This isn't a matter of judging Blais or Lucia's success. Some gopher fans made accusations about the UND program and similar things are now happening with Lucia. Sure, it may be polarizing but this happens to be a rivalry. I don't see why taking a shot at UND's detractors is out of line (I know at least one lurks here regularly). I didn't go over to GPL and make a fuss about it, so I don't think it's out of line.

It's good to see Sedevie even be back on the ice after his nasty injury. I know people thought Blais was heartless at the time, but even Sedevie says that had he not played hockey again Blais would have "taken care of him".

Depending on early departures, the Sioux may not have a lot of spots to fill next year. I would like to see some good names on the list who can do either '06 or '07 depending on departures, however. They've done a very good job, so I'm not too worried.

Is this Lucia's discipline for the underage drinking thing? DAR, in past years certain gopher fans have made huge issues about the "revolving door" in the Sioux program under Blais. They used various examples, most that were very legit if one reviewed the circumstances, to criticize Blais and the UND program for cutting players unfairly and dealing with players in an unethical manner. Frankly, to me it was pretty clear that at least a couple of them wanted to use a public forum to spread disinformation and hurt UND's image in some small way. It seems of late that Lucia is the one with the "revolving door". Now that the shoe is on the other foot, I don't mind seeing this stuff brought up and I rather enjoy the sounds of silence.

Really breaking down the racial barriers, aren't you.

Hey, he's missing the post!

I love Hakstol's frank comments.

Way to go Colby Genoway! Gives one an idea of what he might have been had he not come to the Sioux prior to sprouting facial hair.

He can't come up with a good reason they were given to him? Well......we won't have any fun with this.

Exactly why I used the word. I agree.

MN fans make fun of our 25 yr old Canadians, but now they start to see the wisdom.....

This defense isn't made up to be a heavy hitting defense. Doesn't mean they can't be aggressive and physical, but they'll never look like last year's defense and we need to be careful what we ask for. And not forget that in some past years we (at least I) often felt we really lacked the offensive punch from the blueline.

INCONCEIVABLE!

Am I the only one who thinks that the bar owner discounting player's tabs at times, and the allegations that players comp'ed the owner game tickets as being a little more meaty than just "underage drinking"?

Agreed all the way through.

My buddy noticed in the 3rd period on Saturday we hadn't seen Finley for quite a long time. Maybe that was because he was injured...... Now that you mention it, I remember a play where the gophers brought the puck over the blue line and took a slapshot. I thought it was either Smaby or Lee because he looked pretty tall, and completely forgot about Finley. Anyway, it looked like the Sioux D put his hand down to block the shot, and the shot nailed his hand. Or at least I thought it was his hand at the time. The Sioux player immediately showed that his hand/arm was hurt bad and skated straight off the ice and I think Woog or Frank mentioned he ran straight down the tunnel. Since my mind was thinking Smaby or Lee, later when they got back on the ice I forgot about this incident, assuming it wasn't as serious as it looked. But I'd be willing to bet this was Finley, and that he took the puck in the arm.

Recruit on camera following an underage gopher player into the bar being waved past the bouncer, no need to show ID. Yep, factual. Eyewitness of second recruit who entered. Eyewitness of which recruits did and did not drink. Former bartender who talked on camera how she refused to serve underage players but the bar owner served them anyway. Showed copies of gopher ticket lists (reportedly only gopher players/coaches have access to reserve tickets for friends/family on this list) with the name of the bar owner on it almost a half-dozen times last year. So someone from the program was feeding this guy tickets. Who, and why? It may not be relevant to Sioux hockey, yet it is interesting news to hockey fans.

Good to hear on the radio this morning that it appears Blake will be just fine. Cudos to Foster for sticking with him. I like to see that from players.

That's a bummer about Finley. He could use the ice time over the next few weeks to help get ready for the second half of the WCHA schedule.

In the "takes one to know one" category, I think I can safely say that the problem with Slap Shot isn't just his post this time, it's past history. Sometimes Slap Shot says stuff that's just fine even if I don't agree with it. Sometimes he can be an arse. However, that makes one more sensitive to anything he posts. It also didn't help that he showed up while the blood was still flowing to tell us to lighten up. I'll say this, I've learned more and more over the years to hold my tongue when I am in someone else's "house". And when bringing up an issue, to use a softer approach than I would here on SS, or a public board like USCHO. I think that was the problem.

Good stuff.

Rather than blame the nickname for causing an environment that is hostile and abusive, let's rally around it and use it as a tool to confront and and change racist and stereotypical behavior by ignorant people. Making it go away only would make the ignorant behavior by individuals sit latent and silent until another issue brings it forth. Why treat the symptom when we should treat the cause?

um, I find this hard to believe.

I rarely want to see someone's posts removed, but this is the kind of crap that deserves it.
