  1. Skill wise im not, he's played a handful of games in his career. Go sioux. That 4th line will be interesting though

I agree with you as far as skill goes.

Even though Sanderson has only played in a handful of games, he still has over a year of experience in Hak's system as a forward. I thought that would give him the nod for a fourth line, grinder role.

It will be interesting to see how Ausmus and Panzarella do though.

  2. I've read many times that Panzarella and Ausmus are considered to be defensive defensemen. Wouldn't it make more sense to put Mattson (like Oxbow6 suggested) and/or Thompson at wing temporarily?

  3. Are there pictures available of the finished hats? I cant find one. If no, is there a reason one cant be posted?

    Approximate cost?

I'm interested in a hat, but I'm wondering about the answers to the questions above as well.

I seen on another page that there are four color options. Based on the feedback from the first order, has there been a consensus on which color looks the best?

In addition, would you provide a brief description of the hat (material, lettering/logo, etc.)? I'm sure that information is already in this thread, but I haven't found it yet.

  4. I'm just curious if anyone knows which player (MacMillan or O'Donnell) officially got credit for the second UND goal last night. It appeared to me watching live on television (and the initial replays) that O'Donnell shot it over the net, the puck hit the boards and came back in front of the net, and MacMillan poked it in the goal. Everything I read initially gave the goal to MacMillan.

However, Schlossman's story on last night's game credits O'Donnell for scoring the second (and third) goal.

  5. Bottomline: Zane or Clark will have to be huge early and someone will have to pop one in to quiet the crowd to give us a chance. The freshman in the lineup can't play like freshman this series. If we parade to the box, it will be a 5-1 beatdown or worse.

I agree. I think the beginning of this game will be key. Miami should have a good crowd there (NCHC opener, homecoming weekend, and #1 ranking).

A couple of early goals by Miami would keep the crowd "in the game." In contrast, no early goals by Miami should boost the confidence of our young defensive players.

  6. Miami definitely has some offensive playmakers. This may expose some of the inexperience we have on defense.

I'm curious to see what our defensive lineup will look like on Friday. Barring injury or suspension, I think it's likely that Simpson and Schmaltz will play every game.

That leaves four spots (assuming Hakstol dresses six defensemen). Like many other users, I wasn't very impressed with Mattson this past weekend. However, I think his experience gives him the advantage over the freshmen early in the season.

With Mattson in, that leaves three spots. Of the four freshmen, I was most impressed with Stecher this past weekend. He made some obvious mistakes, but I thought he was aggressive and played well overall. I think he earned himself a spot. I also noticed LaDue more on Saturday night. He was more aggressive with the puck and did some good work on the PK. So I think he earned himself a spot on Friday as well.

I think the sixth D spot is a toss-up right now between Ausmus and Thompson. I think both players showed some positive things this weekend.

  7. Simpson-schmaltz

    Ausmus-ladue

    Thompson-stecher

Like many other users on here, I wasn't very impressed with Mattson last night. However, I have a feeling that Hakstol will want his "experience" in the lineup with all of the young guys on defense (at least at the beginning of the season).

That said, I think Ausmus, LaDue, or Thompson will be sitting out instead of Mattson.
