  1. i mean non sport as in i don't think basketball is a sport.  I understand that it is a more viewed tv thing than hockey,  but my definition of sports involves contact.  I also understand that hockey is taking a beating nationally with the lockout and that college hockey gets airtime nationally this weekend and next only.  I think it's crap that it's not more widespread,  but how do you teach hillbilly's down south about ice??  you give them a ball(or empty beercan) and bucket and they can relate with basketball.

Wow, it seems with your knowledge you would fit right in with the hillbillys.

Did you play goalie before goalies wore masks???

  2. Saturday @ 1 p.m. on CBS. I think this one game will bring more attention then all the broadcasts of the World Juniors combined. Quite possibly there will only be 1,000 people there, but people are not expecting a huge crowd at a D II championship. It will be interesting to see if they showcase the arena a bit or if they concentrate on the b-ball?

Sure the hockey team has to take a bus across town to practice but they knew that before the season started. They also have to travel to Mass and play in the same arena as B.C. and B.U. What's more troubling??? I don't think the practice problems will effect them, they have enough going on right now and you know what, this is the national tourney. If you can't practice at a nuetral site and still win then you don't deserve to!

  3. WHose damn oversight was that?

Unless this is part of the Elight 8 Mens DI basketball (Duke, UNC, etc play in this), I don't think the ice should be removed if hockey is underway.

They don't remove the ice, they play over the top.

  4. ESPNinsider,  Your kidding right?

Someone may know the answer to this question.  When was the last time a UND or a UM team not represented on either the 1st or 2nd All-WCHA team?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    y-e-s

  5. I don't have a problem with most of the selections, but how does Matt Jones end up on 3rd team behind a player from MTU, the worst team in the league? Jones is the 2nd or 3rd best defenseman in the league behind Skinner and maybe Stuart.

I also have a problem with the goaltender choices, especially Ellsworth over Parise and Lamoureaux. Parise is .913 and 2.25, Lamoreaux .915 and 2.19. Ellsworth is 3.23 and .916. Also, Lamoureaux should be ahead of Nate Lawson who is 3.32 and .916.

I think that Hak should have been coach of the year and the first line should have been all on the 1st team

  6. What this team needed all year was a kick in the a$$ - "go hard or go home" message that they never got.  From pregame warmups to the final horn there was very little '''get after it" mentality.  Until that is instilled it won't matter how many Jerome Beasleys are recruited.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Betcha if they had 5 Jerome Beasleys they would win it all!

  7. What am I, a delivery serivce? And what the heck is extra white taco meat? Sounds gross.

Just do what Master Sgt. Federov tells you and nobody will get hurt. :D;)

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    extra white sauce I meant

If you get stranded on the way to Minny you'll probably find out what white meat is though ;)

  8. Another valid point about the Bball vs hockey popularity debate is that most everyone in the country has picked up a bball and shot it (and realized how difficult it is to slam dunk). What % of the country has strapped on skates and fired a few slapshots? You don't really appreciate the speed and skill required to play hockey until you have actually tried it. For example, jumping out of a helicopter onto the top of a mountain in order to ski where they haven't/can't build a chair lift looks damn easy from my couch.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

By the way, where did this comment come from? I don't remember the debate? Was it in a different thread?

  9. Or the fact that 95% of the country just plain doesn't like hockey! (Not statistically proven) The NHL is really in the hurt bag when/if they come back. They have been averaging less attendance then Arena Football for the last couple of years and now they have a lockout?!? Not sure if changing the ice blue is going to generate a good fan base!
