  1.

Posted these names in the other thread. UNDs open record search could stop some candidates from applying..... remember the football search.

    Top Choices

Dave Tippett Why don't we steal one back from the NHL?

Enrico Blasi ( I know this guy doesn't have UND connections but he is a fantastic coach. Not sure if he could be taken from Miami but Faison should give him a call.)

    Sandelin

    Jackson

    Berry

    Next Tier

    Eades

Blais (Not sure how many years he has left)

    Darkhorses

    Frank Serratore

    Mike Hastings

    Gwoz

    Mike Eaves

Not going to pretend there aren't a hundred reasons why UND is a better job than Miami, but as far as I can tell Hackstol and Rico were making basically the exact same salary last year (300k + incentives) just don't see him leaving his alma mater and everything he's built for another college program and the same $$$.

  2. Is it just me - I don't get it???

What is the challenge? If Miami loses, he dresses up in a Sioux jersey, green facepaint and gets shot with paintballs by a member of the University of Miami Paintball team (they have a university paintball team?). That part makes sense - he's betting that Miami wins.

So what if Miami does win? Is he wanting U of Miami students to bet against the Redhawks and bet that UND wins?

Maybe I'm just overthinking this, but this is really dumb. Who at that school would "take this bet" and bet against Miami? Or maybe he wants to bet UND fans? Does he think that UND fans will fly out there if they lose so he can pelt them with paintballs? I must be dense...I just don't get it.

Sports marketing employees trying to justify their existence. We have a new AD who has been cutting jobs in an attempt to get the department out of the red. Wouldn't read much more into it than that.

    Super dumb.

  3. we already have denver to HATE, I'll just lump miami into the duluth and cc category-don't like them and don't hate them. unless they act like they just won the stanley cup after each goal this weekend.

The players will, but that's pretty standard regardless of opponent. Call it the enduring legacy of Ryan Jones.

  4. I'm looking forward to seeing miamis top line since somebody had the audacity to compare them to a line contains Toews Oshie and Duncan..... I hope they aren't that good.

    Not quite that good lol.

Czarnik and Barber are about as dynamic of a combo as you'll get in college, but Max Cook is a role player (albeit a much improved one), just out there to add a little size and chip in when possible.

  5. If you were a Miami fan, dare I say you would be calling for Enrico Blasi's head? No 'perennial contender' has been upset in NCAA tournament play more times in the past 7-10 years than Miami.

    Nope :)

Before Blasi, Miami was a wanna-be, never-was program. So I think he still has some wiggle-room with the fan base.

Wiggle-room doesn't even being to describe it

  6. Based on these lists, Neulion must do good work for someone, http://www.neulion.c...TCLID=206146360 and http://www.neulion.c...TCLID=206115423. From looking at the list it appears that 6 out of the 8 NCHC schools use Neulion, with the exceptions being Colorado College and Duluth.

We switched to Neulion last year and it was a disaster. Yes it had much better quality than America One or even CBS Sports online package, but that was when the feed decided to work, which was about 60% of the time at best.

It's still nice to see that 6/8 are on the same platform. Last year Miami subscribers were able to watch the Western stream free of charge for both road games, it would be great to see that become the norm in the NCHC.

  7. Hmnnnn....muhawks...that wouldn't be Miami of Ohio RedHawks, would it?

I personally like Miami hockey and Enrico Palazzo Blasi. Still can't believe they lost the title game to BU the way they did...

    Oh noes, I've been discovered!

OSU attendance will absolutely increase quite a bit this year along with the B1G, but like it's been noted, hockey is 4th/5th/6th fiddle in Columbus. Hockey games are something to take the kids to because tickets are $5, concessions are reasonable, and basketball games are sold out. The crowd starts filtering out after the 2nd period and with the exception of Michigan (they'd get rowdy to watch OSU play Michigan in pogs) and Miami (nearby game for a large number of our grads) the place is utterly dead.

  8. Which should be even MORE embarrasssing for a school like Ohio State, wouldn't you think? Columbus is a major metropolitan area, unlike Oxford, Kalamazoo, and St Cloud.

    http://www.stadiumjo...er-s1113/images

Now, contrast those pictures of Ohio State hockey vs this...

Yes, it is. OSU has 56k students and over 1 million people in the Columbus area. Miami has under 15k students and around 5k Oxford residents. Are we really sure Miami is the best benchmark here? :silly:

But to make it more embarrassing, half the people in those pictures are Miami fans.

  9. Based on the info on the Miami site, this is correct. The "premium" games this year at Miami are Ohio State and Wisconsin. I believe they are 27.00 as opposed to 25.00. I did see some games have standing room only tickets at 18.00 per. Hoping to be able to score some tickets when they go on sale. If not, I guess I'll just cry I guess since I've been planning this trip since freaking March.

    Me,too!

If you jump on at right when they go on sale (10 am I believe) you should be able to get something. Standing room is not a bad option if that's all that's available, in some cases it might be better then the reserved seats that do end up going on sale. Get there 45 minutes early to stake out a nice spot and you will have a great view. Good luck!

  10. Via GF Herald - Denver has new ticket policy for series against North Dakota

I believe Miami (OH) and Western Michigan will also have similar policies for the UND series.

On the NHL side, a handful of teams are implementing these types of policies for games against the Chicago Blackhawks in order to keep all the red out of their arenas.

Unless you've heard something second hand I don't believe there has been any public indication from Miami that they are planning on doing this. In the past our "marquee games" (Notre Dame, Michigan, OSU) have just been handled with a higher ticket price, but we do have a new AD who may be looking to shake things up.

All told, any given home game usually has less than 500 seats that ever make it to the public for purchase. I'm guessing by merit of the opponent, and it being the NCHC opener on Friday, not many seats to the series are going to even be available after the donor pre-sale.
