  1. Look at the records....scattered with "missed playoffs"...so no. *Insert Family Feud red strike sound effect here*

What part of "Has never missed the playoffs and is in the Frozen Four more often than not" is difficult to understand?

If a pro coach made the playoffs every year (which, is easier), and the conference finals 5 out of 9 years....they would not be fired...

  2. Instead of dusting the old one off, lets start the new one up.

Time to fire the head coach.... The guy can't coach at all. Why do we pay him all of this money.

He's been to the Frozen Four five out of nine seasons. Hakstol's teams have won 20+ games nine season in a row, his teams have made the Final Five every year that he's been the head coach.

UND has won four WCHA Playoff and 2 WCHA regular season Championships under the much maligned head coach.

In addition, Hakstol's teams have made the NCAA tourney every year that he's been at UND and UND just because the team with the longest streak 11 years.

To put this into perspective, SCSU has won 2 NCAA games in their school's history. This is Yale's first trip to the Frozen Four in 60 years.

It's hurts that UND didn't win it all this year, but it's not like UND won't be back soon.

I will be back, again next season.

*The author of this post realizes that many are frustrated with the current loss of the UND hockey program. This a shot at satire. But also a place for fans to blow off steam.

    Well played, Goon....
  3. Gophers? :silly: Sorry, HAD to do it!
    You forgot Bison...:D

    Windy,

If this is what it takes for it to be a good day to be native that is sad. Your leaders have dishonored your elders and ancestors who told UND and restated to UND in the past that the name was OK. That is not consistent with your Native Culture according to every single elder I have spoken with.

I agree with you, and have stated some time ago, that it is past time for the name to change. I no longer wish for my University athletic teams to attempt to honor a group whose leaders have no honor. They do not show leadership on the reservations. The plight of the native children is pathetic. The tribal chair at Spirit lake is correct when she says they have more important things to worry about. The problem is, she needs to quit worrying and do something about those things. The guy at Standing Rock, His Horse is Smarter, is a blatant racist and shouldn't lead anyone. It makes no difference that the majority support the name, the tribal councils won't vote to support the name. (I am not sure you realize that those folks wouldn't ever be in leadership positions off of the rez).

What should remain are programs to help native kids get a decent education and achieve the skills to get off the reservations and succeed in the real world. That should be for the kids on the rez as well as at UND.

I will not enter any reservation unless necessary to pass thourgh and I will not support any reservation business. I will not vote for any political candidate who supports any reservation program not required by treaty or law nor will I donate money to their campaigns. I will support Native businesses off of the reservation and continue to work to help Native kids who wish to get an education and make a better life for themselves.

You and your leaders have spoken and made it very clear we are not welcome and we will continue to be judged by you and your friend by our ethnicity. Your leaders have shown they will not honor those who have come before them and therefore can't be trusted.

In the language of the people who kicked the Sioux the hell out of Minnesota, Migwetch. (it was the Chippewa not the Europeans).

While I respectfully disagree with your stance on the nickname, this is probably the best response I've read from the anti-nickname standpoint.

If/when the nickname is retired (leaning more towards when, and have been since the settlement was announced) UND should in no way (nor do I think they will) cut funding or programs for Native Americans. They were created to help Natives succeed in life, not because of our nickname. To punish those students because of this would be ridiculous and asinine.

    Their primary tennant was.
So? I believe the logos in the arena can stay if they are a part of the structure (banners included), and we will not be penalized by the NCAA...someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

    Long live the Fighting Sioux!!!

  4. sadly, I am unable to make the games AGAIN this year, otherwise MinnesotaNorthStar and I would find a place to tailgate and I could clean a few beers out of UND fans trying to play BeerDarts!
Consider yourself lucky, I wouldn't want to school you at your own game, in front of a bunch of Sioux and Gopher fans :D
  5. Um, what? ???

I'm going to agree with Slap Shot here...I actually thought that Michigan's 3rd goal was a gift as the last two penalties that were called seemed a little questionable to me...

Minny's PP played very well. Michigan's PK didn't suck, they just made 5 mistakes...and the Gophers capitalized...on all 5.

  6. Do you know how hard it would be to throw a dead gopher from corner in the upper deck. Yikes I don't have the arm I used too. Maybe we can get some students to do it for us. :silly::lol:;)

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Are you kidding? They watch us like hawks...maybe Russ or Kevin might let us get away with it though...

Plus, I don't know how to get it in...my pockets are full with booze when I go to the games....maybe Diggler could, he doesn't drink :D

  7. Anyone else think that Zach Jones looked a lot like Matt out there? If it weren't for the number, I'd have thought Hak brought his brother back for an encore. Hopefully he's here for 4 years, should be a fun player to watch...

These new defensmen really like jumping up in the play, but overall I like what I saw from them...Alexander is definately a recruiting steal...

  8. Fine, we change the name...then we drop all Native American programs and scholarships...let them fend for themselves the way most college students do...

Change it to the Fighting Irish...and give me and my heritage scholarships and programs...just for being Irish...

And neither of you answered my question...are you named after a relative?

The reason I ask is that my brother and I are both named after my grandfather...I highly doubt they would do that to disrespect him. We generally name things after people to honor them...not disrespect them...
