I am a Democrat, liberal and graduate of UND and I say................................don't ever give up the fight to keep the Fighting Sioux name.

I just had to add a word: The Myles Brand Institute of Anally Derived "Fabricated" Statistics. Wow, I didn't realize that the name and logo have been in existence for generations.

Obviously, this NA was not offended by this, as I was not offended. To me, it says that the whole "hostile and abusive" discussion regarding the Fighting Sioux nickname is not that decisive of an issue with NA's. If it were to be eradicated, would it solve all their social and economic problems? I think not.

Yesterday, I was at Target. Walking down the aisle, toward me, was a middle-aged Native American male. There is nothing unusual about that. He was wearing a bright red t-shirt. Again, nothing unusual about that. The lettering across the front of the shirt, in large letters, was "Redskins". I am at a loss for words. I wish I would have had a camera to show this to Mr. Brand and company.

This is my first ever post. I have been perusing all the messages on this topic. Yesterday I received an invitation in the mail for a fund raiser for Earl Pomeroy (yes, I am a Democrat), sponsored by several people. One of those people was..............David Gipp. Now I understand the position that Earl has taken. As the old saying goes "Don't bite the hand that feeds you". But, as an OLD UND alum, I am wholeheartedly in favor of perserving the Fighting Sioux" name. Earl needs to get a backbone.
