  1. I will be interested to see South's girls play. One would think they may have at least one college prospect given their dominance this year. Also interested to see the Kielpinski kid for Mandan's boys and Hanstad for Dickinson.

I agree I think South's girls ae gonna be hard to beat, but you can never count out Mandan considering they have have been in 12 of the last 13 state championship games. Ali Collins for Mandan is D-1 material and im sure fargo south has some to considering there whole starting lineup was on the all east region team. For the Boys I agree Joe Hanstad is crazy good and only a sophmore, I think he will go to a big D-1 School considering he already had offers from NDSU and UND I think after his freshman year. He is averaging 27.0PPG thats ridiculous. But Mandans Boys are really good and Willistons Quavle is a monster might be Mr. Football and Mr.. Basketball. Should be some interesting basketbal this weekend.

  2. Basketball State Tournaments start today just wanted to get everyones opinions or see if anyone cares? On the boys side Mandan is #1 in the state and 21-1 on the year, they are the clear favorites. On the girls side Fargo South is #1 and 22-0 but Century from the west is also a very solid team and you cant forget that Mandan has won 6 straight state titles.

    First Round Predictions: Girls

  3. I believe there they are looking at him. sounds like a solid warrior!

Ya he looks solid and has a chance for another state title coming up. He will probably go to the USHL I am assuming, I would think especially if they win state more incentive for him to leave.

35-23-58 not bad numbers for a junior maybe he wont go USHL but I think it would probably be better then playing for a Single A high school team.

  4. First Team

    G-Alex Stalock-UMD

    D-J.P Testwuide-DU

D-Either Garrett Raboin SCSU or Kurt Davis MSUM

    F-Ryan Lasch-SCSU

    F-Ryan Stoa-UM

F-My heart says Ryan Duncan-UND, but my brain says Chad Rau-CC or Garret Roe-SCSU

Tie breaker goes to Rau people just seem to like him more and hes a senior.

    Second Team

    G-Mark Cheverie-DU

    D-Chay Genoway-UND

D-Either Garrett Raboin SCSU or Kurt Davis who ever doesnt make first team.

    F-Schroeder-UM

    F-Garret Roe-SCSU

    F-Ryan Duncan-UND

    Third Team

    G-Brad Eidsness-UND

    D-Jaime McBain-UW

    D-Patrick Wiercioch-DU

    F-Eric Walsky-CC

    F-Chris VandeVelde-UND

    F-Paul Crowder-UAA

POY-Ryan Lasch numbers dont lie, team brings him down though.

ROY-I want to say its gonna be Eidness, bu you know its probably gonna be Jordan Schroeder.

In review its hard to imagine UND not having a first team player but since theres no "SuperStar" on the team its very possible. I really dont see Chad Rau making first team but the alternate is Garrett Roe and i dont see both him and Lasch and possibly Raboin making first team. Eidness has had the better season than Cheverie but, I think he gets the nod cause everyone still thinks that DU is better UND. I thnk VV strong play down the stretch sneaks him in but could also see Rahkshani in place of either him or Crowder.

    Please give opinions

  5. I'm pretty sure the NCAA record is Don McSween from Michigan State, who played in 180 straight, his last game coming in a loss to UND in the 1987 NCAA title game. Never missed a game in his career.

    http://web1.ncaa.org/web_files/stats/m_ice...20DI%202009.pdf

According to this Chris porter hold the NCAA record for comsecutive games played at 175, not sure if thats the most games played all-time, but they dont have a record for that in the record book. pretty sure thats the record though

  6. Oops I thought Forbort was a senior.

Based upon Heisneberg's site: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pq-...RsjRw&gid=1 It looks like we need to recruit another defenseman even if Genoway doesn't go early.

    Next year we will have:

    Genoway

    Marto

LaPoint-(assuming everything goes according to plan)

    Blood

    Finehage-SP?

Throw in Gleason and MacWilliam and you have 7, Including Miller they carry 8 this year and has seemed to work out quite well especially with injuries to Finley and LaPoint. Not saying they will but I could see them try and pick up one more D-man maybe not for this year but especially for the 2010 season. I just dont think it would hurt them, I mean unless they are superstar status right away they are probably gonna have to sit out games anyways.

  7. I just checked USCHO and they have us tied for 7.

On collegehockeynews.com they have us in sole possesion of 7th place in the pairwise. A couple of more good weekends and we might even be able to snag a number 1 seed, but thats a ways off yet, but we can all cross our fingers.

  8. Does anyone know anything about the Western Hockey League? I was at the Spokane Chiefs game on Friday night and, although I'm not a hockey scout, I saw what I thought was some excellently skilled players. Tokarski, Wahl, Johnson, etc. I see a lot of kids coming out of the USHL to the NCAA ranks, but very few if any from the WHL. Any ideas why this is??

Heres a link showing all the players drafted in last years NHL draft from the WHL. It says 37 in total and 9 players in the first round. I personally have never watched a game but they must have some decent players if they can get that many drafted in the first round, I'm sure thats more than the NCAA had (just guessing).

  9. i assume you know hes a junior so one year is all he would have left at und before hitting up the AHL and hopefully the NHL someday for him. juts saying that as you said "at least"

more than likely he wont but you can never be positive. sometimes its a combine decision between the player/school and nhl team which can have the biggest say in these decisions. i think he stays as well and as usa has said it all depends on what type of forward the coaches want between mattson and knight for that final forward spot if they do want that many forwards in next year

I know that hes a junior, I didnt mean it like that. I dont see the NHL calling his name after this year thats all, I meant he just needs more time to develop.

  10. Mattson will get drafted, likely >100. Knight probably not. That's a big leap in evaluation.

It's probably moot anyway - we probably have 1 too many F this year anyway and will probably only bring in 4.

If Vande leaves we will need a a 5th.

I dont see Vande leaving, not saying its not possible but I think he needs to develop atleast for one more year.

  11. Can someone explan to me how UND beat Denver last Friday night HUGE! and dont move anywhere in the Pairwise after that. and the same night Yale beats Cornell a team UND alson beat HUGE and they move up 10 SPOTS!! after Friday nights win. To me it really makes no sense considering we beat a team that was ranked right along with Cornell maybe not quite as high but definetly a top 10 team.
