21 wasn't my number here. I couldn't because someone else had it!

believe me, I am the UND King!. Go Sioux!

I thought the freshmen we brought in last year are talented. so Im behind them 100%, but the simple fact is that recruit better than what you have, recruit better than what is in your 2 deep, and recruit for and where you are playing against. I just hope the guys we are getting understand who we are playing. Our conference recruits the most populated state in the country and we shy away from it!? We are in the midwest and I understand, but after the steady decline in the last few years, you have to change the mood. NDSU I give them credit, but if they were in our league I doubt they would make it through very easily. Plus they would be in the same boat as us as far as location. They benefit from being in a conference that in their geographic area and thats it. WE just have to not just harder but smarter. the only thing i know is that you cant be small, slow, and not physical. The players and coaches have pride and I think they will do a GREAT job in represent UND. I just think we need to step and look at it from a broad point a view with no bias. The simple fact is only 1 full time coach know the league better than coach freund and the big sky is a different beast that the missouri valley. Remember WE lost to SDSU last year only playing 2 quarters of football with a bunch of kids who were undersize and not very fast by 7. They finished 2nd in the MVC............

carter- guys you just name, where did they go to school (really?!) dranka- he is not 250, decent player, unfortunately siu hasnt been to the playoffs for 4 years (the first 2 years were different players) cieslack - have to wait, cant help right now Im being real, need better bodies for a better league
-
carter, good wieght size, but lacking height dranka, saw this game already. he is a 4-3 de, not a 3-4 de (check out carrothers) the linebacker for mehominee, he going to play olb, (finley, bennett, idowu last year) cieslak, true tweener, not a de (ability) or dt (size), more effective in a 4-3 scheme i think (just my opinion)

you are right and they are bringing in are bigger in some area (which is not hard to do), but still recruiting the "not so big" guy in other positions. Also running the same defense......with also losing All of the offense production from last year. Getting rbs will definitely help (believe me we all have seen) but you have to block up front and have threats on the outside to keep the extra hat out of the box
-
ok (if you can honestly say that)
-
it never said coach freund was the recruiting coordinator. Obviously part of the staff but not the coordinator
-
not enough I dont think. football is and always will be a big man game in alot of ways
-
interesting. as I look at the new list, besides the kids from michigan, i think all of those kids were identified by the last staff before bubba got in place!! I hope those kids can play bigger than what they are because we had undersized guys last year and were not very successful.
-
wow. someone gave you some bad info i think on that 1!
-
I have a question: How many of these verbal commitments that we have were actually recruited and identified by the new staff. I have a feeling the guys we have committed at this point and time were being recruited by the previous staff even after everything happen in november? So how great of a job is bubba staff doing or are they riding the coat tails of previous recruiting?!
-
i don't think the kids has good enough grades to get into school here unfortunately (Anthony Anderson)
-
ndsu didn't get there train going until about 4 years ago when though pups grew up! Need the time to build! Only the 3rd year in Division 1 football
-
im not saying the lines cant dominant, but at this level you have to find diamonds in the rough and develop them. That takes about 3 years to get these guys up to snuff! I hope he has that long before the heat comes. Recruiting is vital. The guys in the big sky will try to put up 50 if they can. don't forget bubba has to replace all of the production on offense and holes and depth on defense! These next 2 recruiting classes will crucial to his success!
-
also not to pile on but the big sky had 4 teams make the playoffs and the MVC had 2 I think. Just a different style of football.
-
I hope you are right. I just think its going to be a rude awakening if you don't fall into the trap of recruiting the same. the top 3 teams in the big sky has efficient qb play and very good in there front 7 on defense (run stoppers or pass rushers). In order to make plays, u can scheme it up anyway you want, but players make plays on saturday
-
good points, question though, how many times did und rush for over 100 yds vs. big sky competition and number 2 und and siu ran the same defense, how will that change without changing personnel? Remember und lost to sdsu by 7 points and they were not very good. no speed. This is version of division 1 football. I will stay tune because I can see where this may go. I hope Im wrong
-
true that. they play in the big sky, little different story i think
-
not my intention, just pointing out the facts. true with the 3 fcs championship but they havent played a team from the big sky at anytime during that run. plus they can do a little bit better in midwest recruiting because their conference is in the midwest as to und which is a midwest school in the a west coast conference.
-
really think there is enough talent in the upper midwest as appose the west coast. the other part of coaching is the players have to have the talent to execute what is being teached! You do have a point though. fix them and you will beat weber and northern colorado
-
not by a long shot. just being real!
-
you are on to something. I hope it can change this year. Better players make you a better coach everyday of the week. The problem (which is unfortunate) there are better football on the coasts then in our neck of the woods.
