  1. Thanks thats a great outlook, it should be a good first test. I look for the men to be better and this should be a good measuring stick.

Are we at full strength, I hadn't heard that anyone is not.

Have you looked are there any double headers this year with the women.

  2. Looks as if the Lamar Coach doesn't think the Sioux women will be too much to worry about, he already has himself playing Iowa State at the Cyclone Challenge.

"Our non-conference schedule is really going to prepare us for conference play," Tidwell said. "The four games against Big 12 opponents and starting a series with Louisiana-Monroe is important because these are good games to get us ready for Southland play."

They only have 3 other Big 12 teams scheduled so he is assuming they will play Iowa State. I hope our women can make him learn how his foot may taste.

  3. My thoughts - if you can afford to buy season tickets, you should do so! The Athletic Department needs the money and the teams deserve your support. It isn't their fault that scheduling was so difficult this year.

The home schedule isn't great there are no doubts about it, but overall the women have a very good schedule, and many of the road games hopefully will have return dates. $100 is still a great deal for the entertainment and great sport.

I believe official practice starts today !

  4. Just curious, but is this speculation or is it more or less a done deal, i.e. Guinn's position change?

I would believe this is speculation, and I'm not to sure about Bagaason, she hasn't played a game in almost 2 years, let's let her get her feet wet before we put too much back on her. Last years Freshman also came on nicely down the strech and I would expect to see more time from them, they could very well be in the mix. Corey Lof could be another 4 where the team is short players.

I think there will be alot of trial and error and tinkering with the line up this year, compared to last year when the same five started every game. The lineup may change depending on who we are playing and what the game plan is. Roebuck on Sioux Extra mentioned they may be playing more zone which we saw some of last year.

  5. Does it seem like Bergen fell out of favor with the coaching staff, or seemed to regress somewhat last season. She was much more of an impact player her freshman year than last year.

I don't know that Jossy fell out of favor, but proved that she is a great spark off the bench, there were times that her energy off the bench seem to really lift the team. There are not alot of players that can do that and it's a big plus.

If Kimbrough and Ledger get in foul trouble ( which Ledger seems to pick up fouls fast ) we have no bigs left to go to. Against our schedule of D1 teams this could prove to be a problem.

  6. That looks like stuff that should go out to every recruit, especially those that have not been to the Alerus.

The Coaches couldn't make up stuff that good and it came from an opposing coach, it doesn't get any better than that.

  7. There have been a few changes to the Women's schedule on Fighting Sioux.com. A couple of nice additions with games at Northwestern of the Big 10 in Evanston and Ball State from the MAC in Muncie, that was 11-5 in their league last year. Great first year schedule !

  8. The curse of Buning.

Thank the Almighty that this was one of the few Coaches that Buning hired.

I think that this is extremly selfish of this Coach to leave her team just a few weeks before the season starts. If her heart wasn't in it as evident by the schedule she put together she should have left months ago, so that new blood could have been brought in and put their own summer program together and maybe even beefed up the schedule. She should pay a price for this if she ever thinks about getting back into coaching.

  9. You said: You are obviously implying that UND is trying to sell the GWC as a real conference. But the reality is that UND is doing no such thing. The Herald article specifically states that UND eventually wants to get into the Summit. If UND was trying to sell the GWC as the best thing ever, then why would it state it eventually wants to get in the Summit? Nobody is hyping this thing as the best thing ever.

When you say "face it - the GWC is only a scheduling alliance nothing more" it implies I think it is something more than that. I've already called it a "glorified scheduling alliance." UND fans on this board aren't pretending this is anything more than a short-term scheduling alliance that has a few other benefits like conference championships. In fact, NDSU fans seem to be the only people complaining about anything...and I honestly can't figure out why. This doesn't affect NDSU at all.

    Ditto that !

  10. Just who do you think will be leaving the MVFC to make room for them? Another one of your wet dreams.

You must be the one dreaming, there is no magic number for a conference, why would anyone have to leave to make room for 2 quality teams ! Only someone with a majior chip on their shoulder would be goofy enough to believe that. Check out conference numbers across the country any number can be worked out in a multitude of ways. That maybe difficult for someone to imagine that is living in a dream world however.

  11. I think you are asking for alot, the team struggled last year with that schedule and you want a full D1 schedule things would get ugly very quickly, if they can step up their play it will be easier to schedule more mid major programs. They don't want just a team to play in most cases they want to be challenged at least some. That's the difference between volleyball and women's basketball, BB will be able to compete right now.

  12. I'm not trying to take anything away from the recent women's program recruits--I just think there's been a pretty noticeable lack of impact players brought into the program since the recruiting class that included Kimbrough and Bagaason. I think Privatsky has a chance to fit into that mold if she can recover from her injury, and Youngblut certainly showed some signs this past year, but I'm just a little concerned that the recruiting in Minnesota--and pretty much anywhere besides North Dakota--has really fallen off (IMO) over the past three or four years.

Not to turn this into a thread about women's basketball, but I do think this may have something to do with the loss of Coach Brewster, we'll hope the rumors that he may be comming back are true.

Back to the Men's scheduling, I hope they are going to be getting a few more nice D-1 teams on their schedule either at home or away. I would think much like the women at least a couple of holiday trny's.

These things should be close to getting done I would think. The bigger the school the earlier they usually have these done.
