  1. Looks like Chris Kuper will retire after struggling to come back from a dislocated ankle back in 2011. He was just never the same after the injury, among others the past 2 years, he was a Pro-Bowl caliber player before the injury. He was cut down in his prime unfortunately. Having the pleasure of being a UND and a Broncos fan, it was a real treat to watch him his whole career!

    Here's a link:

  2. ...If Lennon is still employed at SIU then...

He just signed I think a 2-year extension. They must be somewhat satisfied. Although hadn't Mussman just signed an extension......

  3. I think you always take good play into the tournament rather than rest if at all possible, especially in hockey. I can just imagine a struggling goalie with 2 weeks to think about how bad he played compared to a hot goalie with usual rest, I would take the latter. Remember several times UND had to play 3 games at the final five, that was a gauntlet. This time the conference tourney will be 2 games at max, just another weekend except you hopefully get a trophy at the end of it!

  4. Don't know anything about Richey other than he's an Olineman with alot of interest so yes I would want him. Wish list of players I have some knowledge of: Ezra, Walker, Simmons, Weber, true DT.

  5. Not to be mean but UND needs better RB's than him. They have similar backs to him now. Need that next level game breaker that can make plays on their own, make guys miss.

Do you think Simmons or Walker can be that "next level game breaker"? I don't know enough about them.

  6. Anyway.............., to somewhat update everyone on where UND is in recruiting: Josh Parks may or may not be on his way to UND. Ezra is deciding between UNI and UND. We had a contingent in Michigan today to recruit at Brother Rice. There is speculation that Kacour is accepting a PWO to UofM. Did I miss anything fellow recruiting buddies? Roll tribe!

  7. you are on to something. I hope it can change this year. Better players make you a better coach everyday of the week. The problem (which is unfortunate) there are better football on the coasts then in our neck of the woods.

    Tell that to NDSU!

  8. I have to say I took my 3yr old son to fan fest last year. And Cole Reyes got down on my kids level, talked to him, played football, etc. Cole really impressed me! Norberg was also very good with kids andget personable. If we can continue to get these class act players, we will be in very good position to achieve greatness.

  9. You can't have both a winning atmosphere and good speakers?

I should have clarified more. The talk was about getting better speakers, a point was made that part of the reason the speakers are bad is not the actual speaker but the fact that noise echoes. Then someone said we should put noise dampeners on the ceiling to make the PA sound better. Well as a result, as geaux_sioux said, noise dampeners doesn't only take out the speaker echoes but also crowd noise. Crowd noise is what makes a great home field advantage which leads to a better winning percentage. Call it a design flaw in the Alerus, I don't know, that was my reasoning though.

  10. True, but it also makes the speakers sound worse than they are.

I would rather win games because of the home field advantage noise than have the little added benefit of good sounding speakers. I don't think the speakers are that bad anyway... IMO.

  11. President of The Minnesota Twins is a NDS..........wait a UND grad!! UND also has a NASA astranaut for an alum just to reference a few Ira missed. That's not even mentioning the premier hockey players that play in olympics and NHL.

UND is defintely superior to NDSU in many, many academic fields. Aviation is world renowned.

In the same breath I will say I am not delusional and I don't think NDSU doesn't produce well educated students. I work with many, although I hate them bragging about football, they are more than qualified in their field. I will also not knock farmers and agriculture, it is obviously a major part of our states culture, not to mention my ancestors were all farmers. But again, I chose UND over NDSU in a major both schools offered.

No matter how you slice it, UND is superior in academics overall.

Now to football, as someone mentioned before, the Alerus was absolutely rocking for majority of the 2000's. NDSU fans should know that more than anyone, except maybe GVSU. I absolutely believe Bubba can get us back and annually compete for Big Sky championships. The decline of NDSU will be fun to watch, but NOT as fun as the rise of UND football!

  12. Ojuri is done. Crockett will be a senior. They have a bunch of good young backs in the stable. We on the other hand have a lot of opportunity for playing time.

I agree, I should have clarified that playing time is an advantage for UND. I'm pumped, let's get some recruits!

  13. Also has an official visit scheduled for UofM on Jan 17th, though no scholarship offer as of yet. Also of note, he had some interest from NIU and Tim Polasek (new NDSU OC) was his recruiter, though it does not show he ever got an offer from them. Rivals shows that NDSU had some interest at one point as well. UND and SDSU are his two reported offers.

The link shows he was offered PWO from UofM. I also noticed the Polasek similarity, kind of worried that he may really try to get him at NDSU especially since they already had interest.

What years are the 2 big FU RB's, Ojuri and Crockett?

Playing time has to be an advantage.

  14. Why is everyone pretending that SIU was a bottom feeder. Didn't they just miss out on the playoffs this past year in the MVFC, come on that was a good conference. Also, these coaches are midwest guys, I believe they will recruit well in ND, MN, WI etc.

  15. NDSU President Bresciani said today that it might be a while before the UND/NDSU game can be restarted because UND isn't very competitive in football right now and NDSU would just as soon wait till the game would be more competitive. Over the years they sure have come up with a lot of reasons why the game can't be played. Boring.

And how bad it will hurt when FU falls off that high horse!

  16. Personally I am more disappointed with the one month wait. Even more excited about Bubba after yesterday. Not sure if others feel the same way.

The time WAS an issue for me. After just watching the presser I am thoroughly excited about Bubba and don't really care about the time that it took. His passion is probably as high about UND as anyone, and that will show up on the field. He just truly believes in this institution.

  17. The game needs to be played annually. I don't care what school you root for, both teams and fan bases would rather see each other on the schedule than Valpo or whoever else with the expection of the FU AD from what I'm lead to believe. Growing up, those games were better than anything else UND could put on even in hockey. Better than even Minnesota or Denver hockey series. Right now, obviously FU would have the huge upper hand, but the gap will close, how much, I don't know. Think about the generation of kids missing out on this right now, it's only a story their parents can tell.
