  1. [Hmmm lets see, in the lineup we could have Johnson, Okopso and Kessel. Looks to me like the Goofs are an "E" away from having the JOKE line. Of course if Johnson were too leave just add Chucko and Hagemo into the mix for (how appropriate) the CHOKE line. ]

    :D:D:D

  2. Alot of fans were yelling at  parise for not coming out of the net after a penalty was called on saturday when it was in our zone and with our passes, if he came out, we would be in danger. Yet they also yell and moan when he comes out of the net when the opposition is around what should he do ?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I can understand a little about being "cautious" with the puck in our zone. There is a big difference between coming off the ice when you can have the extra attacker, or you are just out of your net to do something with the puck!

  3. I think ripping off the pull tabs is the whole story.  No excuse, no mitigating circumstances, cut and dry, he did it.

There may be lots of politics in hockey but Lamourex starting over Brandt is solely due to a big talent gap.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    As you say......

  4. Ya mean like getting busted for ripping off pull tabs with some skirt, and then not having the stones to tell your coach, leaving him to find out from the press? Must be that "personality thing" you keeping harping about.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

  5. Interesting that Sioux hockey should be a welfare state or entitlement program to certain people.  Hakstol, as Blais before him, plays the people who work to earn the position.  Coming into the season, Brandt's job was his to lose.  Well, he lost it.  If he's as good as he should be at this stage of his career, he wouldn't be wearing a tie on game night.  ???

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Welfare state? If you don't think there is a certain amount of politics going on here I think you're mistaken. (my opinion). I have no problem with the 3 goalies. Phillipe is doing quite well, I don't have an issue with him playing, he's doing well. Parise isn't a terrible goalie either.......

However, as far as your comment to wearing a tie, and if Brandt was good, etc.... that has a lot to do with the coach and his decision. I still say he (Brandt) has more experience, and would be as good or better as Parise. (nothing against Jordan)......but how do you not even give a Senior a shot? In my opinion, it wasn't his position to lose.......but rather already was close to being decided well before the opening game! Apparently Jake's personality isn't "meshing" with the coaches.

All the stats show he has the talent to win games. How has he "lost" his position? by playing poorly? hardly.......

    again, just my opinion.......

  6. I am with you on that one!!

Sorry not a big Scotty Hennen fan. :D

Hard to seperate him from the guy that used to live at the same apt. building I did so many years ago...

I will leave the story there...

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

From a fans perspective, his voice brings the atmosphere to a different level than when someone else is announcing. A little energy goes a long ways........it's not the same when he's gone!

I agree with the concept that if Gopher fans can't stand him, then he's doing the job!

  7. Tim O'Connell Florida Everblades on a two way with Lowell

    Trevor Hammer Mexico Scorpions

    Aaron Schneekloth Mexico Scorpions

    Chad Mazurak Whichita Thunder

If any remember Mike Possin he ia also playing for Mexico Scorpions

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Bryan Lundbohm plays for the Fort Worth Brahma's

  8. Then please explain why the NHL (who allows fighting) is a much rougher and cheaper brand of hockey than the NCAA (who doesn't tolerate that crap).

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Doesn't seem to matter what is written on here, you are set in your ideas.........so why bother.

  9. Yeah, you made our point for us...If it's only up to the refs..it will happen all game long, and nobody likes to see constant special teams. And also, no fighting would lead to more injuries, and more career threatening injuries. If the enforcers weren't there to protect the skilled players...the skillled players wouldn't be playing hockey for very long...trust me...

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Fighting keeps this crap to a minimum! If there wasn't some fighting allowed, it would be an even rougher, or cheaper sport!

  10. Are you trying to say a Division 1 athlete can't play two games a week?  If so, thats sad.  What are they going to do when playoffs come and they have to play three games a weekend?  Keep rotating all three?  I would say they don't play enough games a week.  They should play atleast four times a week if possibe just to stay sharp.  Playing once a week is tough to do.  They should go with one guy until they prove they either can do it, or can't do it.

I will atribute most of the goals given up this year to taking way too many penalties, and I agree "JPar"(as you like to call him) hasn't done too bad.  But there is a difference in not doing too bad and being a number one goalie.  If you look at Phil's numbers they are pretty damn good,  much better than Parise's.

In regards to Brandt.  As i recall the '01-'02 season Kollar was a senior, and he had always gotten the job done before so Blaise tried sticking with him.  Which was probaly the right thing to do.  Now Brandt is the senior.  He is second all time at UND in GAA and shutouts, 3rd in save% and 4th in winning%, but where does that leave him??  You would think it would be his job to lose...insted they leave him at home.

And my comparison to the coaches.  I think you would agree that Blaise was a pretty alright coach.  Hak was head coach in Sioux City, he had them at the bottom of the league.  The following year, new coach, they win it all.  I mean thats not defining a career, but i don't think anyone would be too proud of that.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

When you have a choice between forward players, or defenseman......it would be a rare occasion to sit (or leave home) an upperclassman because they had a "bad day of practice"? So why would goaltending be much different? To me, when Brandt has had the big game experience, let him play in an actual game and see what happens! I had a High school football coach tell me......"if we played players according to how they'd practice, you'd never see the field come game time". However, I was a much better "Game time" player than I was in practice......I ended up starting 2 years for the games.......

My point? See what happens in the actual game, and go from there!

    Give Brandt a chance again!

He hasn't lost the battle in my opinion, cause he hasn't had any games to lose!

  11. For anyone that has played the game, fighting for the most part is spontaneous! I get revved up when there are a few scuffles, and even a fight here and there!

Do I think that everyone should be able to fight at will? No! But a few fights here and there are bound to happen.....and for someone to be all upset over it? Come on......Hockey is a fast moving, hard hitting game.....a fight on occasion shouldn't spoil the experience of being at a game! If a team is losing badly, and the only reason they fight is to be a poor sport....probly not a good idea. However, sometimes a fight (warranted) will get a team's spirits up! Let's see......Mike Commodor vs. the Wisconsin Badger, David Hale vs. Mankato......I'm sure there are more.......they inspired the team, and I believe ended up either winning, or sparking the teams after playing flat!

I think back to the days when the smaller Sioux goalies would consistantly get "run" by other team "cheap shots"! To me, now there's a time where a player should be allowed to kick the crap out of the other team's player who consistently is a cheap shot, running goalies, etc!

  12. Goon:

"In hindsight I wish Coach would haved started Lammy on Saturday night. Brandt proved my theory that he is not menatally ready to play when he stepped on the ice. The famous puck from around the net goal happened again. I can't till this kid graduates."

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't see how you blame this loss on Goaltending? What did Brandt do to make the team play the way they did? They were a step behind from the get-go!

My opinion, maybe if he would have gotten the "start" and not the "relief appearance"....maybe that would have inspired the team? I'm not making excuses for him as you need to be ready to go on a whims noticie.......but when we have 3 shots on net the first period? come on!

  13. I think the team needs a "spark plug" and someone to step up and take control! Whoever thought that losing a couple graduating seniors, and Bochenski, Parise would not hurt us was Dreaming! Take a look at how much they would control the game? I think we do have some great talent here, but I will wait a few weeks to judge further!

Anytime you lose 6-0 to a team on your home ice, there is some reason for concern! There was very little intensity for the game Saturday. There were some flashes, but intensity, crisp passing, and getting shots on net weren't there!

We were a step behind most of the weekend! Is that from being in shape? I don't know, but....the teams in the past were great with their speed, and beating the other teams to the pucks whether it was on the forecheck, or simply trying to break out of our zone.

  14. Thanks, kr!

I'd throw in Canady for Fabian.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I'd have to say Fabian seems to have a better knack for the net......and shouldn't take the un-necessary penalties that have hurt Brian in the past.

  15. My cousin went to Meet the Sioux and he said that Fabian was introduced during player introductions but then was never on the ice durring the scrimmage. Does anyone know if he is hurt?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I think he received a concussion during practice this week. That's what his dad said anyways.

  16. What do you think of Colby???  I think that the kid is a great gamer and has hobey potential.  Also he was at Grizzlys last week eating pasta.(I think it was alfredo)

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I think he has some potential to be a good player on this years team. He needs to have consistency in the big games......as far as Hobey potential?? Let's not get ahead of ourselves! If Bochenski or Parise couldn't get it, I would have to say Colby's a few steps behind them....no offense to him.

  17. Has anyone thought about the new assistant coaches position on Jake. Remember Jake was at Roseau and he was at Warroad...a BIG Rivalry. Hope he doesn't take it out on Jake.

    Just a thought!!!

Yes it is a BIG rivalry, but with rivalries come respect. I would highly doubt that it would have any impact on anything to do with the Sioux. In fact if anything, I think it would help Jake.

  18. I wonder if the recruiting factor played any part in the asst. coach hiring. A majority of USHL players have already committed to schools, however there is still a nice hockey factory in Warroad full of high school kids that have yet to give verbals.

He already "recruited" most of them once, it shouldn't be hard to do it again!

  19. Never know which brandt shows up; likes to be 2 down before he gets into it? Cost us Wis and mo; saved us and won wcha for us in Duluth. I'm not a fan of his but what'ya do? Put'm 3rd and let'm practice intensly or he doesn't get in.

It'd be interesting to see how Jake performs if he doesn't have his mind messed with the whole season too........have we forgotten?
