  1. Geez Goon. C'mon. There is alot of hockey to be played. Good thing that you are not

    lacing 'em up every night.

As for the comments of others regarding the atmosphere in the Ralph, why is it that

the team always has to carry the fans? We cheer when they are doing well, but

whine to high heaven when they are not. Luap. You start any cheers last night,

or were you in the jeering section? The players play the game. The fans make the atmosphere.

To blame players for the fans' lethargy is ridiculously unfair. They oughta have their own

board to complain about what worthless and selfish louts their fan base can sometimes be.

Alaska, like every team in this league, is no slouch. Tough from top to bottom.

Like everywhere, it is a different world these days in the world of WCHA hockey.

The Sioux will be fine. It is getting late. With all the knashing of teeth that some folks

do, I sure wish that I was a dentist for the fans on this forum.

As for Lammy, he is playing great. He had every reason to rub his stick at the high criers

from UAA, who stood at center ice jawing long after the game was over. Anyone

who thinks that that was somehow a classless move, or should be grounds for discipline,

needs to get a sense of humor.

Hak absolutely stormed down the tunnel immediately after the final horn. I expect a

win tonight, and I expect a couple of game misconducts for fighting as well.

    Be there. Or be square.

I agree...Phil played a great game. There seems to be a lack of emotion (except for goals) when it comes to the majority of the play. If Phil is the one that needs to make the awesome save and make sure UAA knows about it, and rub it in their face, then kudos to him. With the pace of play at certain times last night, the Sioux could have used an emotional kick start. There may be guys on the bench that can stir up some "go get 'em" mentality in the players, but on the ice, be it a big hit, awesome play that just misses, a great save, or even an icing when we really need a line change; those things need to be sources of inspiration for the Sioux. I think Prpich was excellent at getting guys going with his leadership.

Phil's actions at the end of the game topped off what I was thinking about the whole UAA team, and especially the goalie. If you're going to roam from the crease to play the puck, that's your problem, not the guy who is going for the puck. I am a goalie with 15 years of experience myself, so I wouldn't say goalies are fair game for body checks, but every time the UAA goalie played the puck last night, we went for the puck, not the goalie. I don't think we would stoop to the level of taking out goalies intentionally. All I could think of when the UAA goalie was talking with the ref was "would you like some cheese with that whine?" jeez...the ref can't call a penalty after the play just because you told him to lol. Let your play do the talking, not your unsportsmanlike playing up of apparent 'penalties'. Kudos to Phil, again...he gave me the best laugh I had this week.

  2. Porter has good enough speed that he should at least have a pro career as a checking forward if not better. As for Toews, the sky is the limit for that kid. Given both his natural ability and his vision on the ice he has the potential to be a Sakic type player for Chicago.

Not saying that I want them to leave the Sioux, but the 'Hawks sure do need the help...Savard is a great coach to learn from.

  3. Oh that is ridiculous. You know where the harm is -- you and all of Grand Forks -- well, North Dakota for that matter -- have been told that it DOES HURT. If a child says, stop, that hurts, we all teach them to quit doing the thing that hurts. Since I have been hurt, over and over on this logo stuff, why can't you just quit bullying and give up that name? Also, my children have been hurt over it so that makes you all guilty of child endangerment, so to speak. If you have not heard about an incident directly related to the logo, that is because SOMEONE has covered it up. This is all logical reasoning.

Talking down to Sioux fans on a Sioux fans forum does not help your "logical reasoning" argument. Your analysis for associating children with a logo debate is quite low on the ladder of 'logical arguments.' If you have been hurt, remove yourself from the apparent problem you have with us. If your children have been hurt by it, do the same. You can control, to an extent, what you see and hear every day about "hostile and abusive" nicknames. If I'm misunderstood, it is up to the parent to take care of their children, so are you not somewhat responsible for what they are exposed to? Your libel is quite inappropriate in calling North Dakotans guilty of child endangerment.

If you want to make it a problem, then you can certainly make a stink, like you have, in these forums. Granted, you may be one for insisting 'facts' without basis (covering up incidents...I'm not sure that any one person in ND doesn't know about the Sioux name debate), but if you were in Grand Forks, you'd have to look long and hard to see blatant racism toward the Sioux tribe, name, or logo.

Creating a problem without suggesting a solution besides assuming false facts and saying 'change the name'...doesn't sound like you have any basis for argument. :D

  4. I'm a student, and I'll be sitting outside the student section for tonight's game v. St. Cloud, so I'll be doing all the chants along with the rest of the students on the other side of the rink. Having some more people outside the student section cheering, or clapping along with the band's beat, or originating some "LETS GO SIOUX", or even a "SIOUX YEAH YEAH" would really impress the students, and make the whole place a lot louder than it even is. Rumor is that the Ralph is already the toughest place for opposing teams to play in, why not make it that much harder? Having some coordinated chants on the fascia that surrounds the rink is a very good idea, and I occasionally see the school song up while the band plays it, but the only time that these would be able to be shown would be in an intermission or stoppage in play. My friend is the production manager for the women's games, and the fascia isn't supposed to have animation during the play...we could get some fan towels or signs though as a promotion...we have a Bobcat Powerplay and a Rydell Goal...gotta get the fans some give away so we all have something to do in common.

I am also a goalie that has played about 15 years of hockey, and from experience, no matter how hard you try to block out the "sieve" chants, it is something that is in your head...anything to get the goalie off his game helps a lot. I wish we could have built up a little more momentum against Maine to get into the yeti's, I mean, the 6'7" goalie's head.

    Have an awesome weekend everyone!
