I always hit the Cay when I come to town. The new owners did spruce it up a bit... painted the walls, took down the bra's, etc... but the food is still good. They use to serve crawdad's by the pound but I don't know if they do anymore. Mmmmmm, I might have to make a trip up this weekend... too bad there isn't any hockey or football in town!!

In today's Canadian Football League draft, Donovan Alexander was selected in the third round by the Montreal Alouettes.
I guess I'm confused how the CFL works. I hope Donovan is playing his senior year with the Sioux. Montreal must have his rights out of college. What if other offers come up outside the CFL?

I was hoping if Lee didn't play up to expectations he would maybe stick around another year and develop a little more. I suppose he would get that development in the AHL too. I've heard he is very arrogant, which might be why people don't like him... not sure if that's true or not. It would be a bummer to see him go.

I have gone to the OB sports bar and you can get a speaker tower there to listen to the game.
I think they also have those individual speaker towers at Hooligans too. They are nice, tune in your tv and crank it. Also, everything will be in high def.... I can only assume the game will be in high-def... can someone confirm that?

Each year during tax season Coach Hakstol sends in blank tax forms to the IRS along with a picture of himself with his arms crossed and a fierce look on his face. Coach Hakstol has never had to pay taxes, ever.

unless the goofers are involved, plan on the games being tape delayed
If you have satellite, Altitude will be carrying the games live
Are you sure on that-- Altitude is carrying live games?

Ive been to a few - but last time was a couple yrs ago & we used to stay across the street at the Holiday Inn (I didn't like the rooms but sure was convenient - but not near the best bars/food etc.)
Anyone ever bought tickets from the scalpers out front ?
Are they real expensive ?
Hard to get 4 together ?
I bet at this late date they have better seats (lower bowl) than thru normal sources ?
Any suggestions on best place to stay (that still has rooms) Nearest the Excel or within reasonable taxi ride ?
Rooms--- It will be nearly impossible to find hotel rooms in downtown St. Paul right now. Remember, it is St. Patty's day on Saturday. St. Paul is one of the best places in the nation for that party... combined with with the best hockey in the nation... it's going to be frickin' CRAZY down there. The only hope you might have is a few teams/fans may have hotel rooms reserved through this weekend to see what happens in the first round. I would call around Saturday night through Sunday to see if any rooms open up.
Tickets--- We bought Championship game tickets a couple of days ago... 5 together (upperdeck)... I would get those right away... if you still can. If UofM makes it... be prepared for standing room only and scalping prices will be high. If UofM is out of it... it should be pretty easy to find tickets... and prices should be reasonable.

Sorry JFR, but those are some really ugly jerseys.
I agree, those are ugly.
I have to say the best hockey jerseys out there are the old blackhawks style. I wish UND would release some "throwbacks" like those. That would probably only cause more issues.
-
I also could use 4 tickets as well. I plan to attend the game with a Leprechan, a Unicorn and Jerry Garcia. Thanks in advance for the tickets. ... sorry for the jokes but I think you have a better chance of winning the Powerball than getting tix to that game. However, if you do win the Powerball first... I would only assume that would increase your chances slightly.

I think we are talking about goal line defense, as opposed to big-play defense. When it's first and goal from the 5, the Sioux defense has been tough this year.
My point exactly!!!
-
Maybe I'm crazy, but I would've gone for 2 after the last TD. Nothing to lose.
No way, force the Mav's to go for 2 at some point... our D is strong enough to stop them in goalline defense!

How long until game time?
-
simple answer.....yes
I agree with CRR's deep and perplexing insight to this topic. However, if I can expand a little bit more.... It looks like GVS beat up on Northwood 45-7 in October up in Grand Valley. And USD snuck by Northwood by 3pts in OT.

We attempt to be fairly civil on this board. Why don't you change your name!
Thanks!
Sorry, the only two teams I cheer for each week is the Sioux and whoever is playing the bison, therefore I feel my name is very fitting. I'm sorry I couldn't come up with an original username like yours.

Why would you complain about this? Who cares when the games are? They are televising the games on a national network, that is a good thing.
College football on Sunday?!?!?? Does that make sense to you? Am I completely by myself on this? It's just not right.
-
That is messed up. I don't recall that happening before... and I'm pretty sure that ESPN has always had the rights to D1-AA playoffs and the Heisman presentation. That really puts a crunch time between the semifinal game and the championship game. Not to mention the NFL games on Sunday night that will be in "flex schedule".
-
I'm pretty sure that is correct. ESPNU and I think ESPN2 are broadcasting both of the semifinal games this year.
So they are playing both games on Sunday? That makes absolutely no sense.
-
Did anyone see the playoff bracket? Why is the semifinal game on a Sunday... December 10th? I can only assume that this is a mistake. If that is the case... how do we expect the NCAA to understand the playoff rankings/pairings if they can't even get the bracket dates correct?

Last year was last year and yes they beat us 51-6...but again that was last by year and any thing can happen..just look UwL beat sdsu 17-3 yesterday.. and all i am sayin it will be a good game thats all also wsu is a better team this year than last year so dont count out wsu just yet on the UND game...cuz if u over look team u can lose to them no matter who the team is...I feel the UND vs will be close game....
Looks to me like Winona should start working on improving their academics rather than their football team. I can't understand a thing that this guy is trying to say. I got three words for that--- "Hooked On Phonics"

Along with what Sioux 5 asked...... I think that I would get WDAZ as part of my "local channels" on Direct TV. How many games does WDAZ pick up each year?
Thanks for all of the info...
-
I'm considering getting Direct TV in Fargo, ND. Does anyone have an idea of how many Sioux games I might be able to get this season? I'm guessing not a lot, but I was hoping there might be some negotiations to get more games on dish or cable. Thanks
-
Right.
As I see it, here are the options in this area:
Milwaukee
Grand Rapids, MI
Green Bay
Chicago (United Center)
(laugh at this one) Fargo (FargoDome)
Wherever the Iowa Stars (AHL) play
Detroit
I'm not laughing because I live in Fargo. I'd be down with that. Plus there is enough UND alum that live here that it would feel almost like home... We would just have to burn all of the ndsu crap that hangs in that place.

Hopefully at the game!
Glad to hear the Sioux are doing well so far.
I'm watching it on TV in Fargo. I'll be up for the Denver game tonight!!
Dressler is God!
Sioux on TV next week against UW?

It said in the Forum today that the game is on FSSN... 44 on CableOne. Is that accurate? According to fightingsioux.com FSSN does not have the game. Can anyone clear this up? Thanks
