  1. I heard from Al that is bus is filled for the trip to Wisconsin to see the Fighting Sioux, led by our freshman goaltender, "The Eids of March,"* play the BADgers. FYI, Al's Pals will be staying at the Hilton, the team hotel. The Kohl is cool but those Badger fans' antics can really grate on one's nerves. Amazing, however, how many of the crowd get into the choreography and chorale. It must be seen to be believed. *And now I hear that Ides of March song "Vehicle" in my head. Is it just me or do you hear it now too? Damn earworm!
  2. I don't know what to make of the story on the Herald website linked below. As a former small-time journalist I am always interested in the editorial judgments made by the media but this story ...I just don't know... http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/i...mp;section=News
  3. Just playing devil's advocate because I am far from an apologist for the officials but the danger would be in the crowd second-guessing the call and raining boos down on the officials. There wouldn't have been too many boos last night on the kick-in ruling, given Sioux fans outnumbered cow fans, but I'm sure that's the rationale for any time a replay is not shown during officials' video review or after they make the call. Yes, I know, the officials should grow a pair and not be so sensitive to the crowd critique of the job they are doing. And, I'd be happy to argue the other side, as well, that the crowd has every right to see the replays and judge for themselves whether the call was right or wrong. But I'd feel a whole lot better if I knew that the officials themselves are required to review their toughest, closest calls from every game, a kind of postmortem, so they'd have a shot at improving their performance.
  4. Marcoux (sp?) Corner and Megan Werva (at about age 13) have delivered the best renditions at Sioux sporting events in my opinion. The anthem is not a tear-jerking, gut wrenching torch song nor should it be infused with peanut-shells-on-the-floor- country bar- karoke stylings. Simple is best.
