06 there were 3 who went 1st round with a total of 5 1st rounders that played college. 07 one first rounder drafted from college with a total of 11 first rounders who played college. How many college guys went first round in drafts like '07 and '06?

New year, new season, and a new group of kids coming in. I have a feeling we are going to be pleasantly surprised at how good they do. Are they going to win the league? Why not? Are they going to win the Frozen Four? Why not? This is college hockey and anything can and does happen. Happy thoughts everyone!

Where would a good site to go to and find out how the 1st round picks over the last 10 years have worked out?Sure they do....how many top prospects came to NCAA rather than CHL. The number is declining every year. 22 of the 30 first round picks were from the CHL. That is what I meant from being a top prospect....1st round picks.

How is it being extorted? By forcing people to pay above and beyond the price of the ticket. Since they will not sell you a ticket without it. As for a tax donation lets do the math. Say you did pay $120 extra for 2 tickets that is $240 dollars. 80 percent of that is tax deductible. That works out to $192 dollars. Even at a tax rate of 20 percent that saves you a total of $38.40. Or $19.20 per ticket.First, your sentence makes no sense. Second, yes their is a list. I'm confused how money is being extorted? No one is being forced to buy hockey tickets. People voluntarily give the donation for the right to purchase tickets. I suppose UND could just figure it into the price of season tickets and they would be that much higher. But people probably like the tax donation aspect of the way it is done now.
Regardless, I suppose you have some extra time to discuss it considering its a 100+ degrees down in Phoenix. Too warm to be out by the pool.

They knew it was a bad choice. At the same time what choice did they have? They have to keep paying for the arena one way or another. What really could Seattle or anyone else give the Coyotes that would be any better financially? Who says they would draw more fans in Seattle than Phoenix? The arena never should have been built to start and the Jets never should have moved to Phoenix. The old Glendale city council that started this mess had champagne dreams on a Old Style budget.I was in Phoenix in December the first year the Jets spent in Phoenix. TERRIBLE sightlines at the old America West Arena so we moved down to the lower level for the third period. The Coyotes upset Pavel Bure and the Vancouver Canucks that day...good game. I agree 100% on the shorts and
flip-flops to the game...great time.
However, 13,000 and change for a home game this past season doesn't cut the mustard. Terrible decision by Glendale. What a boondoggle they've gotten themselves into. The buyout clause all but guarantees that the team will be gone in five years anyways.
A blog post I read a bit ago said it best...'Glendale is re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic...". I couldn't have put it better myself.
-
Ah but is there really a list or just a way to extort money from people?Yes. Very valid comparison.....
Feel free to not give the donation to have the right to purchase tickets. There is literally a list of a people waiting for the opportunity.

And people complain about add on fees with hotels and airlines,,,Pretty nice that a strong-arm fee is 80% tax deductible. And yes, if you want to argue that on a ticket by ticket basis, DU are more expensive. But part of that reason is there is no required donation to get those tickets. So overall cost, UND's are more. And not sure how you can argue you don't have to "pay the strong arm fee"? UND has a waiting list with people that are more than willing to pay it, so clearly if you don't, someone else will and you won't have tickets.
-
Coyotes stay. The Glendale city council is voting tonight...hello Seattle Thunderbirds?
-
They have before like last year. Remember the basketball announcer Ralston they suspended?I know NDSU does their own production, buys air time on stations, and then sells their own ads.
I don't know if UND does that.
-
When the mob does it they call it extortion. When a university does it they call it fund raising.I don't know anyone not paying it, and UND has a waiting list for hockey season tickets. I consider it part of the ticket buying cost.
-
That is with the strong arm fee being added. Actual ticket costs are higher at DU. I ignored the strong arm fee on purpose. Because that was not the question. You do not have to pay the strong arm fee. Let us call it what it is. Donation is too nice of a word. The minimum donation to the Champions Club is $120 to buy a pair of tickets, which ads $60 per seat. So UND season tickets actually start at $450 per seat and goes up, that is still more than $374 for a full package at Denver. The required donation at UND goes up, depending on the section. Seats behind the benches come to more than $750 per seat or more, including the required donation. That would be more than $582. Again, UND tickets are more expensive than Denver. Where did you come up with your statement that UND tickets were cheaper than UND?

Which one? Billy, Ted, or Walter?Dunder gets pretty shady at nite...owners a party animal

But it was the place at one time along with the upstairs Sensations.Look at the Down UNDer and how terrible of an environment it was. Crappy old tvs in a basement with just an overall unclean feeling.
-
I don't think that would even work. Look at the Down UNDer and how slow it got there. It seems all the college kids go downtown with a bunch of bars to kangaroo around. More like this building should never have been built to start with. Usual result of businessmen thinking they are restaurateurs. One thing I always thought about this place when it was built that there are only so many home games a year. So the parking lot fills up with people before the game and if they leave their cars there no parking for anyone else during the game. After the game people are parked all over the area and to far away from the building to want to go there after the game. Does anyone really want to walk to the ramp or the lot across from the Nursing school in 10 below weather?According to their web page and facebook page, they are available for private bookings. I guess one could call them to see if that is true or not. There's a poster on this site who claims to be close friends with the owner of Albatross, perhaps he/she could post a more accurate update. Personally, I think it's the wrong type of restaurant for that location. That location needs a sports bar that is geared towards college age and blue collare type folks to be successful...at least in my opinion.

What games are you thinking they might pick up? Or are you like me just hoping that they pick up the BU or St. Lawrence games. Wouldn't the only possible road games shown be non-conference games? We will get the away games that are on CBSSN and if the games are on FSN or NBCSN.
-
That's how it looks. Maybe NESN or FSN as was mentioned before picks up a game or two it will have to be the internet.Does anyone know if there is anything new with the Men's hockey TV situation? I know that the NCHC has a deal with either NBC or CBS Sports, but that will only cover a few of the games throughout the season?
Have they found a way to broadcast the rest of the games? Pretty disappointing to lose out on the Fox College Sports deal that was in place, I would think they could find a way to make it work for the games that are not already commited to the bigger network.
At the very least, it would be smart of the NCHC to put together something like the Big Sky does. It will be pretty dissapointing if the only way to watch the Sioux are the glitchy webcasts that have been in place over the past several years.
-
Location, lack of capital, and knowledge as to what goes into running a bar restaurant. What's the latest with the Albatross? Another victim of poor location (see Dickey's) or are they still trying to give it a go?
-
Because you did not check the link. $198 is for a partial package only. $374-$582 for a full package.Regular price for UND hockey season tickets is $390 plus a donation to the Champions Club. $390 is almost twice as much as $198. Not sure why you think that Denver's tickets are more expensive than UND's.
-
If they are giving them away why are they more expensive than UND's?Got an email from Denver (I'm on their list because I bought tickets for last years game with them...the last WCHA arena I had left on my list). They're practically giving away season tickets!!!
'Denver Fans,
DU hockey season tickets are now on sale for the upcoming 2013-14 season. The best locations won't last and season tickets are your only way to guarantee seats for games that are sure to sell out. Ticket packages start as low as $198 and consist of either a full season package with 22 games or a power pack(half season) with 11 games.
Contact the DU ticket hotline now to reserve seats at 303.871.GOAL (4625) or click here to visit the Pioneer ticketing site.
GO Pioneers!'

Didn't UND use to have a top swimming team? What happened to it?

Go back and read it again. It does not say that KFJM was not on FM before 1995.That Wikipage is wrong...(Imagine that!)
KFJM was airing on FM long before 1995... I know. I was a student slave there back in the day its major format was classical music.
-
Isn't the set up UND pays CC for the air time and sells the ads?Haven't seen what the contract is worth? Anyone know what Clear Channel is paying UND athletics?
-
There really is no difference between the two.The division isn't ND vs MN it truly is rural vs urban. The conflict between urban values and mindset and rural values and mindset is manifest everywhere- from this article, to the presidential election and politics in general.
