  1. It is probably hand timed..... a hand timed 4.37 is probably closer to a 4.45 electronically timed... if you watch the NFL combine the times they give as the guys run are hand timed... Later they will give you the official time (electronic) which is always .05 to .1 secs slower. But that is still very very fast

  2. Maybe 4.37 is in Canadian time.

  3. My favorite part of the video is the missed field goal and he takes it back 103 yards or somthing. that was against decnet competition too as it look liekd that was the canadian all star game.

    we have a new #18.

Do canadian prep and colleges play under the same rules as the CFL?

  4. I am assuming that they will be able to get 11 games or is that wishful thinking. How can you be in a conference and not play the other teams in that conference. I guess I am a little un-educated as to how the FCS works.

  5. I see Rashad Gayden, a LB from Cooper HS, signed with Wahpeton. Reportedly, UND had some interest during the recruiting period. Also signing at NDSCS was Derek Earls, a RB/LB and all-metro player from Waconia. Future JUCO options?

I'm surprised we haven't gone that route a little bit this year. Wasn't the plan to jump to the full complement of 63 scholarships with this recruiting class? I would think it would be nice to spread the new schollies out a little bit and bring in some immediate help at the same time. (Although if I remember right, some of last year's big class said there was going to be a bump in schlarship money for them once we officially were operating under FCS limits.)

It would only make sense to spread the scholarship money over players in all five yrs. If you are going to give say 40 full-rides. I would think the smart thing to do would be to distribute them relatively equally over the five year groups. That way the graduating class would surrender enough to entice enough talent during the next recruiting year. I remember one of the staff telling me that in order for UND to be able to schedule FBS teams starting in 2010 they would have to maintain at least 52+ scholarships in 2008 and 2009.

  6. Thanks for the link to the video Big#75. He looks like a man among boys. A couple of observations. He always seems to push his man at least 10 yards down the field and he doesn't stop until the whistle. Many times it seemed like the opposing player didn't even want to engage him. Impressive.

No one has been able to handle him the last two years. He did very good against kids his size at both Notre Dame, Washington , and Eugene Nike camps this past summer. If he gets with a good experienced line coach who can work on this technique (pad level, positioning), my biased opinion is he can go as far as he wants too.

  7. Ian Rosario is going to UND. Before he committed to UND he was on the bubble for several of these teams. As someone else state those where the D1 schools he was originally interested in, two of which showed interest in him. Bottom line he was the odd man out at Washington, Notre Dame liked him in camp last year but has one hell of a recruiting class. He is not going anywhere else. Hopefully he will make you all happy that he is a Fighting Sioux.

Not sure if anyone is interested but see below for a link to Ian Rosario's Senior Highlight film. He is the #75 Right Tackle in all but one set of highlights where he is the Left Tackle (white socks).

  8. Per a poster on minnesotapreps.com, Ethan Magstadt has committed to UND. Here's some info on him. Although he played exclusively running back, I think he's possibly projected as an outside linebacker in college. The ESPN recruiting site projects him as a fullback. link. According to scout.com, he received "medium interest" from the Gophers.

Just wanted to clear up what seems to be some confusion with the recruiting websites. The interest level listed beside each university in a players profile is the recruits interest in that program not the programs interest in the recruit. You have be careful about the information on these sites. Much of it cames from the recuits. I know rivals and scouts both have combines that they do and that data will be marked as such. The ESPN recruiting site has probably the best reports on each prospect. These reports are generated from highlight video that you send them.

  9. Here is Ian Rosario's bio on ESPNU's recruiting tracker. I will post the link but I dont know if anyone else has the insider or if the insider is needed to view the page. Here it is:

Incase you can't see without the Insider these are his schools of interest in order.

    1. Boise State

    2. Oregon State

    3. Washington

    4. Washington State

No, ND in the mix. Unless if this is a different Ian Rosario, which i don't think it is, are we going to lose another commit? Can we actually land a guy who's looking at those competing programs?

  10. At this point, I no longer really care. What's done is done. Southern Illinois apparently wasn't recruiting him before very recently, and as mentioned a number of times, Cavil committed to UND after Lennon's departure was known. But such is life. I really don't want a kid here who isn't 100% committed to UND, anyway. I have far too much respect for Dale Lennon to throw him under the bus for this, but I do have to ask rhetorically whether this kid is truly good enough to warrant the risk of hard feelings this may cause with the current UND coaching staff? :angry:Maybe it would be easier to justify if it was a once-in-a-generation player like Weston Dressler or Digger Anderson, but I certainly wouldn't put Kyle Cavil in that category from what I know about him.

A day before my step-son committed to UND, I contacted Coach Lennon at SIU to see if he would have interest in him there since he had offered him at UND. My step-son committed to UND prior to SIU getting back to me. The first question asked was had he committed to UND... Now I don't know exactly why they had asked the question, but my best guess is that Coach Lennon had no intention of talking to a kid that had already committed to his old school (and once committed we had no intention of entertaining further offers). If you keep a close look at D1 football, which we have done through this entire recruiting process, I think you would all be surprised by the number of programs that would recruit a kid after he had committed to another school. The better the athelete the more often this would happen (especially in the same conference). From this incident and from my step-sons dealings with both Coach Lennon and Mussman I think you have lost a man with a great deal of intregity and gain a new coach with that same make up. Count your blessings.

  11. No, I'm sticking with the retractable roof stadium. I'm guessing he didn't know about one thing in your post.

Maybe that's why UND coaches decided to "move up" the construction date of that stadium on the recruiting trail. They were using the "Rick" script of recruiting pitches and it wasn't working. That list of "famous" alums must knock their socks off. I'm thinking you would have had to live in North Dakota at least 40 years to know who half of those people are.

Or it just could be that even high school football coaches in Alaska tell there athelete's parents that UND had the best damn facilities in DII and from his point of view will be in the top 10 of D1 FCS.

  12. Hey, cut the kid some slack. It was probably a sper of the moment type comment that wasn't worded quite correctly. It happens to everybody. I have been in interviews before, they ask you something, and you say the first thing that comes to mind without trying to sound like a dork. I imagine it was just a slight mis-wording.

These kids are probably extremely excited and a little nervous when on an official visit. Everything the UND coaches have told my step-son as far as I am concerned is the facts as they know them. The coaches have been honest with both him and us.

  13. Sioux get another verbal commitment from 6'5" 315lb offensive lineman Ian Rosario out of Alaska. Had an official visit to the University of Washington and they offered him a walk-on. I believe Washington State was going to ask him to do the same. Big pickup for the Sioux.

Rosario was fifth on the University of Washington OL recruiting depth chart. They were orginally going to take 5 O-lineman but Coach Willingham changed his mind. Washington State has been be quite since there coaching change.

    Rosario Scout.com profile

You are getting a really big-strong kid. His HS coach was also Kuper's head coach. With his 6'6" frame and growth potential in the upper body, he could easily carry 320lbs(310lbs right now). He has a massive lower body. 2007 1st Team Coach's and Alaskapreps All-State OT. No one in Alaska can even come close to handling him.
