  1. Anyone know of any bars in GF that will be getting the feed from Omaha? Please advise
  2. I don't think people really understood my thread topic. I think the loss of brian lee would be big and the learning curve for Freshman defenseman (especially) is one that you cannot rush. Obviously a seasoned D-Man is an asset. Maybe I should have hit the "enter" button about 6 times before mentioning that I felt Chay Genoway is ready to play a more regular role. Never did I say I wanted him to leave! I find it funny that people are quick to jump on me and assume I am a fairweather fan. They could not be more wrong. Let's go Sioux!
  3. I was talking to one of the Sioux Defenseman's dad and he said that Brian Lee is very unhappy at UND and that he is very close to signing an NHL contract. I don't believe Brian Lee has the physical presence to be a steady player in the NHL, nor do I believe he is ready to go. In all honesty, I have been disappointed in his performance and anticipated more production from him in his Sophomore year. How big of a loss would it be if he actually left? I think Chay Genoway is more than ready to fill his role. Way to go Duncan!
  4. With the return of Brian Lee and Chorney, you can't forget Chay Genoway. I assume he'll be on line 1 or 2 for even strength and back at the point on the PP. Unfortunately, I don't see Chris Porter on either one of those lines. It's too bad he'll probably stuck on the grind line with Ryland Kaip. Porter shows moments of speed and flash but doesn't have the knack for finishing plays. Sioux sweep this weekend.
  5. From sources at the game last night, it sounds like the Sioux were a few bounces short of putting together one of their better games against WCHA opponents. I am sick and tired of hearing this. You can only lose so many games by bad breaks or fair (at best) goaltending. I would like to see Hak show a little bit of emotion in front of the squad and fire them up. I don't particularly care for coaches who blow a gasket every game but something different needs to be done on the bench. I think we've pretty much exhausted all of our other options!
  6. The Sioux power play went 0-5 last night on the PP against a hot goaltender and without key playmaker Jonathan Toews. Not to mention missing a regular power play defenseman Brian Lee. This happens to the Sioux at a point in the season where we need to capitalize on every opportunity we get, no matter the rink we are playing in. Good to see a solid performance in net from Phil. What's the story with the Gophs rescheduling there Saturday game vs Mankato? They'll have all their World Junior players back for Sundays game. Brutal!
  7. I've been having trouble stealing Internet at my apartment. I'll make my presence felt more in the second half.

  8. Aaron walski will not see a single shot this year. Sorry
  9. maybe i am wrong, but i did not see one person say Jason Herter or Russ Romaniuk. I move to GF when they were in their prime. Being some of my first Sioux sticks and pucks moments, those were some of the greatest for me! A Herter slapper from the slot on the powerplay or a break away snipe by Romaniuk, it's tough to choose between the two. Along the lines of most dislike players: how about Aaron Schneekloth! He got absolutely undressed by BC in a national championship game. My friends all call him PYLON so I know I am not alone in saying that he is definitely on a few peoples sh*t list.
  10. Agreed, he usually works himself into the right position, but there is a lot more to it than that. Playing physical and outworking the other teams forwards in front of our net is crucial. Parise is going to stop the first shot and often times the second, but any goalie is going to need all the help they can get clearing bodies out of the way so they can see those first shots. Without Smaaby, we need the younger guys to step up and fill his shoes. This means you too Joe Finley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I agree with getting shots on net. I would much rather have any one of our D just concentrating on getting shots to the net on the PP and full strength. It is much better now than back in the day of David Lundbohm blasting pucks into opponents shin pads! That may have worked in practice against Andy Kollar, but not against our stellar tenders now. Brian Lee did have plenty of opportunities to unleash a slapshot though. He'll figure it out eventually.
  12. I am definitely satisfied with Brian Lee's first season at UND in terms of his offensive skills and ability to create plays. Obviously there is room to improve but all in all I am happy with that. On the flipside, the defensive side of the puck looked shaky all season long. In my oppinion, the defensive side of the game is more difficult to learn and he needed to make a big adjustment making the jump from high school to the WCHA. For that, I'll give him alot of credit but the learning curve should not take his entire freshman season and then some... He is 6 ' 3" and knocked few people down and had plenty of difficulty knocking people off the puck. Chorney and Jones adapted quickly and made their physical presence felt at 3 and 5 inches shorter respectively. Was it all heart? They seemed more intense and hardworking during the games no matter the opponent. Maybe that is why Chorney ended up with multiple unsportsmanlike conduct penalties? I just hope Brian Lee can keep up his offensive prowess, work out A LOT in the off season, play with a chip on his shoulder, and finally take a slapshot in a game? I like shots on net but just give me one slapshot, please! Let's Go Sioux The Jake

    Hobey Oshie?

I hope Oshie sticks it out a couple more years. He can really up his stock with a couple more seasons like 05-06.
