  1. What was UND's record? Weber was so good that they got a 16 seed.

Who cares? You got your ass kicked wire to wire by UND by what, 18 points? Weber would have DESTROYED your bball team. DESTROYED.

  2. Montana has been in the FCS for how long since the beginning of the created divisions era, while UND had been in the FCS since 2008. A move up isn't going to happen for quite a while. We aren't Georgia State, but if a study doesn't cost much money then why not.

Do the study. Heres where we are now. Heres where we need to be to go FBS. Start planning and fundraising accordingly if that is our desire and an invite is ultimately extended.

  3. According to Bulk Truck he wants UND to go FBS as of yesterday. I think there are more important things to consider, like what conference would invite UND? Sun Belt? MW? MAC? Plus UND is contracted with the Alerus until the end of the decade (I believe). Until the p5 split and all hell breaks loose, UND won't look at moving up.

Darell, I agree with you that they need a conference invite. But what if everything shakes down and a conference comes calling tomorrow, next month, next year, or 5 years from now? We can't tell them to wait so we can do a study and tell them we'll get back to them when we find out if we can do it or not. You have to have your due diligence done now, so you can make that educated decision either way. When and if an invite is extended and if and when we are able to go, we need to have our answer immediately if it is our intention to accept the invite. That door is only open for so long before they move on. I hope the administration, athletic department and foundation all have this stuff on their radars now. EDIT: If we do the study now and realize we aren't ready, then action(s) can be made to prep ourselves financially if we feel a move is imminent.

  4. No point of doing a study now, when we aren't moving up for a long time.

This thought process is what got us to where we are today. Not saying we are, should or are even capable of going FBS now, but we need to put the wheels in motion and be prepped for the day if and when the opportunity presents itself. The study should be done now if it already hasn't been started. You at least have to look into it now proactively. Not reactively in 5 years. That's too late.

  5. No apology necessary, as the Duke would say never say you're sorry it's a sign of weakness.

First all of Minnesota and Wisconsin, I wish our State was more like them. If we were hockey would likely have a chance for it's rightful home playing them as conference rivals instead of having to step sideways or IMO down as members of the NCHC. Nobody can tell me that the best rivalries in WCHA hockey weren't the UND/goofers and UND/badgers.

Now for Louisiana and Ohio State they both have intrastate rivals, but essentially choose to ignore that they exist. Now for Alabama/Auburn, Oregon/Oregon State, and Oklahoma/Oklahoma State I will concede they are rivals but they are from States that have 5-7 times the population base and that takes me back to this concept of "inefficiency" and wise use of what you have available. Finally on Texas/Texas A&M that essentially ended with TAM's move to the SEC. Besides Texans don't feel they ever have to do anything that somebody else does, well that's Texas. Efficiency, prudent use of resources, and eliminating duplication are all hallmarks of the our German, Scandinavian, Bohemian, Polish, UK and yes our historically Native American cultures. Well I hope I've given you enough to chew on Ol' Gus!

Yeah. I guess Im just gonna have to disagree with you on that. But thanks for the diatribe? I also just like to acknowledge and admit when I'm wrong on something.

  6. Ol' Gus I love your avatar, but I'm afraid your argument is flip flopin' a bit. I think you are a bit confused on what the definition of intrastate and interstate is. Inefficiency by my definition is a waste of finite and valuable resources. I have some other comments on some of your other thoughts, but I will reserve those until we clarify that interstate vs. intrastate part of our discussion.

Ohhhhhh, peaches! You're right, I did have them turned around. My apologies. Now you can proceed with your other comments.

  7. Good point, but if you look at just the four States you mentioned you will find volumes of dysfunctional history between their respective twin schools as well. That's why intrastate rivalries are much more inefficient than interstate rivalries. Intrastate rivalries are very polarizing and counterproductive, while interstate rivalries are unifying and IMO a lot more fun. Texas/Oklahoma, Michigan/Ohio State, Alabama/LSU, and Minnesota/Wisconsin to provide you with four examples to consider. The 30,000 or more fans that packed the Metrodome especially in 2007 when NDSU played the goofers in football weren't all Bison fans, I know I was right next to a former Sioux football player at the game. How about all the fans that pack the Ralph? Nobody can tell me there aren't Bison fans that have season tickets to UND hockey because I have been in their suite.

Ohio State, LSU, Minnesota and Wisconsin do not have interstate rivals, so that is by default. Texas/Texas A&M, Oklahoma/Oklahoma State & Alabama/Auburn are much more fierce and intense rivalries overall. I'll give you MIchigan/Ohio State, but that can definitely be argued by Michigan State. You can talk about "inefficiency" and whatever that means, but in general, the interstate rivalry is much more vicious than any intrastate rivalry in my opinion. In any sport. It's civil war (Oregon/Oregon State).

  8. As for Incarnate Word.... well, they play Baylor in a few years so they mustn't be all that awful to schedule?

There you have it. "Cow college logic" at its finest. Of all the ridiculous things you post here, this one has to be up there. And you dont want to schedule UND because it wouldn't be healthy because of the name-calling. When in fact FU and its fanbase will continue to do it like they have been even though we havent been playing in football. So whats the difference? Its obvious to me that most FU fans just want to avoid playing UND at all costs, only because they dont want to chance actually losing the game, like they have in every other sport this year.

  9. I guess I went with the assumption he wasn't going to be on the team next fall. In the event he is, I'd like to think he would play over the two incoming freshmen wide receivers, Walker and Ferguson.

He's still officially on the team as far as I have heard. However he went home to AZ for summer workouts, so I wouldnt be surprised if he doesn't return. Word is he's pretty flighty. I hope I'm wrong because I'd like to see what he could do here. Regarding the posted depth chart up top, I think theres 95% chance Cole Reyes is a starter. He's a guy that needs to be on the field early and often.

  10. This idiot STILL can't admit he's wrong? It's the biggest case of narcissism I have ever seen on here and that's saying something. And he's bi-polar. Great convo. At least bison73 had the decency to recognize it and commented about clearing it up.

  11. Because your AD keeps running to the Fargo Forum which I do read (unfortunately) trying to negotiate a game via the media and it gets damned old!

What are you talking about? Just making $%^@ up again on this one? This is patently false. Everyone at FU and 4-Hexhibit.com just assume Faison went to the media on this one. He didn't. Read the Schlossman articles. OPEN RECORDS REQUESTS.

  12. The first batch of emails reported on last week were obtained from an open records law. The Herald didn't request another one since then. These were forwarded to the Herald by Faison to try to strike while he thinks the pressure is on Taylor. It will backfire on him.

Wrong. This whole round of UND-NDSU talk is all open records requests.

But I'm sure you and your bison cronies will ignore the facts yet again.

  13. After watching the practice today I am going to start the "Bring back Coach Lotysz" campaign! I realize the defense is usually ahead of the offense but wow, the offense was bad and it starts with the line. They didn't run block worth a crap and they were worse than that at pass blocking. I think one pass was completed and they may have netted 1 total rushing yard. If we can't move the ball against our defense (and they can't be that good), then it's going to be a long season! I have my own opinions about the o-line and that revolves around strength. I don't think Baukol does enough upper body work with lineman. Hopefully some eyes were opened today!

Half joking, half serious.......that group looked bad. And why couldn't I come to that conclusion after 10 practices? The run game had negative yards in the scrimmage. And you are right....not as stupid as you.

So you heard it here first folks. O-line coach needs to go and the offense and OC are on watch alert after 10 spring ball practices. Offense looked terrible in the first live scrimmage of spring ball and had negative rushing yards. Any other variables regarding loss of personnel, coaching staff change and philosophical change in general on offense need not apply. And Chicken Little has been to every practice and watched all the tape of the offense.

This post is a joke right? Just trying to get people going? Because there's no possible way you can seriously come to this conclusion after 10 practices of spring practice with the new OL coach. No possible way. I know you arent that stupid. Thanks for the humor.

  15. How do you know Jones won't get fired? Another 17-17 year and a first round loss in the CIT is not what I am looking forward to.

Well that would at least start another "legacy" for the players and Coach Jones. They could just continue on the "postseason tournament legacy" that the seniors left behind that Jones speaks so highly of. For those of you who want to continue to see underachieving, average records and results: you got it with Brian Jones. That is what you will get as long as he is here. Medocrity. Plus he just lost his ace recruiter.

  16. Coaches either have "it" or they don't. Players show on the court whether their coach has "it". If the AD either doesn't want to see, or simply can't see whether his coach has "it" after this much time, then he is as incompetent and ineffective at his job as his coach is. Norwood Teague saw this identical situation at Minnesota and did something about it even though Tubby won a tourney game last year. Unfortunately, I believe this Craig Smith hiring at USD doesn't bode well for UND in the future for a variety of reasons, even though we don't play in the same conference.

  17. As long as Brian Jones is the Head Coach at UND, we will be stagnant and average as a UND Mens Basketball Program. The large sample size shows that. His coaching leaves a lot to be desired. Good coaches get the best out of their players. It is my opinion that he does not get the best out of his players. In fact, I believe they have underachieved terribly during the years with him as head coach.
