  1. Are you really done this time?

Now you are comparing a car to a gun. This gets better and better with every post.

Correct me if I am wrong but living in student housing is a choice made by you. If you do not like the rules of that establishment, then find another place to live. That simple.

No, the choice was made by my wife. 'Nuff said.

  2. "The gun is a tool just as a hockey stick is a tool. It's very specialized, and used by a trained person in their craft."

If that isn't a comparison than I have no idea what is.

The tree that I am hugging? I have to take my arms off of it to type? You are hilarious.

BTW, You are quick to respond today. I didn't know they had internet access at The Bun.

For the record, I am a republican. I have been hunting before. If someone chooses to have a gun in their home then I have no problem with that. All I am saying is, I do not believe they should have a place on a University campus.

I said that I was done with this post. But here's the end. I have never been to The Bun, so I wouldn't know. Maybe you can tell me next time you're there. The thing is, my university apartment is my home. Just as your house or apartment is your home. I should be free to do as I wish in my home within the confines of the law. Why should I not be able to do something that every other american in the U.S. can, something granted us by the US Constitution. So important that it's the 2nd amendment. Number 2. Why can't I do that, just because of where I live. There's no reason that I should not be able to have a firearm in my house when anyone else can, and that there is no law against it. Like I said, do you want to take your car down to the PD everynight when you're done using it? Think about it. I'm done.

  3. That's awesome bro. I've looked at those, but not in the subcompact, that's a hell of a gun you have there. Maybe someday I'll have one similar.

It is an awesome gun. I had the XD-40 4 inch, but traded it in for my Remington 700. Still a little sad over that one. One day I'll have it again.

  4. Look, nobody is asking you to pack. If you feel that the government and local law enforcement do an outstanding job protecting you, your family and property, and you are never going to enjoy hunting or other shooting sports, that's great. But, don't preach to everyone about something that you really know nothing about.

Triouxper, I'm done talking on this thread. You're saying everything i'm thinking. Thanks, at least one level headed guy. And yes, I like my XD-40 Subcompact to be with me wherever I go. Goodbye Thread.

  5. Your arguments are horrible. You just compared a hockey stick to a gun. Nice work. You convinced me.

What comparison is coming next? A tootsie pop is the same thing as a hand grenade.

Right. Because I said that a hockey stick IS a gun? Why don't you read it a little better. I said both are tools used in their trade. Why don't you go up a few posts and read triouxpers post. He summed it up beautifully. But for now, quit typing because the tree that you're hugging is getting cold because you have to take you arms off of it to type.

  6. First off, it isn't a tool. It's a weapon used to maim and kill. But that's beside the point...

I have to say I'm shocked to learn that something I've never used once in my entire life, and never will for as long as I live, is used "in most North Dakotans' lives every day"?

Don't you think that's just a bit of an exaggeration?

    :glare::D:)

No, I don't feel it's any bit of an exaggeration. I feel it is exactly as I said it is. And, the majority of North Dakotan's hunt, therefore, the statement "most" would apply. Also, if you knew anything about hunting, and a hunter's lifestyle, rather than trying to claim that all guns and hunters are the devil in disguise, you would know that some form of hunting can be done all year round. And if we're not hunting, most of us are practicing. We practice so that we don't end up "maiming" animals and they just die and not get used. The gun is a tool just as a hockey stick is a tool. It's very specialized, and used by a trained person in their craft. I'm not saying you have to agree with guns, i'm just saying that you have to realize that they are a reality. And you might have to come out from under the wool, they do exist, and will always exist.

  7. My post on the Herald Website

"Some people have the wrong idea on here. We just want to keep our guns IN OUR HOMES... Doesn't everyone keep there car with them? Do you want to have to take it down to the PD every night when you're done using it? Then check it out the next morning? More people are killed by cars every year than guns.. So, we had better start locking those up.. Right Hillary?? A gun is no different. It is a tool, used in most North Dakotans lives every day. A handgun IS used for lawful self defense by more people than I think most of you people realize, right HERE in GRAND FORKS. I carry every single day, and I guarantee none of you guys would pick me out for being a "Carrier". Why would we want to make the apartments a "Gun Free Zone". That directly equates to a "Hey Rapist, Robber, and other criminals, come get me, i'm unprotected." That's all that it will do is make us easy targets, and they know it. And for those of you that believe crime doesn't happen in GF, what about the girl raped two blocks from the Police Station??? Please people, be smart."

  8. I heard that the Sioux logo isn't at center ice... anyone been to practice that can confirm this? Any idea if it's just for this game... or is it for the season? I never was any good at being patient...

True, I was at practice this morning and center ice is Midcontinent Communications, I would assume that this is just for this game. The ice is set up as the NHL ice, which has extra lines behind the goal, and the blue line and red lines are farther apart. So they will have to redo the ice before the Sioux play.

  9. In Arizona you have to take an eight hour class before getting a licenses to carry concealed and is reciprocated or honored (I don't know the difference) in 20 states. In Arizona you can take a three hour class and get a Utah license to carry concealed and is reciprocated or honored in 26 states. But even though it's given and taken in Arizona, Arizona residents can't carry concealed with this Utah license but a non-resident can.

I would like to take the Arizona 8 hour class but I like the extra six states offered with the Utah license. They're both $119. I'm looking at getting a .357 that shoots 38's. There's less noise with the 38 bullets so if you're in a room and shoot an intruder your hearing is less affected and you can listen for a second intruder, etc.

Yes, I've been doing a lot of research lately and getting a lot of advice from fellow workers.

The 357 is a great choice. It's nice to have the versatilty to shoot both 38 and 357. Depending on what you plan on using the gun for, be it home defense or concealed carried, i would look at the Smith & Wesson 340 or 360. They are a little more pricey, but very light and a very reliable gun.

  10. Getting back to Fetch's reason for starting the post, Florida has a law that is very much pro-homeowner.

Florida's New "Stand Your Ground" Law: Why It's More Extreme than Other States' Self-Defense Measures, And How It Got that Way

At present, I do not have a gun. I do see a time in the future where law abiding citizens will not be able to obtain a gun. I am seriously contemplating getting one now, because I may not be able to get it later. I'm open to suggestions on what to buy from those in the know.

As a little bit of advice, currently I own 2 Springfield Armory XD 40s. I have owned a Smith & Wesson 45 and just didn't quite like it as much as the XD. I have also shot on numerous occasions a few different types of glocks. I have found that i like the XD the best out of all of these, I find the multiple saftey mechanisms to be very comforting while carrying. Depending on use, i would recommend the either the 40 or 9 in 3 or 4 inch. It's a great all around gun with many features and for a respectable price. It would be well worth a little research. If you have any questions, let me know.

Thanks for the info, I'll check into getting her registered. Always need more brush beaters in the field.

  12. There is no guarantee that the bolded statement is true. No one knows how they would react when being shot at, even if they have gone through gun safety training. You would need much greater training, similar to law enforcement or the armed forces, to really know how to handle the situation. It is possible that a person making a move for a weapon would have been one of the first people shot. Or someone that has a weapon but is not well versed in handling it could do more damage of their own. Someone with a concealed weapon could have changed the situation but we will never know how. So far I have not heard a good solution to this situation.

As a concealed carrier everday, I can say that I feel that I can at least make an attempt to make a difference in a situation such as this. I'm not saying that it would have prevented this entirely, but with the amount of shooting and training that most concealed carry people do, they would at least make a difference.

  13. I don't believe games end in ties for the playoffs. They will play until someone wins.

My bad, did not know that. I just didn't want to give them credit or ability to actually win it.

  14. My prediction is UND over MSUM in 3. I think they may be able to at least tie it one night. Maybe that's just my wishful thinking because i've got great seats for the game and I want to use them all three nights. :silly:

  15. 100% We Do

The series as I understand it goes something like this:

    1st year- 2 @ Minnesota

    2nd year- 2 @ Minnesota, 2 @ UND

    3rd Year- 2 @ UND

    4th Year- 2 @ Minnesota, 2 @ UND

So, 3 out of 4 years we will have a series up here, this was just the odd-ball year for us.

    Great to hear, thanks.

  16. I understand. And certainly wouldn't want that. BTW, do you have any idea when the schedule would be released?

I have a question, is there any word if we have a Minnesota series up here this year?
