  1. My prediction it will look like 12,000 people are there but they will announce the attendance at 10,000 :)

Always seems to be full and then the announced attendance is lower than expected.

10,000 or 12,000; doesn't matter as long as we rock the roof right off.

  2. The east wall of the multi-purpose gym at Hyslop. I hit it with a javelin ball about halfway up......I wasn't supposed to throw it that far I guess it got away from me......Later in the week one of my teammates hit one of the windows on the south wall that line the pool. She got in more trouble than I did. *snickers*

Sorry, it's been a while since I've been there. But if I ever notice it, I'll be sure to notify the proper authorities. WANTED: HockeyMom on charges Vandalism :)

  3. Did you see the dent I put in the east wall about half way up? *wonders if it's still there*

You may need to be more specific... give me details and I will investigate :)

  4. Indeed, I saw the final score...Lennon 10 / UNO 7. But, we are bound to have tough games ahead and I think Lennon will need to conserve some of his powers. I am not suggesting that Lennon and the AD share 50/50 only that the AD step in for a series or two. The blocked field goal was amazing...I didn't know he could jump that high! :)

Oh he can jump that high. I've seen him play noon ball up at the hyslop. He is a 2-sport athlete!!

  5. I think it is going to be a close game UND 3 and UNO 2, I will be reporting at the game.

This is Pat Sweeny signing off.

That's a crazy prediction. I dare you to make that prediction during the pre-game... please reference it through out the game. Thanks :)

  6. I think 2001 turned out fairly well...despite the UNO loss.

My point being; UNO has put a damper on our party in the past. I'm just "discussing" on this "discussion board" the possibilities of a similar outcome as 2001... it is right now looking ironically similar.

I have the feeling this is going to be a great game from beginning to end. Different from other punishments the Sioux have put on teams this season. I'm excited ;) !!!

FARGO RESIDENTS: Those of you who are unable to make it up for the game, this will be played on Cable One's Sioux Sports Channel. #44 I believe.

Although I think the trip is going to be worth it... the Alerus will be rockin!!

  7. No matter what team shows up this is a big game. UNO can always surprise us (I hate to bring up 2001 season :) ). I would like to assume that the NCC will be locked up with a win on Saturday.

  8. Took Sioux games only out of composite schedule and made the following for those looking for the Sioux on TV.

    Sioux TV Schedule

I'm not sure on the complete CSTV or ESPNU schedules, expecially ESPNU. If anyone knows of additions or changes, pm me. thanx

I just spoke with Cable One in Fargo to see what games will be available this year. Channel 44 is the Sioux Sports channel, this is also the home shopping network when games are not on. This channel will be televising every game on the above list except for the away games (NH, Duluth-feb, Anchorage, Denver-feb). This channel will also be televising the Nebraska Ohmaha football game on the 29th.

  9. I respect the opinions that others have put forth so far on this issue, it is obvious that age differences are causing the division between city officials and students.

My first springfest was in 2002, the year of the riot, i will admit it was absolutely outa control, and people could have easily gotten hurt. In the subsequent 3 springfests, the increased police enforcement and planning have IMO made it a controlled chaos that isnt out of hand.

Some of you wish to change it back to the old way, i just dont think that is even close to a reality.  It is the sad truth that students and young adults in general want to have alcohol involved with most social functions they take part in.  You may say, well my son/daughter doesnt need alcohol to have fun at college, i may guess that your son/daughter isnt telling you everything they do!

I think the students have done a great job of controlling themselves since 2002, and its a testament to there maturity, they realized that complete gluttony wasnt going to be tolerated and they gave a little.  I would hope the city could realize this and grant the students the same amount of respect i feel they have earned.

You may not think drinking is necessary for a college good time, it may be wisdom, and i respect that.  But, wisdom is most easily learned through experience, and i am sure glad i was able to experience my four springfests!!

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Wow, that was pretty deep for a thread on Springfest. Let's face it... students do want the opportunity to drink and have a good time. Springfest is perfect since we all have cabin fever living indoors through the subzero weather in GF. The argument at hand is whether or not they can handle themselves in the proper manor. I don't think they can stop the underage drinking or drinking altogether. The police do need to be present to prevent the craziness from 2002 (burning couches, fighting, etc...).

Springfest is a UND tradition. Let's keep it that way. I'm no longer young enough to make it to that annual event, but I will never forget the great memories.

  10. Though there is nothing wrong with people kicking back and having a good time, I find it sadly amusing that, in order for people to get together and "kick back and have a good time" massive amounts of alcohol must be consumed.

If that wasn't the case, then why can't you have Springfest every weekend? There's nothing stoping the student populace from gathering in a location and just hanging out together without alcohol. But, alas, that doesn't provide the "good time" part of it.

I liked Springfest before its name changed to Drunkfest. There's more to life then what's found in a bottle.

I think you are forgetting that college students are "young adults". Sure there are a few that don't act like it from time to time. I just hate to see another UND tradition destroyed. My two favorite events of the year when I was in college was Springfest and UND/ndsu game.

  11. Perhaps because that's the year I first attended.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I started in 1996 and SpringFest was around long before I got there. They did try to make changes: campus involvment, change location, and bigger entertainment. All failed in comparison to just the college kids kicking back and having a good time!!!

  12. Does anyone know how the Passing Efficiency Rating is computed in college football? I'm looking at the UND press release and it states that Belmore has a rating of 184.3. Beschorner from USD has a 267.9 rating. Does that make sense? I think that the NFL rating cannot exceed 200.

  13. I didn't see an "official" thread started for this game yet (USD game thread is a little pre-mature  ). I actually wanted to see if anyone had the link for the press release on this game? Thanks

  14. Does anyone know where I can read Potts' statement? Or maybe it hasn't been officially released yet.

I like this thread as it has information on what direction UND is moving toward to start the legal battle. It's much better than "beating a dead horse" on what is right or wrong. Please keep updating us on the proceedings...

    Sioux yeah yeah!!!!!

  15. I also live in Fargo and was able to attend the Weber State game the other night. Though the bison are strong this year; this Weber State team did not give enough of a fight to gauge how good the bison really are. Weber State is VERY weak on both sides of the ball. If this is what all Big Sky teams look like... the NCC would put them to shame regardless the division. No matter how many games I attend in the Fargodome deep down inside I'm still thinking the same thing ... (see member name) :D

  16. As hard as it is to say this, the Fargodome would be more realistic. More seats = more fans = more tickets = more revenue. No matter how much we look at the situation, both administrations are looking at this game as a money maker. It is the only game of the year that you can guarantee a sell out... on either schedule. With Fargo having the ~7,000 (approx.) seat advantage... it's a no brainer.
