How do we fix this white privilege problem. I still have not heard a straight up answer for the liberals preaching this on TV. It goes further than just the police forces. Chris Cuomo got grilled on it by one of his guests and he couldn’t even come up with a good answer. If they knew how to fix it what didn’t they get it done under Obama and a super majority?

In the case of policing issues. If civil forfeiture continues the money taken goes to schools and drug rehab not police hardware. If a person is fired from a department for cause there is a board similar to that for nurses where they are forced to register so they can’t be rehired. All civilian complaints must be considered when reviewing any current case so patterns can emerge. Co workers viewing the violence should be considered as participating in the same way driving the get away car for a killer makes you guilty. Brutality settlements should be made from police union and retirement accounts. Retaliating for reporting any abuse should be a felony with real time behind it. The limits on their immunity should be severely curtailed

Or maybe 100% think the cop’s behavior was wrong.  But alarmingly, only some think rioting, looting, burning cities to the ground and murdering cops is the wrong response.

I agree that Trump doesn't exactly exude biblical qualities, but what does it tell you that many people of faith still begrudgingly support him?   Hey, if there was another choice of someone that could unify that still held to the constitution and religious freedoms, I am sure many would jump on board.  Many consider him the lesser of two evils.   It seems many with a liberal slant think that churches are so far from essential that they could stay closed until the second coming.

Maybe they don’t mind the taste of the boot as long as it’s on someone else’s neck. Yeah and that they are  racist too. And don’t tell me they aren’t. I’m from southwestern ND. I sat around the dinner tables and in the bars. I am from there so no one guarded themselves. I am them. But I’m not anymore. That ended when I watched the full video of George Floyd being killed. And again when I’ve seen the reaction So you might convince someone else that it’s not the racism. But.not .me

let's take these two major happenings in the last couple of days in GF and Minny...is there a chance that both incidences might never have happened if people would've been able to go back to work weeks ago  when the "curve" was flattened?  seems like the GF shooter was behind on rent (maybe from lack of work) and george floyd forged a check maybe because he hadn't worked in weeks?  just specualtion of course but you never know

I don't know....the guy who murdered him by kneeling on his throat for an extended period wasn't out of work. I'm pretty comfortable putting all the blame on that POS and his unmasked, working compatriots. Although they are unemployed now.  But are they unemployed from the quarantine or with the quarantine. It's so hard to know how they count those stats.

Grand Forks I can't speak too.

  5. Just to speak to the rip the Band Aid off now idea. I’m a clerk/secretary on an inpatient hospital floor. Our particular state has plenty of beds right now. We have staff. What procurement can’t get are bleach wipes.  Our ability to get Disicide has been hit and miss. After we can’t get that we’ll move onto a third option. When that dries up I’m not sure what the plan is. It’s one thing to expect health care workers to face danger. It’s another thing for society to turn it’s back on their part of the deal. If we can’t put bleach wipes in our hospitals it might not be time to open up the gates and let it rip. Add to that list masks, face shields, meds and all the basic gear

  6. I have to say it’s not like our economic situation would be perfectly normal if we didn’t have a lock down. The mess in New York and shutting down major packing plants would have gone a long way to crashing the markets.  If there were no ban would anyone here be hopping on a plane to New Orleans for Jazz Fest for now?  I wouldn’t have gone to the frozen four if they hadn’t cancelled it. The shut down may be making things worse but there was going to be big financial pain. Especially as people sheltering in place has slowed transmission. We would have had more sick people faster with all that would have entailed

Please do...…...CDC's low end estimates of 350K hospitalizations due to influenza so far this flu season. High estimates are at 620K hospitalizations. I think most hospital facilities will be more than able to handle the critical cases of corona which won't even come close to 350K.

I've been wrong before. But we should know way more by that time.

  8. Here's the missing piece. Hospital beds and staffing are related to what has been the normal. This isn't like flu....it's on top of flu.  So if your hospital is full due to regular flu....where I live is has been very full since December.....you need to find away to have supportive treatment for a group of people you are literally not ready for. They have been aggressively moving people from our ICU to regular floors for months here. Also turning away transfers from smaller hospitals and boarding people in our Emergency Department for days at times. If we need more ICU beds what we will do is an uncomfortable thought. From reading patients who require intensive care for Covid 19 require it for some time. Throw in a 14 days out of work for staff if they are exposed without PPE and you start to brew trouble. The best thing that can be expected is we have people slowly get the virus so they can be supported if they require it. This requires social distancing.

I'll check back into this thread in 6 weeks and I bet the prevailing opinion is that we should have done more earlier

  9. When I described Stecher I always said, "That guy is always where he shoud be , doing what he should be doing it, when he should be doing it."  I will miss watching him like crazy, but he doesn't owe us anything. He left it all out on the ice.

I am thrilled Boeser is coming back.

Let's do this all again next year!

  10. The original store was here. It has been torn down. There is a marker at the site.  There is a scoop shop on Church St. The factory (which has a short tour) is in Waterbury. It would be a good stop for anyone venturing to Stowe.
