  1. Here's a great story for everyone early on a Monday morning.

Since Mr. HockeyMom and I don't get FSSN, we went up to a local watering hole Saturday night to watch the game. When we got there, the tv wasn't on the channel, so I asked the bartender to turn the channel to the game to which he did. One of the wisest Bison fans ever, saw that they had changed the channel, and looked over at us and yelled, "Division I Wannabes!" To which Mr. HockeyMom started to laugh and replied, "Good one ______!" And we both started to laugh pretty hard.

I guess having 7 Division I titles still makes us wannabes. And to stress a point, there is no -AA after our Division I program.

There will be next year when UND moves up! Remember, -AA is FOR FOOTBALL ONLY! Not basketball or baseball or volleyball or any other sports! They are all 1-A.

PS. That was a pretty stupid remark that guy made. Good luck in the playoffs from a bison fan

  2. A very boring basketball game. I expect both teams to improve throughout the year but man.....it was pathetic. NDSU vs. Texas Tech on friday should be more exciting.....Bobby Knight could put on a show..

  3. Congrats to the UND Sioux! What a huge accomplishment your football team has made! It goes to show you how above and beyond North Dakota football is become, and how both teams can compete with anyone! If UND was looking for respect, they just earned it. Now all that is left is for your mens bball team to beat a ranked division 1 team! :D

    Congrats

  4. Gophers are usually an average team. They just need to be more consistent! This years team I believe will have a bit of a down year. Losing those 2 running backs will hurt, but they still have a decent O line. I definatly do not expect NDSU to win that one. In all reality, it could get ugly

  5. I see your point. The defensive side a most valued asset. My main argument to previous posters is that on of the main reasons why Division2's usually dont beat division 1-aa is overall depth and team speed. Same goes for 1aa vs 1a schools. When you play an upper division, the commentators constantly are saying how much faster the opposing team is. The game is just played at a faster pace. As in awesome football player, i dont even know why I put that in there, it was unrelated and disregard. But yes, I am using speed as in the general term. As for Barry Sanders, he wasnt the fastest football player in the world, but he definatly had undeniable quickness. Jerome Bettis....he is just huge. Getting that amount of weight that fast is hard to stop. For his size, yes he was fast. But for the most part I am using the word speed in general terms.

  6. And by the way, make sure to read to article today in the GFH about UND vs. UNI. I guess I am an "idot". Weston would not be NEARLY as good if he didnt have speed. Yes smarts come with it, but you need to athletic ability to back that up. And no, i didnt have that on my high school tshirt. I just have a degree in exercise science. Tell me one awesome football player that doesnt have speed besides a quarterback. You need it to be successfull

  7. I dont know any team in there right mind would turn down an invitation to a conference (any conference) when they are an independant. It helps in all aspects of athletics such as recruiting and fan base. It would be absolutly foolish if NDSU doesnt accept an invitation into the Mid-con, automatic qualifiers work wonders for athletic attendance

  8. IowaBison is the norm. There are a few bison fans over at bisonville that freak out over the mention of UND and go on a 3 day rant. But I think they are the select few and most are at least a little respectful towards UND, but obviously dont love them. The ranting does get annoying and I stop reading a thread cause it gets too much. But IowaBison is right, not many bison fans know bisonville even exists. On the other hand, rivals are meant to get under eachothers skin, just some people take in more personally than others.
