You may not be aware, but UND has a highly competitive men's soccer team, and it's coming off its best season in program history!
Last fall they beat Minot State, the regional powerhouse, for the first time in club history, qualified for regionals in Omaha for the first time ever, and were the only school from the ND/SD conference to win a match, knocking off Nebraska in a group that also had Colorado Boulder and Arizona State (both of whom went on to nationals). Most of that roster is back this fall, led by team captain Matt Mokos, but the team will hold open tryouts to fill some spots. UND professor Erick Resek coaches the team, drawing on his background as an assistant coach at both VMI and Salt Lake Community College. US College Club Soccer, a member org of U.S. Soccer, is launching its own national league this year for the first time, with regional leagues feeding a new national championship in Arizona, in November. UND has joined this league in great anticipation and expects to finish top of the Great Plains division.
Tryouts will be held Monday, Aug. 24 and Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 6:30 PM CDT at Memorial Stadium.
