  1. This has got to be one of the funniest threads of all times! Great pics!!!

Part of me is happy to see him go if indeed he was causing turmoil amongst the teammates. I would have rather had Irmen back on the roster then Kessel.

Oh well, good luck to him anyways.

  2. Are any Sioux fans headed to the X on Friday, October 6th, for the Golden Goopher/Maine game?

You are going to go to a Gopher game? cough*Gopher envy*cough!:huh: Just kidding!

You'll have to stop by the tailgate lot across from Tom Reids and say hi.

Good things happened the last time the GOphers played Maine at the "X"!

  3. Scheel's is awesome. I picked up a sweet T-shirt with the emblems of all the WCHA teams on it up there in December for the Gophers vs. Sioux series. Have not seen the shirt anywhere down here in the cities....or the ghetto. They have some really nice Sioux Nike apparell there I have to admit.

  4. Wait a second, bucky, I didn't think the Broadmoor was all that important? I guess it's only important if you win your semi-final game at the X. If you lose, you just say that the tournament didn't matter anyways and tank the third-place game, right? Stop straddling the fence and pick a side, would you? You scoff at the Final Five, now you use the lack of a Broadmoor Trophy to rip on Parise? Cmon...you can do better than that!

It's only important if us GOpher fans SAY it's important, haven't you guys learned ANYTHING? ;)

  5. So then Chad Roberg > Phil Kesshole??

Oh settle down! It's the off-season, gotta have some fun, don't we?! ;)

I just thought it was a funny comparison. Actually I did run into Roberg last November in Duluth, and he's doing VERY well for himself!

  6. Apparently some of your fans did get a taste of their own medicine at this years regional.

Oh yeah! I never looked past Holy Cross, when it comes tournament time you can't look past ANYONE. And you could tell after the first five minutes of the game that the GOphers were not quite there. When it went to overtime I was pretty much just waiting for them to put it past Briggs.......and it didn't take long either! It was a tough game to swallow but it happened. But BOY did the beers taste good afterwards, could not walk to the bar fast enough that night!!!!!

  7. I never thought I would see a 13 page thread about a "Golden Gopher" on a Sioux board!;)

I for one hope Kessel leaves, if he's not interested in college hockey anymore I just assume he gets out of here, I would not want to see him bring the team down.

As far as Gopher fans or Siouxfans being arrogant, I think Gopher fans and Sioux fans are pretty similar. Both fan bases are a proud bunch, both are arrogant. I have seen my fare share of bad Sioux fans when I've been up to Grand Forks but also have witnessed plenty of bad Gopher fans in my experiences walking through Mariucci and watching them interact with opposing fans. It's an argument that cannot be won by either side I believe.

  8. If you guys get REALLY desperate for a goalie you could have Frazee, I sure as heck would not mind seeing that little puke leave the team, of course even being a Gopher fan I would not even wish that upon you guys.

Tough loss for the Sioux, I have to say of all the teams the Sioux have to have been hit the hardest by off-season departures. Not sure what kind of talent they have coming in next season but I would think it's going to be a slow start for the Sioux.

Not trying to stir the pot here just giving an opinion but Parise never really did impress me much during the regular season but man did he get on fire during the post-season, when it really mattered too. Wish Briggs could be that way.

  9. Well the way it sounded is Lucia had the idea of the "rival" team idea, but I don't think he actually picked the teams who would be rivals. Honestly I could have seen you guys having UMD as a rival team, you guys usually have some heated games with them, not?

I would have seen SCSU getting Mankato.

Who knows. I think the only reason the Gophers got Wisconsin as their rival is because of the football rivalry more then anything. Would much rather have you guys as a rival so we could roadtrip up to the Forks every year, Grand Forks is turning into one of my favorite roadtrips......not that theres such thing as a bad roadtrip. ;) (except for us on March 24-25, 2006 :) ) ;)

  10. That is the same reaction I think (and hope) that I would have in a similar situation. But you have to admit that not all of your fellow Gopher fans have the same sense of humor. Sioux fans in Holy Cross jerseys and shirts is just a good natured jab at a rival. Plus they are great souvenirs of the first... and maybe last NC$$ Regional tournament held in Grand Forks. It was one of the most memorable nights of hockey played so far at the Ralph. :D

Oh yeah, I'm sure there will be plenty of fans there that will not be very appreciative of it. Of course half the fans at Mariucci will not even know what you guys are doing because they will not even know what the Holy Cross jersey is for, Corpies tend to not even pay attention and the students are too busy comparing who's Abercrombie & Fitch shirt is nicer and if he or she should wear their hair this way or that. :D

As far as memorable nights, I do remember how loud it was in there when Holy Cross got the game winning goal, I have NEVER heard the Ralph as loud as it was that night.....it was CRAZY loud.

  11. You get a bunch of Gopher fans to wear Holy Cross t-shirts to a UND-UMTC hockey game and I will applaud them for having a sense of humor and being able to laugh at themselves.

Exactly. For me it was about 15 minutes of total anger and frustration when the game ended but the next day I got over it. Plus a part of me was kind of happy for Holy Cross, I mean that was a huge victory for them.....I wasn't happy at that moment though but a few days after I realized that. :)

Besides that, I and most people that know me are laughing at me all the time so it really would not be any different. ;)

  12. What Gopher fan would wear a Holy Cross t-shirt?

    Seriously.....

"Hey guys, let's wear Holy Cross t-shirts to the game against the Sioux"

Hello pot, this is kettle. :)

We can dance like this all night so I'll just end it now. I can't wait to see all the Holy Cross jerseys at Mariucci in January. Oh well, something else we can all agree on....is is October yet? ;)

  13. Why is it you all have to refer to Holy Cross as "Bible Thumpers"? They are just another college, that happens to be a Catholic college, that happened to have kicked Minnesota's A$$! And don't worry what type of apparel the Sioux fans choose to buy and wear. I will wait, and look forward to see the day the MN fans wear HC t shirts...like that will ever happen.

When I see the name Holy Cross it just kind of sticks out you know. Yeah, they may have kicked Minnesota's ass but thats what happens when you have god on you're side. :) I'll order a Holy Cross shirt, besides, you can't have too many hockey shirts....even you all have to agree on that. :D

  14. Nobody has even worn their HC jersey to the John, and Gopher fans are already upset.

    Priceless. ;)

Thats the thing, I think it's HILARIOUS that you guys are going to spend that kind of money just to try to get under our skin.

Spending money on a Holy Cross "Bible Thumper" jersey= TOO MUCH.

Wearing them to Mariucci next season to try to get a rise out of Gopher fans= STUPID

A bunch of Gopher fans having Holy Cross t-shirts on at half the price to shove it back in their faces= PRICELESS! :):D
