  1. They really missed Demers today. She's the only one in the league who can defend against Brooklyn Meyer...if she can stay out of foul trouble.
  2. Most coaches change things up the second time through their League schedule. There has been no coaching changes here the second time through with declining results. What possible results can they expect?? Don't they think the opposing coaches haven't figured this out? We're being out coached! It's hard to imagine at this rate we win anymore games, which is very sad. The girls do deserve better!
  3. This is so depressing...this team has regressed.
  4. I don't disagree with you at all. USD, SDSU & NDSU are prime examples. Flopping and exaggerated facial expressions seam to still work on refs. One minute a player (B. Meyer last night) is holding her face ready to cry and less than a minute later, laughing. She accomplished her goal! I have absolutely nothing against a coach disputing a call. However, I feel it's the means in which they deliver it, that gets results. Yelling at the refs cross court is disruptive and demeaning to some, not to mention the players themselves. Sometimes a little subtle diplomacy goes a long way. Mal displays a mean attitude all the time and it's not doing her any good. Maybe she should try a little sugar? Just my two cents.
  5. Experienced coaching was on full display last night. In the first half AJ was visibly frustrated, but he never attacked the refs. He kept his always calm composure and used his experience to swing the game. He switched things up in the third and well, the rest is history. I am sick of Mal, game after game, the entire game, attacking the refs. Did she get that from being around Brewster? I wouldn't want to be a ref at one of UND's games if you have to take that verbal abuse every game. Are we seeing vengeful calls now? She needs to step back and start looking at her coaching inadequacies instead of constantly blaming the reffing. There is more talent on this team than we are seeing, these ladies deserve better.
  6. They had Demers defending Draper from behind instead of 3/4 round. It was obviously ineffective and immediately put her in foul trouble. Jory ate that right up and it played right into his hand. Six unanswered early points to that mistake. After the first time Draper beat Demers, they should have switched her defensive stance up. How many times are they going to be out coached? There's continually mismatching and player positioning issues that have resulted in unnecessary fouls and turnovers. Players still allowed to play with blinders and me only attitude resulting in lost scoring opportunities, and again...turnovers. Our assist column reflects that game after game. This team should only have maybe two legit loses, but they need for their coaches to step up and do their jobs...if they're capable.
  7. Mal should have played Ibrahim and Demers together in the 4th. SU had length on us and our bigs had fouls to spare...each one had something to contribute...play them. Ibrahim rebounding, Demers screening and boxing out. Otherwise, the refs helped the Bison win this one.
  8. Demers is a strong bull and is effective against big bodies. Against small frame bigs on opposing teams, and Summit League refs who aren't used to physicality, her size and strength can be a "liability". Ibrahim has had some bad games this season when strength was needed against big bodies.
  9. Great TEAM win! They seem to be playing better as a team and the results showed. There was a good crowd last night and the program needs more of that to be successful. I know winning goes hand in hand with a program's success, but I wish UND/Betty would do more to draw fans in. With a combined ND/EGF population of 68k, it should not be hard to fill the Betty. Atmosphere changes outcomes. It was fun to watch the ND girls, their leadership and work ethic is exciting and contagious. I would hope UND does all it can to recruit talent here in it's home state. I realize that there is always that draw to play for a top school or winning program, but are we doing all we can to sway them? UND is already a top school academically. If only this basketball program could just turn the corner...the program will sell itself.
  10. If only Pemberton could share the darn ball, several times Demers was wide open tonight. Sure she can score, but her assist numbers are always low to none. It would have made the difference tonight, they would have won in regulation.
  11. Good game, great win! Definitely took better care of the ball, than they did Thursday. They needed this win!
  12. Unfortunately, you're right. We were a FAR better team in the beginning. They were playing as a team, now with the exception of Jocie and Walker, it's everyone for themselves. Now they look like 8th graders. What happened? Why don't the coaches see this and make adjustments? They keep playing the same style of game. They have better potential than what we are seeing now.
  13. It's maddening because they're just not improving. What are they working on in practice?
  14. We finally decided to play in the fourth quarter, but it's hard to win when you've allowed yourself to get so far down. All opposing teams need to do is watch tapes of this team and know that they can't handle the full press. Pemberton could have even better games if she wasn't playing for herself. So many times Demers is standing there and capable of receiving a skilled bounce pass, but instead Pemberton drives in, only to turn it over by bouncing the ball off her foot. Why aren't these coaches working on these turnovers??? It's down right embarrassing.
  15. All good points.
  16. I'm not in favor of a mid season change, this team has enough challenges right now. If the assistant coach is good he'll use his influence to make a difference now. If we change coaches, it's after season and we look for a D1 coach...IMHO.
  17. What has happened to this team since Nov 8th? They have gone from playing some fairly decent team ball and being competitive...to this. The first few games they played as a team with a WE attitude, to now it's every lady for themself? As questioned earlier, where are the assists?? We have D1 guards turning the ball over because they dribbled the ball off their foot, traveled, or threw the ball away with a bad/weak pass because they couldn't handle the pressure. What is this coaching staff working on in practice? Maybe they need to go back to the basics of dribbling, passing, ball protection, team play and, for God's sake...mental strength. The talent is there for them to be playing and competing far better than this. They need to believe in themselves! I personally don't like to see our coach being combative with the refs, every game. I'm all about standing up for our players, but there needs to be some tact incorporated also. Technicals don't do anyone any good, especially embarrassing the team.
