  1. I, for one, am quite disappointed that I won't get to enjoy the Sioux (and their fans) in Worcester. Maybe in 2 years. Conversely, bad karma for the Gophers... they get stuck in a regional with Air Force, hosted by Holy Cross.
  2. When it comes to sports, there's nothing I hate more than "leave the past in the past". Teams should celebrate their accomplishments for generations onward - legacies are what make sports great. If you truly believe that the past isn't worth talking about, then UND's 7 NCAA title banners should be removed from the rafters and never mentioned again, along with any other awards and honors that Sioux players have earned over the years. If you honestly believe this is true, you have done a great disservice to the school, its fans, and sports as a whole.
  3. P.S. - For those of you who have the interest (I know for a fact there's at least a few), I've added in my signature a direct link to the audio highlights from HC's Women's Basketball League Championship. Thanks to the IMs/texts from Sioux fans who followed the basketball season and offered their Congratulations!!!!
  4. Glad to hear the sounds & stylings of WCHC still permeate the Northern Plains on a regular basis !
  5. Well put, Craig. I wonder if us Crusaders are also evil by association? I guess our fanship just isn't worth it to some. And I totally agree, thank goodness that immaturity is in the extreme minority.
  6. As much as I was cheering for AFA (Atlantic Hockey pride), this game does go to show how remarkable it was that Holy Cross won last year. Yes, two 4-seeds won this year, but they were both at-large teams with steady Top-20 rankings. Taking the CHA or AHA at-large berth and winning a tournament game remains a tall task. Kudos to AFA for a job well done. GO SIOUX!
  7. I came onto this board today for the first time in about a month in order to follow the comments about the Air Force vs Goophers (sp intentional) game, and imagine my surprise to see the HC Radio Highlights thread at the top of the active list again. After reading the comments, here's my take... Thanks to the HC-MN and HC-UND games last year, I have made great friends in Grand Forks and around the state - most of whom I will never meet but whom I foresee talking to for many years. I wasn't even on the trip to the Ralph (I was in the studio back in Worcester hosting pregame/postgame and mixing that now-famous highlight clip) but am eternally grateful for the hospitality of Sioux fans. The events of the weekend and the weeks that followed are forever etched into my memory, and as far as hockey goes, I consider myself a Sioux fan for life - second only to Holy Cross. I owe my current job with the Worcester Sharks (AHL) hockey team to the enthusiasm of Sioux fans who used their connections to spread the highlight clip nationwide, exposure which led to multiple interviews and a fantastic job for me. It's the people, and the relationships amongst them, that have inspired the mutual continued interest between the Crusader and Sioux fan bases. Anyone who finds fault in this relationship has been jaded by the worst traits of athletic competition, and should probably seriously evaluate their self-proclaimed status as a "fan". Go Sioux, Go HC, and Go Air Force!
  8. If you've got the free time to browse SiouxSports, hopefully you also have time to vote Holy Cross forward James Sixsmith into the Skills Competition at the 2007 Frozen Four. http://www.ncaasports.com/icehockey/mens/fanpolls By the way, last month Sixsmith became the all-time leading scorer in HC Hockey history. Thanks for your support Chris Del Vecchio Former Director of Programming WCHC-FM P.S. - I now do pregame and intermission reports for the AHL Worcester Sharks, and give the Sioux as much positive airtime as possible. Especially when they beat the Gophers on back-to-back nights!
  9. If anyone needs help with the downloading, recording or burning of the files, e-mail WCHC's engineer - Christian Santillo crsant06@holycross.edu - and he can help you out. I'm comparatively useless on the technical stuff. Chris Del Vecchio HC Class of 2006 cldelv06@holycross.edu
  10. To give everyone fair warning... WCHC has been asked to remove the full game audio files of HC vs Minnesota and HC vs North Dakota from our website for server capacity reasons. We hope to repost at least parts (if not all) of both games at a far lower quality, however if you were planning to record/download either game to keep for yourself, I would suggest you do so very soon. Enjoy your HC game-worns and thanks again for all your support. - Chris Chris Del Vecchio HC Class of 2006 cldelv06@holycross.edu -------------------- WCHC-FM / Worcester MA / College of the Holy Cross LISTEN LIVE: http://college.holycross.edu/wchc/live/index.htm HOCKEY HIGHLIGHTS: http://college.holycross.edu/wchc/hockey.htm
  11. A few notes, even though I'm quite sure nobody will get them until the game (and subsequent celebration) is over... The full game audio from Holy Cross vs North Dakota is now posted at http://college.holycross.edu/wchc/hockey.htm To pacify any concerns, Holy Cross fans will not be cheering for BC today - they're a pure rival of HC when it comes to sports. Over the past two weeks, North Dakota has solidified its position as HC fans' #2 team - we're behind you all the way! In case it hasn't been mentioned elsewhere on this board, Tyler McGregor earned his first professional point by way of a 2nd period assist for the Cleveland Barons last night. GO SIOUX beat BC!!! Chris Del Vecchio HC Class of 2006 Director of Programming WCHC-FM
  12. OK... we will be able to get Dan Patrick from the archive online after it goes up later today/tomorrow. If anyone can get a hold of the KFAN clip, I'd be eternally grateful - I've tried to e-mail a few of the outlets that have played it directly, but haven't received a single response, so if anyone knows someone who knows someone, etc.... Thanks so much again to all the Sioux fans for sending our clip all over the country. We're still in awe of the support you've shown us, and on behalf of our considerably smaller fan base we hope to do the same for you in the future. Chris Del Vecchio '06 Director of Programming WCHC-FM
  13. PLEASE say someone was able to record the clip as discussed on KFAN or The Dan Patrick Show!!!! Good or bad, we'd love to hear what others are saying. Thanks so much Chris Del Vecchio '06 Director of Programming WCHC-FM P.S. - In case there was any doubt, all of Holy Cross is cheering for the Sioux against BC on Thursday.
  14. The WCHC website now includes a collection of the feedback we have received via e-mail from hockey fans across the globe - the majority of them Sioux fans - commenting on both the Holy Cross hockey team and the WCHC broadcast/highlight clip. Again, we're grateful for all the responses and your support of HC hockey. If you'd like to read what others have said, go to http://college.holycross.edu/wchc/hockey.htm and click on the "FEEDBACK" links. By request, we're working on possibly adding the full game audio from the HC vs UND game as well as the extended call of the GWG vs Minnesota without any editing or music in the background. Chris Del Vecchio '06 Director of Programming WCHC-FM P.S. - I think it's awesome that Coach Pearl was able to work something out with you for the game-worn jerseys. I live at Holy Cross and I can't even get one (not that I could really afford one anyway).
  15. Thanks again for continuing to spread this around. If anyone gets any replies from media outlets, could you please forward them along to me? WCHC would love to get copies of the clip and/or discussion of it being played on other stations. I was told via e-mail from a Sioux fan that the sports talk station 1440 AM played the clip this morning. If anyone has a recording (or personal connection to the Grand Forks media) of that or the other airplay mentioned above, please let me know! I also have an e-mail in to Tim Hennesey to see if he can help track down any copies. Chris Del Vecchio HC Class of 2006 Director of Programming WCHC-FM wchc@holycross.edu cldelv06@holycross.edu
