This week only on Dish network they are giving a free preview of the center ice package.
Trying to watch it now but my mind won't stop spinning. Suffering from the extreme barage of NHL hockey after such a long absence. Who do I watch: Bo, Zach, blake, etc.... Guess there could be worse thing to deal with.

How about the others in the convention center and other multiple locations around town. Those huddling around the superdome weren't being allowed in either.

The audio is again poop. How can they not correect this. The quality was superior about 5 years ago vs the past couple years. I was going to get the dataflix feed this year but it has been so poor in the past I decided to hold off, and it seems like a good decision.

Well you are ignorant. Those people that went to the Superdome for refuge wereNOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE. And as for the people who were trying to fend for themselves... they were called looters by the press. What did you expect them to do for food? plant a garden? Media and most of the rest of the US was so concerned about the economic impact of Katrina, they forgot about the human beings. Those stores will recover. I dont think Walmart expected to save the fruits and veggies after evacuating, but when people went in to take them for survival they were only thought of as criminals and thieves. You dont know that some of those people in N.O. werent working their butts off for minimum wage to feed their families. But if someone says, Hey if you arent going to get out of the city in time, go the superdome, we'll take care of you. Why not take the offer? Gov't failed what they said they would do. I was pretty surprised to find out the total lack of organization at the Superdome considering before the hurricane hit they took so much time to search everyone for weapons. People also stayed to protect their homes and businesses. Tell you what, if they were only living off of the government dole, I dont think they would be real concerned about a home they didnt own.
anyway, dont get me started. You must be a total atheist to not give a rip about the poor.
Most of us go to school on government assistance (called Stafford loans and Pell grants for those too far removed from college), except for a small few whose parents planned ahead. I dont know alot of people working their butts off to take care of their family that can afford to put away 30,000 or 100,000 for their kids' education. I dont think it is a total drain on society to provide financial assistance to people who will become future taxpayers.
Gov't assistance in this state also includes paying for child care so parents can go to work. Is that a problem for you? Maybe the little babies and children should stay home and take care of themselves? Or maybe one parent should stay home and raise their children and maybe stoop so low as to get financial help from welfare because their job a Mickey D's doesnt pay enough to justify leaving their kids with a stranger all day?
get a life and learn about what you are talking about before you open your trap again.

I hate to even reply to this idiotic rant, but thanks for putting words into my mouth and painting a (unrealistic) picture of me. That being exactly what I am not. My mom will be bummed that all those years of attending church has turned me into an atheist. So much for no personal attacks and trying to have an open discussion. If your response is what you truely got out of my post you are more disillusioned than I had previously acknowledged.
ps. I can tell you one thing, if I had been sitting at the convention center for a couple days and help wasn't coming I sure as hell wouldn't of just sat there waiting for someone to come and save me. Secondly, you being up looting from nowhere. Did I say taking food to survive should be condemned, I think not. However, those that were stealing TV, jewelry, etc.. were doing exactly that stealing.

So if the name was changed your saying people on campus would still tell us to go back to the reservations? You know, I'm willing to take a chance and blame the logo for many of the injustices that happen here on campus. Put it this way, in the long run, it can only get better on campus w/ the logo/name in our rearview mirror.

LOL.....the term "rabbit choker" is used in our Indian community, which obviously you have no ties to, that signifies a Chippewa/Ojibway. If you take offense to that, and you want to compare it to calling someone on campus a "prairie Nigger" or a "dirty Indian, then you really need to spend more time in Indian country because there is a vast difference. I don't say anything behind anyones back. I'm not like those on campus that hide behind others. try me.

How is that not meant to be derogatory/ racist in nature. If I were to say: in my community we call indians "prairie niggers"so its OK to do it elsewhere. This would immediately and rightly be labeled a racist notion and condemed by many. How can this be considered acceptable when you disparage a tribe that is not of your heritage? Please explain to us uneducated.
ps. I hope the anonymous threat of physical violence over the internet makes you feel like a big man.

Since no compromise is possible, how about this idea. Why don't the tribes under the heading "sioux" stop using the name and once again refer to themselves as before. From my understanding the sioux name was given by a rival tribe to the lakota/dakota people. If this group of people now find this name offensive and abusive, why not start calling yourselves by the lakota/dakota terminology once again. In this respect you will no longer be directly associated with the university as a people. yes, I know it is a stupid idea from an ignorant white guy but this is another way of viewing the situation.

I'm working on MY part. but since I am currently studying at UND where I get to deal with *this* every day. I work on the name issue, because I believe that what people learn about the Sioux from the UND experience leads them to treat NA's poorly in real life. Yes if the name is changed, the poor treatment will continue. but in time that will change because we wont be raising our children on these false beliefs.

If they had tried to stand up, make a scene, and push their beliefs on the majority there may have been dissent directed at them. This dissent however, would not be based on their skin color but on their need to push their agenda on others. Most people don't want to be told what to think or do and this often creates unnecessary annimosity. If you attempt to provoke someone this "poor treatment" that you speak of may be generated by a few intolerable people. My friends and I were never subjected to any of these problems that you refer to during my time at the U. Finally I have to completely disagee that changing the name will change the attitude of some with regard to a race of people. It's the persons actions not the name.

I can't believe your hating on Chicago. Granted it is a dirty city, but the downtown area itself is one of the greatest big cities in the country. The culture(art and industrial museum), architecture, lake front, outstanding restaurants (Giordino deep dish get two thumbs up), great clubs (blue chicago, second city),and the full complement of professional sports(SOX > Cubbies)

I don't know about anybody else but I am tired of all this PC B.S. It has gotten totally out of control. If one percent of said paoulation complains about something than it must be changed. I'm sorry but in a democracy it should be the majority that rules. ie if you are offended by a posting of the ten commandments then don't read it. A great majority of these issues are very very minor in regards to every day life. Develope some tolerance and live your life as you see fit. You are only making enemies by trying to force minority opinion upon the majority. sorry about the rant.
