This works like a Roku, but also has XBMC, Google Apps, and a web-browser that will also run videos.  I used it to watch NCHC.tv games.  Works good, I've watched North Dakota (MidCo) and Miami (TWCSC) games.  Set it up once and not have to worry about plugging in a laptop and will free up using another device like a phone or tablet (chromecast).  It's basically what should be imbedded in every SmartTV.

    ^^^^BUY ONE OF THESE ^^^^

I bought one and have really enjoyed using it. This box plays everything I have thrown at it where the others (roku, Chromecast, smart TV, etc...) have failed. I plan to buy at least two more. One to replace a HTPC that I built and was planning on spending upwards of $600 to upgrade the processor. No need now with a <$90 android box.

The stock browser will pay the NCHC games fine. And can download any other browser if needed via the Google play store. It even has XBMC installed for a nice interface. Although kind of complicated to use and set up.

It comes with a remote. But I downloaded droidmote server on the box which is $2.99. And the droidmote client on our phones (free). Allows you to control by a mouse, keypad, and even a game controller. Can even use the phone popup keyboard (swipe) for faster text entry in browser usage.

I'm not sure about the big sky or whatever else games. But if it has flash or any other current html5 it will play in the stock browser. If not, then try Firefox or chrome. Something not even apple TV has!

I just wish there was a easy kiosk mode or login for guest on the NCHC so I can let my parents use without access to account stuff.

  2. I recommend never going to buffalo wild wings ever again. My wife and I went to one in the cities yesterday after I called to verify they would have the game on. Walk in and get a table where they had the Sioux game on one of the bigger projection screens. Ordered food and everything was good. Until, 4 minutes into the third period they changed it to the jayhawks basketball game. I asked our server to change it back. He had to bring the manager over to explain that the bigger screens are reserved for "march maddness" but we can change a smaller tv to the sioux game.

Needless to say I was not happy and walked out to never go to this dump again.

  3. The Area around the Target Center is actually better than the area around the Xcel for eating and drinking establshments.

This may be true in terms of more options for eating and bars. However, reading through the comments in this thread many of you will be disappointed in the target center and lack of hockey atmosphere downtown.

Minneapolis is not a hockey town which is why St Paul has the Xcel center. And the bars have a hockey atmosphere in St Paul. Minneapolis is known more for night clubs than anything. And for sports it is basketball, baseball, and football.

Which brings me to the Target Center. This place is a dump. Sight lines are terrible for basketball where the Timberwolves home is. I can't imagine what hockey will be like but not good.

This is a huge let down to us hockey fans.

  4. I saw this during a break in first period of ushl game. I said WTF. This us what we get for having a Texas company build and maintain this. The Red Bull crashed ice people in St. Paul use blow torches at least.

I don't know... I wish they would have had plans to play this inside Tonight at 7 regardless. Meaning if 6 still isn't good then indoors.

  5. I am pretty sure that ESPN2 had a Lacrosse game on last year. :D :D

Ah yes, I remember that quite well. They were televising a lacrosse game with about 3,000 fans in attendance (if that). Pathetic...

I am in an area where my cable provider doesn't have ESPN360 (for online). Grrr...I really do need to move out of the swamps of FL.

  6. LIVING DOWN HERE IN FLORIDA (TAMPA BAY) I'LL BE WATCHING TONIGHT'S GAME THANK YOU DIRECTV. FOR THE RECORD, I'LL BE WEARING MY SIOUX JERSEY FROM 2000. SO LET'S GO SIOUX LET'S FINISH THE JOB.

    SIOUX FAN SINCE 1973.

    Sweet, I'm in Tampa too!!!

Does anyone think this game will be broadcast on JustinTV??? I don't have DirecTV.

  7. fox college sports drives me mad!! It says hockey is to be on but it is football and they are supposed to start at 730pm.

Same for me (channel 174 in Iowa), they are showing the rest of a football game (EWU vs NAU) about 7 minutes left. The frickin score is 52 to 17. Who cares, switch it off and go to the hockey game dammn't
