  1. I don't think Bickel or any other college player is woried about Finley. I guess I've never seen Finley in a real college hockey fight. I've just seen him push and shove and pull on jerseys. Maybe I missed one that I don't know about?

  2. Players like the Potulny's and Harrington were the type that needed to be developed. When Harrington came to MN, nobody ever thought he could make an NHL farm team. I agree that you probably won't hear anything like that from Johnson, Kessel or Vanek because they are so good they didn't need any college team or coach to help them make the NHL. They had the talent to go to the NHL before they got to the MN.

  3. OK, apparently you missed the point of my post because your comment had nothing to do with the point that I was making. Either that or you didn't do that well in English 101. The point, so you understand, is that Garth Snow's comments are not the first time that was mentioned about Lucia or the Gophers over the past couple years. The second point is that you don't hear those comments about UND when a player leaves for the NHL. The point was not about whether Toews would be in the NHL now if he didn't go to UND even though you may think it was. Hell, even if Toews went to Holy Cross, he'd be in the NHL now.

So take a moment, work your way through English 101, try to understand the original point I was making, and then come back at me again and see if you have a different understanding of what I was saying. I'm sorry, but that's all the help I can offer you. I can't teach ignorance. BOTTOM LINE!

Oh and by the way, to some players, it does matter what school they choose to go to that they feel will best help their development towards the NHL. So even what you said there was wrong too. I'm sorry I rained on your parade.

I wasn't commenting on your original point about hearing those comments about lucia for the first time. I was just stating my opinion about UND being such a factory for developing NHL players. It doesn't matter to the top talented players. It does to the player who needs to stay for 4 years in college and then hopefully make the NHL. As for English 101, I don't think I need to worry about that. Try to simmer down please. It is o.k. to disagree on things on a message board is't it?

  4. One item that I don't know has been brought up, but is Snow's comments about Lucia and the Gophers are not the only time those comments have been made in recent memory of the Gophers. Similar comments have been made by other NHL teams, other players who left, or others close to the players. Take for example, when Chucko left, Calgary wanted him out at midseason but Chucko stayed even though Calgary didn't like what was happening to him. Granted, he hasn't developed much since then either but the comment was still made about the Gopher program. Eric Johnson last year had made some statements about his utilization and Kessel (and his parents) also intimated at such things. So Snow's comments are not just completely out of left field. It was also rumored that Pittsburgh wanted to Goligoski to develop in their AHL team also.

Do you think that if the Blues didn't think Oshie was developing correctly or that UND wasn't a good program to develope NHL talent, that they would leave him in school and not put any pressure on him to sign since he would be playing on the big club if he were there.

The point is, Snow's comment isn't just an isolated, one-time comment directed at the Gopher program (and indirectly at Lucia) in recent history. Somewhat of a pattern seems to be developing. But we haven't heard those same comments about UND's program. If I remember right, wasn't it Toews who said after he was drafted that if you want to develope towards playing in the NHL someday, you go to UND.

Do you actually think it matters to a top talented player like toews or okposo which school they go to. Of course they will pick one of the top programs in the country. Toews would be in the NHL right now with or without UND. BOTTOM LINE!

  5. One thing I noticed about lee is that his helmet always looks like it isn't pushed down all the way. (just joking) Other than that, I think he will be really improved for his junior and senior seasons if he stays. Any time a team can get a player to stay for his junior and senior seasons it is really valuable. Nothing beats experience and being an upper classmen. We at GPL were not happy with chucko at times and he ended up leaving after his 2nd year. I don't know if he was unhappy or calgary just wanted him in the pro game. Lee has been to two frozen fours, and that experience can't be replaced with a freshmen. I would want him to stay if I were you guys.

  6. If we were outplayed so bad, why did it take UND 10 minutes into the o.t. to win the game. Looks like two equal teams to me. MN isn't the only team that needed to do some soul searching. I recall that UND needed alot of soul searching in the first half of the year. Just be happy your team is in the frozen four.

    From Inside College Hockey

"For Minnesota, perhaps an off-season of soul searching is in order, as the Gophers were outplayed by both Air Force and North Dakota in their games at the West Regional, a common theme for them down the stretch. Often times, Minnesota is able to get by on superior talent, but as evidenced by the events this weekend, the most talented team isn't always the best team."

  7. Before the Final Five championship game, we all knew that UND and MN would probably meet in the regional. As a gopher fan, winning the Final Five was great. But I truly believed before the game last week, the team that lost the Final Five would win in the regional. Tough to beat a great team two weeks in a row in a playoff atmosphere. I'm proad of my team with the season they had, and congratulations UND.

  8. I'm quite certain Danny heard me last spring as he skated thru the line with Holy Cross when I yelled out "Where's the jersey pop now, Danny?".

In their defense, I think most of these kids learned the stupid "jersey-pop" trick from watching rubes at the Xcel Energy Center do it every time the fan cam strolls thru the arena. On a somewhat-similar issue, STOP DOING THE WAVE!

After Wheeler scored his goal saturday night, I was thinking something along the same lines. Lammy, Where's that glove flashing now? But we shouldn't be making a big deal of this stuff. Players from all teams do this stuff like jersey popping, or glove flashing. Like others have said in this thread, we're not on the ice hearing all the "trash talking", so when you score or make a big save, it could be natural to showboat a little just to give it back. We just don't want this stuff to get too carried away.

  9. I'm just commenting on the negativity I read on this board. If my team loses or goes through a mid season slump, I don't point fingers to other teams or their fans. It probably came down to how my team played out on the ice. Now last nights game was a hard fought close contest. End of story.

Maybe you lost 5 games in a row because your team was terrible, ever think of that you homersota fool? it should be an advantage .

It is bad enough we have to listen to you idiots at the X now we have to put up with your stupidity here on our message board

  10. no whining here. Let's meet agian on neutral ice. Go back to plymouth or burnsville, if you can find your way there from st. paul you tool.

Like others have said, the FF has to be held somewhere. Playing at the X has not been an advantage for the gophers. Before this weekend, they lost 5 straight games there. Just like playing at the ralph for you guys this year hasn't been an advantage to UND. Maybe you should go back to Minot, Dickinson or maybe even Neche!

  11. I guess the NCAA has decided to change the venue to the excel energy in St. Paul as the goofers would rather play there then going to Denver.

Loved when Fox was interviewing wheeler after the game he talked about how well min fans travel? (across the river to the X?;)?)

I want the goofers on neutral ice.

    Quit whining!

  12. Some of you guys look into to this way too much. I agree that it is just physiological talk. He's probably just repeating what the media has been saying about the sioux the last few weeks that they are un-stopable right now

Like Siouxguyinsaintpaul said, Dave made the same comments when the Sioux played the Gophers in January. So, I guess Haxstol says stupid comments also. This is nothing more than a physiological ploy that every coach uses.
