  1. U2 is arguably one of the top 20 greatest bands of all time and I did not mean to directly compare Skid Row or Warrant to U2. I was trying to make to make the point that these bands came out and played like they would have had there been a full house. When I saw U2 in MSP they played through a driving rain storm. Everyone got soaked but they didn't shorten their set, they didn't walk off stage until the rain quit, they kept on playing. Skid Row and Warrant could have shortened up their sets because of the small crowd size (and Jani Lane's death) but they didn't. They were completely professional and rocked the Betty. So maybe on the some level of being a professional rock band it would be fair to compare these bands to U2. The show must go on and it did for both concerts and it was cool.
  2. The bands were brought in to celebrate KJ108s 25th year of radio in GF, I don't think REA had much to do with bringing them here, they were just the venue. As for quality acts Skid Row and Warrant are great rock bands. In the past three weeks I have seen Night Ranger, Foreigner, Journey, Interpol, and U2 (with 62,000 fans in the rain) and the bands at the Betty last night easily held there own as great rock bands. Even though the crowd was small they played full sets with a great mix of old hits and songs from their new albums. To top it off Warrant performed even though their former lead singer, song writer, and very close friend Jani Lane had died on Thursday. Not many bands would have done that, and most quality acts would have canceled. If you weren't at the BESC last night you missed out on a great rock show and a special tribute to a rock artist we lost on Thursday.

  4. The ultimate "outdoor" hockey event - Ford Field 2010 - Evan Trupp, David Toews, Brad Eidsness and Co. destroy the University of Michigan for #9 (score 6-1) in front of 65,000 fans.
  5. I think I found part of the answer in the NCAA rule book. SECTION 55 d. If, at any time during the course of the game, a referee believes that the playing conditions or the conditions among the players and/or spectators have become unsatisfactory, the referee may stop the game; and the score of the game shall be what it was when the game was stopped. It shall be
  6. Now that I have had some time to cool down (something impossible in Bean town) it seems to me that BC should have had to forfeit the game. I need to go through the NCAA rule book but maybe someone else knows the answer? If the home team can not provide a viable playing surface should they not have to forfeit the game. BC could have cleared the arena to help lower the temp and then played out the 3rd period but they did not. The fog went away very quickly after the crowd had cleared out after the game was called. Another question, who has the power to declare a tie after 2 periods? I think the commissioner of Hockey East was at the game and I know the refs consulted with him. Hak all but said on the radio that he wanted his team to keep playing. I would guess the head referee had the final say but again I think this should have been a BC forfeit, especially since BC knew that the lack of A/C was a serious problem. I don't think we should be penalized because of BCs failure to provide a playable hockey rink. A tie is not a win!!!
  7. Two more goals for Brandon tonight! Great start with his new team. Keep it going.
