  1. Hello,

I recently discovered that my DVR deleted last year's (2012) Final Five games that I was saving to put onto a DVD. I wanted to keep them not only for the great Sioux games, but also because my kids ended up being on TV quite a bit over the weekend.

Basically, I am wondering if anyone has DVDs of these games that I could make copies of? I am willing to pay for the copies to be made. If you are able to help please respond to this post or send me an email: chewbacca_reincarnated@hotmail.com.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!!

  2. I have not looked into this at all since the news of the feds seizes of these sites. Does anyone know how I can watch CFL games online for free? I used to be able to do it on channelsurfing.net last year, but that website has changed and does not include CFL games anymore, from what I can tell.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!!

  3. Interesting to note, I was just taking a look at the USCHO Pairwise and if I looked at the rankings correctly we are the only team to have played every game against a TUC team this year. Of course that will change this weekend against MTU, but still impressive to note.

I apologize if this has been mentioned somewhere else, I just found it and thought it was worth the discussion.

  4. WCHA Final Five information page

    WCHA Final Five

Following the completion of the first round, the six winning teams will advance to the WCHA Final Five at Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul. The brackets for the Final Five will be pre-set and the top two seeded teams will receive a bye. The 2011 Red Baron WCHA Final Five, set for March 17-19, will get underway with two games on Thursday on a single-ticket for the opening day. The Thursday games are tentatively set for 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Team No. 3 will play Team No. 6 and Team No. 4 will play Team No. 5.

On Friday of Final Five weekend, Thursday's winners will advance to take on the top two-seeded teams in a pair of semifinal matchups on Friday with separate admission tickets set for 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. As the brackets will be pre-set, the matchups on Friday could be different than usual. And there will no longer be a third place game.

It looks like the brackets will be preset and re-seeding will not occur.

  5. Is anyone else having problems viewing the home page. The forum links and news articles look fine, but the menu on the left side of the screen for hockey and football is super small, i cannot even read it. The same goes for the right side of the screen and the blog posts and twitter feeds. Any solutions or ideas on my issue would be great.

  6. Kind of makes you wonder who the people were on the NCAA Rules Committee that approved these changes. Do they have any knowledge of hockey? Did someone forward these ideas and they blindly went along with them? :glare:

    Edit: ..... Rules committee

Interesting that next to Jon Hill's name it shows he is the representative from the Big Ten Conference. Why would a hockey rules committee need a representative from a non-existent hockey conference, or does the NCAA know something we don't. :glare:

  7. With the recent developments of the nickname, does anyone think we could possibly get the UND Sioux license plate request back up and running. I believe last time the minimum number of plates was not reached, but I bet we could get the minimum number and then some now. Just a thought if anyone has heard anything or knows someone who could find out.

My guess is that a request this late in the game would not be granted, but worth a look at, I think.

  8. I have not read this thread in awhile, so I went back to page one and could not believe how many people like this name. Say the entire school and nickname together as if you were going to use it in a sentence: University of North Dakota Nokotas. It doesn't make sense, sounds like a stuttering problem. It is even worse with my North Dakota accent, like many of us have. I just hope that this nickname is not taken seriously and if we are given the option to vote for a name I will be voting for NO new nickname. Just have 'NORTH DAKOTA' put on all jerseys.

  9. Board president richie smith along with president kelley are just another 2 of the liberals that are much smarter than we average folks. They know better than the incredibly large majority of North Dakotan's, let alone 67 percent of Spirit Lake tribal members who strongly support the Fighting Sioux nickname. We are so lucky to have "friends" like that on our side. They are identical to the 3 stooges we have in the U.S. congress representing the people of North Dakota, the stooges who dont seem to know the people they represent overwhelmingly dont support the health care bill they voted to pass. They are identical situations, where the will of the people is overruled by the people elected/appointed to represent them.

Yababy8 is exactly right, this action can not stand! I am all for protesting this move.

When AussieSiouxFan says f--k the summit league, he is 100percent correct! But truth be told, the UND head football coach would sell his soul and who knows what else to get into that league. He is 110percent behind this action today. That is the sad truth. And it is the truth!

JODY HODGSON is my hero! Hearing him speak the truth in no uncertain terms tonight on the news was priceless! He said what many of us believe and he didnt shy away from saying it so everyone could hear it. I am sure he would be front and center leading a protest against this action.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Summit League does not have football and would have nothing to do with our football program.

  10. I just read the Herald article after watching the opening Frozen Four games and then read all the posts in this thread, and I am just frustrated. The part that hits me the hardest is what am I going to tell my 5 and 2 year old sons tomorrow when they wake up. All both of them do when they get home from school is play hockey with their Fighting Sioux sticks from the Ralph and their nets. They each pretend they are different players and take turns being Eidsness or Dell in the net. They run around cheering game chants as well. It just breaks my heart to have to explain this to them.

On another note, a couple people posted earlier that Kelley and Faison's hands were tied in this matter. I disagree with that to some degree. Over the past year or so all we have heard about these State Board meetings is Kelley and Faison talking about a swift decision from the Board to apply for the Summit League. Therefore, indirectly the Board is hearing over and over from the school that we need this to go away so we can apply to a conference that will do nothing for the grand scheme of things right now. Through this whole process it bothers me that our 3rd and 4th tier sports are controlling the history, tradition and pride of the Fighting Sioux logo relationship with the school.

Just a sad and frustrating situation.

  11. Great job on the logo, but I have to agree with the other posts. I would not want to wear a jersey with a pheasant head on it. Also, those of us (me included) who do not hunt pheasants probably hate pheasants; because the only time I encounter them is when they are about to fly through my windshield on I-94.

  12. I don't know if all the Frank-bashing is because he's a Gopher homer, but if you watch the broadcasts, he's really very complimentary of other teams at times. Sure he's a homer, but apparently not enough of a homer according to the brass.

Bottom-line, I loved his play-by-play timing/voice/etc. I hope he continues doing hockey somewhere.

I agree. He could be extremely hard to listen to at times, but the fact is he is a great play-by-play guy. His vocal inflections were appropriate and well timed. I will wait to see how the new crew does before I say I will miss Mazz and Woog. Should be interesting to see what happens. Whether or not it is warranted you know the situation will have a lot of drama tied to it.

  13. I don't see attendance being as good with the 2 Thursday games. That's an extra day off of work for many.

I agree. My family and I have come to the last two Final Fives from Bismarck and it is an all day commitment with kids in the car to make the night game now, adding a game earlier in the day is only going to make it harder to make the trip on time. We plan on making this our yearly family trip regardless of who is involved, but this may make it harder.

  14. I think that kfgo.com has not been streaming the games this year. I know they had dead air on their streaming site a couple weeks back and a friend said that they were playing a disclaimer or something last night. May be a licensing issue???

Anyway, to be able to get the broadcasts at www.fightingsioux.com, you have to first register for a free subscription. This is good for one calendar year. I had trouble getting the webcast to work last night, then thought to check my subscriptions and had to renew, after which it worked great.

Last year 550 and 710 worked great. This year those two stations have not been carrying Sioux sports.

  15. Is anyone else having trouble listening to Sioux hockey on the radio, or football for that matter as well?

I can log into fightingsioux.com fine and then when I click on the link to listen to the game the media player opens. I then click on the game I want to listen to and it starts buffering for awhile and then says "Error on page" and I get nothing.

I am just curious if anyone else is having this problem or if it is just me.

I live in Bismarck, so there is usually a local radio station that picks up the game, but the station this year (am 1270) has not had a hockey game yet. It is apparently second fiddle to Bismarck Bobcats and other local sports, which I can live with as long as there is a secondary station to listen to the game, like last year. Sorry, just venting a little.

Was just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem or has any ideas. Thanks.

  16. DUNCAN TO RETURN TO UND

Note: scroll about half way down page

This little nugget was posted on the am 740 website out of Fargo.

UND forward Ryan Duncan has told Sioux head coach Dave Hakstol he will return for his senior season. The former Hobey Baker award winner had eighteen goals and twenty-two assists for the Sioux last season. Hakstol expects to hear from juniors Taylor Chorney, Joe Finley and Andrew Kozack in the next two to three weeks on whether or not they will return or sign pro contracts.
  17. "Oshie, Duncan and Kozek have been playing together on the top line, but this week we've tried something different. Brad Miller was up with them today. I wouldn't read a whole lot into that. We just want to be prepared if things aren't working."

    God help us.......

From what I have noticed, the only time Miller puts any effort into his play is when he is on the top line. When he is down on the third or fourth he has no energy or willingness to fight for the puck.

  18. Where did you find that information? Do you have a link?

NDSU could have nearly 10,000 season ticket holders next year so I guarantee you they will draw more than 5,000 for the Playoffs. Every home game will be sold out. Actually, when UND was playing Winona in the playoffs... NDSU was in South Dakota and we brought 7,000 fans with us. Maybe more. Times have changed.

So I would anticipate a sold out dome in the playoffs. We play inside now so the cold isn't an excuse. What's UND's excuse?

You said it, times have changed. You are trying to compare UND Division II football with NDSU Division 1A after four or five years of success. The fact is your season ticket numbers, playoff attendance, etc. are going to be bigger and better because of your recent success. The point some before me are trying to make is the comparison between NDSU and UND's last hosted Division II playoff games. From the numbers someone else posted they seem to be similar.

In five years or so from now we will then compare our first hosted playoff game attendance and season ticket holder numbers with yours for the upcoming season (2008). You can't compare two programs, allow the same sport, at totally different times in their existence.
