  1. Anyone out there?

    hockeyMom,

i know a very good massage therapist who has "fixed" many patients that chiropractors couldn't PM me if you are interested and i will give you all of her information

  2. You're little guy hasn't developed that older, saturated with hormones Eau D' Hockey player smell yet. Just wait! That smell is a living being!! It will hurt you if given the chance!

(Man, do I miss little guy hockey!! ;)

i don't know about anyone else, but that game worn "stink" brings back many memories of my playing days. They say that smell is the best trigger for memory...

  3. The 60 minutes that they put on the clock after the game is the amount of time that the people in the suites have to get out of the building. You can also get in about an hour before the game, and you can enter through the hockey offices.....so you don't have to wait in line and go through the gates.

    god forbid :)

  4. As a Gopher fan, I would much rather have Sioux fans wearing HC jerseys at Mariucci next year instead of their Sioux gear. Puprple goes well with mullets and Nascar hats. While reading through this thread and the other HC threads on here, it's hard for me to believe that I'm on a website for one of the most tradition rich and greatest college hockey programs of all time. The inferiority complex that you people have for the University of Minnesota just baffles me.

Look, I know the back to back NCAA titles pissed you all off, and I know you're still pissed about Parise and Bochenski leaving town without a ring... and I know you're all still upset that Vanek won ROTY over God and that Kessel won ROTY over Toews and Oshie. And I know you're a little pissed off about the Sioux managing only a .333 winning % against Minnesota at the new Ralph. But really people, you guys have the Gophers on your minds more than St. Cloud State and Duluth fans combined. It's truly pathetic.

You all need to wake up tomorrow, get over the depressing feeling that living in Grand Forks brings, and get a life. You're the only fanbase of one of the top programs in the country that doesn't act like one.

    HAHAHAHA NASCAR SUCKS!!! :);)

as for the rest of your post, you're an idiot. Grand Forks is a great place to live, grow up, be a part of.

They created new rules in the game because of Parise and how nobody could stop him without mugging him.

Oshie deserved that award and even you aren't that stupid to think otherwise.

Winning percentage doesn't mean s&!t when the Gophers blow an opportunity to make it better/worse by being the number one seed and losing to a 16 seed. (never been done before which makes it that much better for sioux fans)

YOU are the troll over here on OUR website trying to tell US that WE are a bunch of pathetic losers...... :D

back to my original point...NASCAR SUCKS, and YOU are the pathetic loser.

  5. Really? I beg to differ. Tell me then how Russ Parent, Curtis Murphy, Dubie Westcott, Larry Olimb and Mike Crowley were ever able to succeed in the WCHA? Curtis Murphy is one of the best defenseman ever to wear a Sioux uniform, and led them to a national championship in 1997. I watched Russ Parent paired with Murray Baron at UND, and Baron was not even in his class. At the next level, it makes a difference, but not college. College is a skating game, particularly with the Olympic sized ice in many rinks (Minnesota, CC, St. Cloud, AAU, MSUM, UW). Size may be a factor, but it certainly is not indicative of whether a player is capable of playing at a high level in college hockey.

russ parent, different era, different game

larry olimb and mike crowley, different system where banging wasn't a big part of their game

curtis murphy was 5-10, but he was 200 pounds of bowling ball.

the bigger you are in a system like UND's where banging around in the corners is a big part of your game, size matters for many reasons, winning the battles, durability, reach, easier to force forwards to the corner, durability, and durability. (especially in this system)

  6. Brian Bina(Robbie's brother) got picked up by Michigan Tech. i heard this from Robbie's cousin, whom i am very good friends with. there should be more info soon.

i know it sounds like a very polluted circle of conscienceness(if thats what its called) where my cousins friends sisters uncle knows this guy and all that, but i consider him a 100 on the scale.

6 degrees of separation is more like it.

  7. I am originally from Devils Lake and have many Sioux friends from the Spirit Lake Nation. Out of all my friends, none of them have a problem with the name. They feel the problem seems to lie with the new Chairperson of the Tribal Council, Myra Pearson.

I have also gone to many parkboard softball games in Devils Lake (that has many teams playing from Spirit Lake) and you look at what they are wearing...hats with the current UND logo or the old Blackhaw logo on it, or they wear lots of t shirts with the logo on it. It would be great if the Tribal Council would really listen to the rest of the people on the reservation, and not have tunnel vision that doesn't go beyond the meeting room.

that's called an agenda, also known as politics, also known as horse s&!t

  8. let me throw this into the fire:

as far as all four of these players own threads....Zajac close to signing, jpar likely gone, staffor makes the jump, and smaby is gone......Sparky in europe..

has the original poster been wrong yet??

let it play out, stop being pansy's about losing players.

  9. I am not sure what I think about UND doing this. It is kinda like saying, put your money where your mouth is fans. I am impressed by that part! On the other hand, UND makes a ton of money off using the Sioux name and logo with merchandising and ad revenue, etc... In my opinion, UND should be using that money to pay the legal fees because that money only exists because of the Sioux merchandise and corporate advertising UND gets using the Sioux name and logo.

UND may also be trying to determine how much they are willing to spend to keep the name. They do have to be mindful of the fact they may have to change the name and there will be a ton of expenses involved in doing that as well.

Or, maybe I have no clue what I am talking about but decided to provide a different perspective anyway! :D

especially when nobody is buying the merch at first and continues to wear their sioux gear to the events in a slight form of protest to the actual changing of the name. my 0.02

i do think that UND needs to, at a very minimum, take a stab at suing the NCAA for their stupidity and sheer bullying because they think that they can get away with it. It's about time someone stood up to them on this issue and handed them their ass on a platter. Since court is what it's going to take, that's the route they go. don't bow out before all options are exhausted.

  10. Redwing,

Secondly, a short rope for Jordan Parise? Am I hearing this right? So, that automatically makes Jordan a bad goaltender?
you took that out of context, i didn't mean short rope as in one bad game and done, but phil is sitting there itching to get in, and if he does, and plays his ass off, he could become the man. I'm not saying this would happen, but when manny had a bad game or two, roly played the next couple before manny got another shot. I would love to see parise as the #1 with a spot start here and there for whomever is the backup, but we know that's not how it's worked in the recent past until the end of the year.

Let me tell you folks something, translated into the NHL, I think someone like Phil would be demanding a trade because there's NO F-ING WAY short of a total meltdown or a significant injury that Jordan would be named #1 goaltender with the performance he's shown. There are PLENTY of examples to prove this. The only good thing about the Wild the past few years was that they had two quality goaltenders. Roloson could never step in and be a #1 because Fernandez was simply too good. Jordan was the difference at times during the season between winning and losing a game. He's not a show stopper, but NEITHER IS PHIL. For goodness sakes people! The only people who have Jordan on a short leash are you guys! Hakstol has faith in him, the team has faith in him. Those are TWO very important factors. As long as those two are solidly in Jordan's corner, so am I.

I agree 99%. read above for my take on the wild goalies. the one % i disagree is that both goalies have the capabilities of being a show stopper. I think that jordan has all the tools, hell we've seen it for three years. I think the only knock on phil is he's a headcase...and that can be fixed... and the rest of the tools are there for him too. Would you consider Elliot a show stopper? i would, it doesn't mean that a bad game doesn't happen.

Is Phil a bad goaltender? Nope. Does he deserve a shot? Sure. But should it come at the expense of one game where a myriad of factors affected the outcome? Nope. Sorry. Point fingers all you want but Jordan wasn't even the MAIN reason why we lost to BC. I guess some people here do need someone to blame for the loss. It might as well be Jordan, I guess. Should that chance come at the cost of a goaltender who has done nothing but represent UND extremely well the past 3 years? Hell no.
I honestly think that if jordan had the defense in front of him this year that he had in zach's last year, he would have signed already because his numbers would have been THAT much better and we wouldn't be having this argument.

For you scapegoaters out there, you'll just have to cope with that. Or maybe go haunt the UND player whose shot hit the STICK of Schneider and stayed out of the net. Maybe you can blame him instead.

I have never once blamed that game on Parise. I feel that they finally played their age, not their ability, and BC took every advantage given to them. and it was still a close game.

I think that we are in agreement that Jordan should and will be the man if he does in fact stay, I just feel that if Lammy get's any kind of sustained shot at playing time, he could make the most of it. You know as well as i do that college hockey is a "what have you done for me lately?" kind of a game when it comes to the end of the season and playoffs are on the line.

  11. I was just thinking of the players who had left and matt because he was one of my favorite players. Sry if it was taken another way. I didn't mean that bogey boge had to do it, i just thought that it would be nice.

i guess i just feel bad about someone doing something for their own enjoyment, showing people, and then they all start asking for more stuff, that's all. I didn't want boge's to feel the pressure to do it and be a dick if he didn't want to (which i'm sure wouldn't happen, but could) i wasn't trying to bust your balls too hard. :0

  12. That would certainly include some classic open ice hits. He was as good an open ice checker as I have seen play for the Sioux. He would really level some guys if they had their head down.

in all fairness to the guy getting lambasted, sparky could plaster someone with their head down......although they do fly A LOT farther when smaby does it.... :D

  13. bogeyboge50- what about one for smaby? I realize this may not be possible, but if you would be willing to try when you get time that would be awesome.

do you think you could do one for jonsie, and chorney, and maybe sparky too??

cmon guys and girls, let bogey boge (that name kicks ass by the way) do the ones he wants to do and when he wants to do them. I know that they are awesome and he does such a good job, but to have everyone request one of a different player and somewhat expect boges to do it, just not realistic. Let's let boges do them at will and enjoy them when he posts them. :D

  14. Yep, that's talent that has yet to be used to it's fullest potential.

if jordan comes back, he's not going to have toooo long of a rope to hang himself with. even though lammy hasn't showed his full potential, he is going to be given more of an opportunity next year if jordan isn't stellar. That said, I think it's going to push jordan THAT much harder to be the best goalie in the land. His future in hockey depends on it. On the flip side of that, I think that lammy's future in hockey depends greatly on what he can do this upcoming year and his senior year, so it behoooves him to be an absolute rock in the opportunities that he is given.

If jordan leaves, lammy is the man bar none, walski will get some time, but he is still basically a freshman(practice and eligibility aside). if this is the case, then lammy is going to have to step up and show everyone that he can be the man, which, for him, means get his head on straight. In the games he gave up a weak goal, his confidence went out the window and he became more and more frustrated. I hope that he works his ass off to turn that into more determination to stop everything and anything coming his way.

This is going to be a better team next year with the defensemen we have coming back a year bigger, stronger, and experienced, but goaltending is still going to have to step up big and be a factor game in and game out. The offense just lost two of it's best and even though we might not be done losing players, you can't replace that with what we're bringing in, and there is always going to be the possibility of needing to win 2-1 ,1-0, 3-2 games. It should be fun, and definately interesting to see what happens the rest of this off season and how next year unfolds. I know my butt will be in my seat at the ralph cheering on these kids as they hopefully improve on what they accomplished this past year.

  15. I think Parise will be back for next season. I sure hope he can help bring us national championship #8 and in having a good year, get himself drafted into the NHL. What do you think though, will Lamoureux still back him up?

just for the record, he CAN NOT be drafted. But, for his sake, if he gets offered something this offseason, he'd be a fool not to take it. If he's not offered anything from anyone based on what he accomplished last year, he can't afford to have a mediocre season next year, anything short of a repeat of this season with a national championship added and he won't be offered anything. Just the reality of the situation.

  16. Have you looked at our roster lately?! Even with these players gone, we still have a $hit load of talent on this team.

yeah, but that's ALOT of talent to lose early. Two of your best set up guys/goal scorers/leaders, and unarguably the best defenseman on the team this past year. throw sparky into that mix and the very very very mild possibility of toews leaving, that would hurt.

  17. Back on topic: good luck Drew. Thanks for three exciting years in green. You'll have a wonderful NHL career and do promise to bring Lord Stanley's cup to GF for a visit when it's your turn.

    I promise!!

  18. If indeed the worst case scenario is a name change, I like the Fighting Soo

    SOO_213Bt_Neenah_WI_7-1966.jpg

Yeah, but than you have THAT Union all over your ass looking for help with pensions so they can retire at 40 and wealthy rather than 50 and wealthy..

(I shoulda been a railroad worker  )

  19. So did Spirko, and we are still hearing the rumors about him going to Europe to play after the semester is over. Sometimes what players say, and what actually ends up happening, differs.

"on the record" is about as official as me saying that i'm gonna try out for the sioux next year. all it means is that if there have been offers, they aren't good enough and they are working on it, the only thing that will matter is who shows up for captains practice and who hak says makes his squad.

i apologize for this all being one big quote as it is several different peoples posts, but

"respectfully", would you be kind enough to look up those figs for me? wait......here it is....

There are no more $900,000 signing bonuses.

2004 Draft Picks can receive the maximum $688,940 in the first two years of the contract, and $984,200 in the third year under the terms of the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement. In addition to salary, players can receive a signing bonus of $590,520, to be paid in the first two years of the contract, and has the potential to earn the maximum entry-level performance bonuses, totaling $850,000 per year.

does this cap apply to free agency as well? foregive me if this is a dumb question, I could care less about the NHL..

as far as i can tell, it applies to all incoming players. im not sure on the specifics though.

there are different levels for different years of draft picks because they were signed under the old cba, new draft picks 05 on up are all subject to the same terms. as far as free agents go....my understanding is they are subject to free agent minimums based on number of years in the league, years with a team, among other variable, but the high end for these college players being undrafted free agents is lower than those drafted
