The current display has pixels that are spaced 23mm apart and utilize lamp style LEDs. The bid is asking for products that have pixels that are spaced approximately 15mm apart and utilize 3-in-1 SMD style LEDs. This will provide a very nice increase in resolution and image quality, especially with larger boards. Hopefully Alerus management decides to spend a little more and go with the world leading supplier of LED video boards that is located just a couple hours to the south (and employs UND alumn) than going with product sourced from China.

I don't think that is too big of a dream. In my opinion they should turn that whole space into video boards as well as the football scoreboard with video capable fascia displays. According to the bid spec it looks like the Alerus/EAPC is at least interested in seeing what that costs as well. You can see what they are asking for at the EAPC Bidding Site. I would love for them to go for the majority of the alternate bids, but I'm guessing that will come down to a budget decision. The Broncos got new video boards before the start of this season and technically UND got new video boards before the 2001 season. Coincidence or guaranteed record booster?
