  1. Cam was a decent goalie with tons of studs in front of him; lost me for his play, his patting himself on the back instead of the entire team after their St Cloud road sweep last year and thirdly who cares to hear him on Hennessy sharing with us that he supports Donald Trump?  Keep him on the bench....Thome is the man.

  2. You obviouslly didn't read the print under (Forum) which says 'No politics'...

You obviously didn't notice that this thread is still alive and is about politics as most people define it; other than that do you have a point?

  3. Trying to get actual information is getting tougher all the time. These websites were offered on here to educate voters:

    speakupforyourlibrary.com

    or

    http://sayanythingbl.../tag/gflibrary/

Both are terrible sources of information. Bill O'Reilly or Rachel Maddow. All opinion. To get any information, you need to read between the lines. I guess this is why teachers were so disapproving of internet sources.

I would have voted for a 1/4% tax over 10-12 years to pay for a community asset; not a 1% tax making GF higher than any other City in state. I did not pay off my house in 2.5 years and the library likewise will probably last longer than that? It amazes me that the same City leaders proposed this, but maybe they were not for the library either. One of them said the idea to enlarge the leaver site footprint by vacating 12th "couldn't be done". They still have that perceived credibility problem with statements like that. The list is endless of things they do that fall into the undoable category. People did not trust that this tax would in fact sunset, but instead would turn into another source of funds to pay for street reconstruction.

Just do your job, fellows, transparently. This City has proven time and time again it will do what is best for the community. Just do your job.

  4. ha! i've always kind of wondered why any thread gets closed. i understand doing what's possible to deal with people who are posting insulting remarks, whether they be toward another poster or toward a group of people, but closing a thread over that or anything else is strange in my opinion.

i mean, let's be honest, nothing written here really matters. we're just a bunch of people with a lot of opinions. if somebody wants to conjecture that kristo was drunk then so be it. i certainly don't care what that person thinks.

every time a thread is closed i wonder why. usually it's something along the lines of the reasoning behind closing the kristo thread: a few people are saying things that others find unfounded and it leads to a moral debate on whether such things should be said without facts to support those things being said. but i have to ask, who really cares? if somebody posts something you don't like then maybe you'll feel moved to challenge it but if it continues and it is your belief that the original poster is simply making statements that cannot be substantiated by anything we know about the situation, such as was the case with the kristo incident, then why give them anymore than one post's worth of challenge?

i personally think anybody should be able to voice their opinion as long as they're not personally insulting others in an intentional manner. now if you get offended by some fool stating that kristo was drunk when we all know darn well that the individual posting that has no clue what the truth of that night was then perhaps you should simply ignore that person rather than pushing for the thread to be closed.

in the end it seems as long as enough people cry about what somebody else is saying then the thread gets closed. but why? if somebody wants to conjecture that kristo was drunk then that is his / her option. i don't have to agree with that person and i can certainly challenge their assertion by asking for proof. if that person wants to continue with their ignorant posts then that is his / her decision and i'll just ignore that person should i deem his / her posts worthless, as was the case with many of the kristo posters. to close the thread though? i just don't get it.

Excellent analysis; now someone with more posts than you or more green jerseys will probably call you an idiot!

  5. I am golfing, listening to the ocean through the window, and still looking on here to beat people up about our coaching! Not acceptable to dis hak.. not on here, not on a grandforksherald.com blog, apply at www.und.edu for the coaching position (there isn't and won't be one) if anyone negative thinks they are the right know-it-all fit for our "coaching" non-faults against Michigan.

Let's see now; your 1st sentence suggests that your house seconds as a golf cart and your second is that no dissent should be allowed. When you make a bogey, do you write "par" on your card?

    wow

  6. there's no doubt the power play didn't work well in that game. I don't know what the reasons are or if that was coaching or Michigan executing or Sioux players clenching their sphincters too tight. I don't know. I know that the Sioux were all over Michigan in that game but couldn't get the right shot off at the right time.

I'm not going to blame a coach if the only thing that didn't go well was the power play and shots that couldn't find open net. No team has a perfect game plan, and no team executes perfectly. Some do better than others, however, and there is luck involved as well. We know Michigan executed very very well. We know the Sioux executed very well except for their PP. I believe Michigan got luckier than the Sioux.

I'm not going to nitpick the PP and rip the coaches for it. I'm just not. The Sioux played well enough to win this game and they just didn't get the puck in the net. I really think that's what this loss all boils down to.

    Great post! I agree 99.95%

  7. I'm wondering how you "figure out" ahead of time that the Michigan goalie is going to have a 40 save night? And, if the coaching staff had indeed figured that the goalie was planning on pitching a 40 save shutout, how do you coach around that. I guess they could have had some players take some runs at the goalie and get him knocked out of the game....and, they could have told Frattin to aim his shot 1/2 inch further to the right so it wouldn't graze off the tip of the goalies glove.....and they could have instructed Chay to put his shot a few inches higher.....and the big thing would have been if they would have told Dell that Glendening's shot would get deflected out to Dell's left and Winnett would have an open net so he better just forget about the Glendening shot and move over to the left post so he could stop the Winnett shot. Then Dell would have been pitching a shutout also. That one is probably more Karl Goehring's fault for not figuring that out ahead of time.

I guess those are a few things that come to mind that they should have had "figured out", and then we'd all be talking about what a great job the coaches did. :silly:

If we'd gotten shutout and only had 20 shots on goal and we didn't have Michigan bottled up in their end of the rink most of the night, then I think we could say that the coaches have to get this thing figured out. But we dominated this game, our goalie only gave up one goal, and their goalie pulled a few out of his rear-end. Even our esteemed panel of internet coaches would have had a hard time "figuring out" a better game plan than Hak and company had.

They are working on the highlight reel for his 40 saves and they are having trouble finding the second one; how long did it take to figure dump and chase on the power play wouldn't work againest MI? And if their defense outplays our offense, how did we outplay them?

just sayin..........................................its over and I'm still going to Tampa. I'm a college hockey fan and a fighting sioux fan!

  8. dont put that on the coaches....thats all on the kristo family!!!! He wasnt drinking,he had done nothing wrong other than not dressing properly. Why not come out and tell the story right away...The family could have prevented alot of the distraction and speculation!

And I've still got some swampland to sell you!

  9. if the Sioux loss who do we cheer on?

    There is no possibility of that happening;

my non favorite VCR that I have and others want destroyed involve us blowing a 3rd period lead to the hated Gophs at least in part because one of our defensemen cheated deep in the offensive zone which lead to a turnover and a 4 on zero breakaway which they scored on. two things of importance-the gopher with the puck did NOT pass to anyone, surprise!

and you all know who the defenseman was.

  10. This is the same crap we have seen written by "rockybison" and "lomackman". I am sure when the mods ping your IP address, they will find you are the same person.

    Get a life dude.

Back to the thread question...........presumptuous-same person-don't bet your last nickel on that-you might need it

...........intimidating-wow the software police are coming to get me-anyone that doesn't fully agree with you needs to be censored

Oh wait my valium kicked in......who do you think we should tell Dave he should pair on the 3rd D line?

  11. This is a COLLEGE SPORTS forum for fans!! The moderator's are not PAID employees. The line you mention is drawn when the volunteer moderators have had enough. They have good days and bad days (seems to me today is one of your bad days?) and their tolerance levels vary. SO WHAT?!? No one's GPA, job, job prospects, relationship, credit scores, etc are at risk here. If it bothers you, find a sports forum that meets your standards. That shouldn't be so hard to do. ;)

And I believe you have given one answer to the threads question; there is a perception that some sioux fans are depriving a village somewhere of it's idiot.

  12. Did I miss something in the original post? So what if our hockey players were at Bonzers? Have you been there? Great atmosphere and sandwiches! Are there no 21 and over hockey players on the Fighting Sioux hockey team?

You definitely missed something somewhere along the line and I really don't have the time to fully explain it to you.

And yes, I was in Bonzer's the 1st day it opened in GF; little different location, but still downtown.

And the sarcasm is directed at censorship of forums, wherein once you start you really have trouble knowing where to draw the line.

    I have no problem with any 21 yr old hockey player being in Bonzer's;

just with choosing to lie about reality.

  13. well stated :silly: i had to reread it to get what you meant in your rambling, but no, im not a post counter nor mentally disabled. and my points in the previous post are still valid in response to your displeasure of this topic... it was on it's way to a natural death before you brought it back to the top of the page, which is the true irony if you really don't want anymore conversation on this topic (although noone has a gun to your head making you read it :D ), and your infrequent post added nothing to the conversation (as off topic as it may be at this time).

I guess the sarcasm I intended was completely missed by you?

The original comments involved someone disclosing that our hockey players might have been in a bar!

Being frozen 4 week and all, the hall monitor has a tendency to eliminate any negative overtones.

But you do still have me by about 1400 times that posting was more important that doing your job.........if you have one?

  14. I think Dean might have thrown fear of God into them earlier and told them that all the newsprint BS they were being inundated with was worth squat! That BC was going to be formidable competition and you don't play Sat unless you win Thurs; again just my opinion,

  15. 1st take this with a grain of salt because I have always been and will continue to remain a big supporter of Dave Hakstol, but I can't help saying the same thing I said after the USA/Belarus game-"Dean Blais would not have lost that game"!!

    That said......Go Sioux

  16. I can see ziggy going with blessing, so he can play right away; where is a good question.

Never know which brandt shows up; likes to be 2 down before he gets into it? Cost us Wis and mo; saved us and won wcha for us in Duluth. I'm not a fan of his but what'ya do? Put'm 3rd and let'm practice intensly or he doesn't get in.

    Jordan's a keeper, but-

Lam's gonna start and do really well!!

    Just my opinion.

  17. To me as a fan, Blais is the God//stories-rumors yadayadayada-2 sides to all of them. Now largely because, I believe, Dean has blessed the tandem, I am for HakBerry 100% and cannot wait to see us win another Nat'l title in 2005.

In the early 90s, we had a player over for supper and asked him about the new asst Eades who replaced Blais and he said something to the effect that the last few years in dryland training Blais would be running with them/behind them and encouraging/prodding them to move it and become their best phy conditioned athelete they could be.

And we said, oh how about Eades?

He said, yeah he's in the golf cart!

    Enough said

Can't wait for the season to start.
