  1. I understand, why not judge a whole group by the actions of some of its members.... I met somebody last year who did not like the Sioux logo, I told them I didn't agree with what was happening and thought the NCAA was full of it, but I guess I had better change my view and assume everybody wants the logo changed. By the way, I will still cheer for the Sioux against Michigan because when the dust settles on the Frozen Four I will still enjoy watching the Sioux and if UMD can beat Notre Dame, I want them to beat the best to win the title. ...also, I will never cheer for a big ten team.
  2. I am a UMD fan and have attended the final five for years and have always supported the Sioux, expecially when playing against the Gophers. I have seen asshole Sioux fans at the final five every year, but I have never considered them representative of the entire Sioux fan body. However, from reading this thread, I guess all the UMD fans are bad because of some assholes at the final five... GO Michigan!
  3. Point taken. As I said earlier, I have seen every game UMD played this year and Friday was not typical. But you kind of made my point for me. On Friday UND totally outplayed UMD, was going against a freshman goalie playing his 4th game, and UMD still was in a situation where they could tie with the goalie pulled. You said Saturday could have gone either way, I agree....but Friday could have as well. Saturday is how they have played this for the majority of this season. I do agree that the Sioux are better than 7th in the nation, but you can't lose the games they have been losing and expect to be ranked higher.
  4. Good point on traveling to Alaska. You did not make the comments I was talking about, I am not ready to claim UMD as great either, but I have watched every one of their games and the Saturday team is the one I have seen this year. I don't even think about being the best in the WCHA right now, to early and to many games to play. I am still not sold on their goaltending, but I think they have the defense and forwards to do some damage this year. Time will tell. Wisconsin is better than I expected them to be, impressive considering how many players they lost. Omaha looks to be very good as well. Hopefully the Sioux Badger game will be on Directv, I will watch that on TV and UMD vs Tech on B2 Network.
  5. I think you make some good points. I would like to make two points. 1) UMD has played the schedule they were given, I don't think they should have to ask forgiveness because they have played weak teams. Also, UAA has a huge team, 12 of 18 guys over 6 ft (if I remember correctly...that is a team that is made for the small ice of the DECC. They have given UMD fits over the years, so to compare the Sioux's game against UAA on an big sheet to UMD's on the DECC is apples to oranges in my opinion. 2) The way I saw it, the pass on the two on one was great, because the Sioux D had cut off the cross pass and the path to the net.if Connally had stopped and looked for Fontainer, he gets flattened,if he goes to the net he gets flattened, I think the only way they score on that play is that pass. I find all the "UMD isn't that good" talk on here a little bit strange, way would you say a team only has one line when you just lost to that team? If the have only one line, shut it down...seems simple Frankly some of you guys sound like Gopher fans....we got beat by the refs, we had injuries, the other team isn't that good, they are too old, they are too young, they have too many guys with blond hair, too many guys with tatoos, the movie on the bus was bad, we ate at Taco Johns... I think the Sioux will be just fine and in I think they are still the team to beat, I hope tonight was a preview of a WCHA championship.
  6. I can't remember a college hockey series with so many blocked dump in's and blocked neutral zone passes. I don't think it was sloppy play either, the Sioux dominated this part of the game Friday, UMD dominated this part of the game tonight. I believe Faulk is UMD's top plus minus player at +8. Dylan Olsen (who is much improved over last year) is next at +7.
  7. I assume you know that UMD's second line has 33 points, 10 less than the first line and 3 more than the Sioux's top three scorers........the stats indicate they have more scoring than the one line. Good weekend of hockey. I think UMD got a huge break with the non call at the end of regulation and the Sioux did not get a bounce in the last five minutes. But, there were some questionable calls last night as well, couple on the Sioux and I thought the call on Lamb that lead to the Sioux 3rd goal was weak. Thats hockey. Glad this weekend is over, now I can get back to cheering for both teams next week. Go Dogs against Tech and Go Sioux against the Badgers.
  8. I agree, the less time I spend around Gopher fans the better.
  9. As I said before, I am a UMD fan first and Sioux second. I was hoping these two would avoid each other, but such is life. The good thing is I have a team to cheer for on Saturday night (and Saturday afternoon). The Sioux will be tough for the Dogs, but I expect a close game. Some are talking about the Sioux rolling four lines and getting an advantage because of it. UMD also rolls four lines and their third and fourth lines have 3 seniors, so that advantage may not be as great as some are saying. May the best team win tonight. One thing we can all agree on is......it sure will be nice to not have any more spelling lessons (m-i-n-n-e-s-o-t-a) this weekend.
  10. Gophers have the same problem they always have.....no role players. When 5 guys stand in front of the net calling for the puck, there is nobody to go get the puck.
  11. From this UMD fan.....it did hurt to lose Forbert. But Forbert's teammate Max Tardy chose UMD and he is also going to be a fantastic player, so that took some of the sting away. I also think UMD got a future star in Basabara from Shattuck. Btw, I am a new poster here but a long time reader. I am a Dogs fan first and Sioux fan second. I have always thought UMD and the Sioux take a similar approach to the game. I especially enjoy when the Sioux play the rodents in the final five.....I even had to buy a Sioux jersey to wear to those games.
