  1. Jean-Phillip (Phil, JP) is currently a senior at UND, Jaques transfered from Northern Michigan to Air Force and is redshirting because of it, Pierre-Paul (PJ) played for the Bismarck Bobcats, Red Deer Rebels, and his final season of hockey just ended with the Tri-City Storm, Mario's season also ended with the Storm however his career will continue at UND next year. Jocelyn and Monique are twin sisters who attend Shattuck St. Marys Prep School and will be playing hockey for the University of Minnesota.

Each person mentioned above is a superior athlete and great individual.

You are missing breakin face, often refferred to as the black sheep of the family who didn't amount to much on the ice. He turned to a life of street crime before finding his road out of trouble in siouxsports.com. He now is a premiere top notch poster, who in less than a week on the site already has led a day in total posts. He plans on continuing to freshen up the site with witty banter, complex analysis, deep thoughts, and even the occasional fact. Critics say he will usher in a new era to the site and revolutionize the way we look at message boards.

  2. No, I believe they are telling you that in a thread about genetic lineage from past to present to future Sioux players, PJ, Jacques, and for that matter the twin sisters don't really count, since none of them ever did or will play for the Sioux.

Is the fog clearing yet? Need a GPS?

Colby Genoway, Travis Zajac, and Joe Finley's sister was mentioned before my post and that seemed to fly right under the radar, so I figured I was good to incorporate other siblings.

  3. Just to back up what mnbison said, the rings were awarded in 2006 when the Bison went 4-0 in-conference and 10-1 overall with no losses to I-AA opponents(just the 10-9 loss to Minnesota). The rings were a way to thank the Bison players who stuck it out through the dark transition years, as well as a way to commemorate a fantastic season that far exceeded even the most optimistic expectations. I believe the decision was made to only consider the conference rings during the transition, since no national championship rings were possible. Since the Bunnies won the GWFC championship this year, the 2006 rings will be the only conference rings given out by NDSU in football. I suppose it's possible that conference rings might be given out in basketball(since winning a NC will be almost impossible) or in football if NDSU were to ever go FBS(for the same reason), but I'm almost positive that you won't see rings given out for a Gateway(or Missouri Valley Football Conference) championship.

It's good to hear the Ag school has upgraded from the gold star and a live goat for rewarding there players.

  4. except when you take a dive you usually get a penalty for it!

If you dive you get 2 minutes, along with tripping, and hooking. Avery as of this week would receive goalie interference another two minute penalty. When he did this it was not considered a penalty by the officials and received 0 minutes. In my opinion that isn't bush league.

Bush league includes Chris Simon two handing someone in the face, or stepping on someone's leg. When McSorely tomahawked Donald Brashear in the head, that was also bush league. Todd Bertuzzing breaking that poor Av's players neck is also bush league.

  5. No, it's because they had it in December the weekend after the Gopher series. They had their little skills competition and then the autograph session. I hate giving out "inside info" but I feel since this affects a lot of people... I met with Hakstol at the beginning of the year, and he told me about that and said it would more than likely take the place of having an autograph session at the end of the year. I had to rack my brain for that memory.

Sounds to me like a Martha Stewart-esque defense, I don't think it would hold up in court.

  6. no that was a classless act and a dumb play I have ever seen! it is just one of those unwrittin rules that you dont do something like that! you wouldnt need someone like scott stevens claude lemieux or scott neidermayer if you didnt have bush league players like Avery.

--Breakin face "The Voice of Stupid"

Why is it any different than having a hippo type power play? Would it be classless to put Chara in front of the net on the power play to screen the goalie? I realize Avery has quite the reputation around the league, and has done some uncalled for acts in the game of hockey, but to criticize him for this of all things is unwarranted. A bush league play in my opinion is swinging your stick like a baseball bat at another opponent, sucker punching a guy, or running a guy away from the play. Waving your stick in front of a goalie's face on the other hand is the equivalent of taking a dive.

  7. Let's say hypothetically the name gets canned in the next couple years and it is changed. Do you think UND crowds will stop ending the anthem "...and the home of the SIOUX!!!", yelling "Sioux Yeah Yeah", or "Hey Go Sioux"? I for one don't see these chants leaving with the nickname. This bears the question to the tribes whether or not changing the nickname will have any affect on how the fans look at University of North Dakota athletics. Discuss playas.

  8. What Sean Avery did was one of the most classic and smartest hockey plays I have ever witnessed. What he did was perfectly legal according to the league's rules at the time. He was out of the crease and screening the goalie in the most creative way I have ever seen. It's almost a shame the Rangers did not score on that play to really cap it off. Instead of ripping on Avery we should be complaining about the spineless New Jersey Devils team that wouldn't run a guy who was messing with their goalie. Would Scott Stevens, Claude Lemieux, or Scott Neidermayer allow that to happen, absolutley not. Maybe thats why the three guys I named won Stanley Cups in New Jersey and the current Devils watch Stanley Cups.

  9. The Wild lack a big forward with solid hands. Rolston is getting up there, we need a young guy, like a Kunitz, Getzlaf, or Thornton type forward. It seems like we have finesse Euro's or brawlers. Name one other team have guys like Boogard, Simon, and Voros in their line up. I think Leipold will spend money, he has always wanted to come back home and put a winner in Minnesota. If he can land a premiere proven name, a Cory Perry or Marian Hossa for instance, this off season I think this could be a team ready to make a run.

  10. the "im as big of IF NOT BIGGER fan" card is an old one. congrats, im sure you are a bigger sioux fan than all of us here, even though you missed the fact that this was kozek's junior year, so unless he gets some special ncaa aproval, it would be tough to see him "shoot the puck for two more years at REA". it may be good business for him to take his money now, but if he is not ready, and he doesn't perform well when given chances by atlanta, that would not be good business for kozek.

    Correction noted.

  11. i know you have not been here long, as breakin face anyways, but it is obvious you are trying to get reactions without adding anything worthwhile. kozek may or may not go pro. he also played and benefited from some very talented linemates, but that does not take away from the player he is, and that is an nhl caliber player. proclaiming yourself a guru and martyr is not winning you any points either. the majority of us on ss.com come here to talk about our team as we wait for next season to start, but pointing out the players flaws and weaknesses, and why they should go pro because they would suck as a sioux player next year should not be what this board is for.

    ps - it's geoff

I'm just as big of a Sioux fan if not bigger than anyone on here. I am not however someone who believes every single player that puts that jersey on is Wayne Gretzky either. Kozek reminds me a lot of another former draftee by the name of James Massen who accumulated 15 goals and 20 assists in 42 games his sophomore year. His junior and senior year he had thirteen points combined in 59 games. Massen had one of the best snap/wrist shots on those teams. Do you think the Devils were more interested in James after his sophomore year or his senior year? I would love to watch Kozek shoot the puck for two more years at REA, but from a business stand point he might want to take his cash while he can get it.

  12. I watched Miller play a lot in high school, I think we are going to be alright without him. He was able to finish against the lower/mid-tier high school teams, but seemed to struggle when the games meant a little more. He has decent size, but lacks speed to really be a strong forward down low. I would compare him to a Mike Howe or Brad Malone type player. He may work out for the Gophs if he is willing to accept the role given to him. I wouldn't consider him a key miss however.

  13. it can be arranged that you can leave. If you want to be liked, then don't piss people off. By saying that Kozek won't go anywhere is not helping your case. The posters on this board may change, but the rules haven't. The rules are be nice and state your opinion in a respectful way. I don't care if you disagree with me, but do not tell me that I am wrong just because I don't agree with you.

Andrew will do fine no matter what he does and he is a great player and person.

When did I tell you you were wrong? I have been told my wife was yelling out Kozek's name in bed, I think that's more offensive than anything I've said on here. You all need to lighten up a bit, I've been here for two days said I don't see Kozek having another year like this year, and you treat me like Jeff Paukovich?

--Breakin Face "The Victim of Society's Ways"

  14. So let me understand this... Don't believe what Kozek has done this year, he still sucks?

    Gotcha.

    GO KOZEK!

HIstorians out there, Kozek has been told to sign with the Thrashers before next season has even begun. We've seen sign Joe Finley and Brian Lee threads before, but is the Sign Kozek call count as the earliest someone has been thrown off the bus?

I don't know what Kozek will do professionally, but if he decides to come back, he made the right decision. IF he goes pro, so be it. I'll support him either way.

I don't want to see Kozek leave, you guys are spinning this worse than cable news shows. You can never have enough upper classman in college hockey in my opinion. I was just trying to make the point that he probably won't have a better season goal-wise next year. If Kozek improves in the defensive zone next year, and can eclipse the ten goal mark again, it will be considered a successful season. I expected more out of this forum to be honest, you guys are playing the homer card pretty hard right now and not looking at his game as a whole. A few more years of me and I might have this place straightened out.
