Think UND and the Denny will bid for future regionals?
Why not? The Denny has to know the situation and the possibility that the "host" wont be there. Besides, I highly doubt the regional bid fee is all that high. The NCAA is already having difficulty filling the four regional slots each year (see: Notre Dame a couple years ago).

Tom Jurich from Louisville should be available soon (if his ousting is not already official).

any chance faison's replacement will have any ties to the big 10??? big10hockey......
Gawd I hope not.

Yawn. We needed a press conference for this why? Just put out a press release and call it good. A new AD deserves a press conference, not a marginal one retiring.
Yeah especially since Faison likes to stay out of the limelight. <<<sarc>>>

Yuck!
One of the major problems I have with the logo is, if you didn't KNOW it was a North Dakota logo, you can't tell that's a N and a D. Ask anyone outside the region and I'd bet dollars to dimes they couldn't tell you what school that logo belongs too. That's a sign of a terrible logo.

He's 23. I believe that conforms to the CBA.
And ... " one-year entry level contract with an annual value of $1,775,000."
Holy Guacamole'. That's a lot of chips! I thought ELC's were like $950K?

I have to imagine the women's hockey coaches had an idea prior. I don't know for sure but you would think.
The writing was on the ice. Or was it in the stands hidden under all those empty seats.

Women's Hockey and the Swimming and Diving teams. Although, I highly disagree with the second part.
Winner winner chicken dinner. You win a hockey puck and a speedo.

Really? Because I see this as a black eye on the athletic department.
What did you expect the dept to do? Tell Kennedy to stick it?

How about the eight Olympians it produced for the last Olympics? I would guess beyond men's hockey no other sport at UND has/will produce Olympians.
Not that it matters, but can anyone name more than 2 if I spot you a Lam and a Roo?

Roughly $60,000 per athlete per year. That's what WIH cost UND.
Isn't that about what the women want to be paid that play for the US national team? Man, I cant wait for those world championships to start.

I understand sports need to be cut and there is a budget shortfall but the University as a whole has been very poorly managed for at least the last five years. Incompetent people are in charge. Useless people have been hired. And a great deal of money has been spent frivolously.
I attended the majority of the home games when I was in school and that was back when the team was terrible. To cut a sport that had eight Olympians in the last Olympics, while a major recruit was in town is pitiful. To have it publicised online before telling the coaches and athletes is beyond an embarrassment, it is a slap in the face to everyone involved in the program. I will proudly wear my Friends of Women's Hockey t-shirt tomorrow and wish it weren't so.
Maybe you should have invited a few 1000 friends to the games.

I blame most of this on the people that wouldn't take no for an answer on instituting women's hockey. Tim and Swyg talked endlessly about it being a black hole and it fell on deaf ears. They said all it needed to do was get going like women's basketball and I believed them. If anything the attendance is going down even though people get in free. If anyone should be ashamed it should be the crusaders that wanted a program without regards to it's financial viability.
Agree. My guess is WH would have flamed out years ago if it weren't for the Lameroux's ladies coming to the "rescue".

I'm outraged! I didn't know we HAD women's hockey. I guess same goes for swimming.

Any chance swimming/diving could pull together a program situation like men's golf? Obviously WH can't at costs well over $1M.

A real hit! They managed to incorporate elements from the old Sioux logos in a subtle way and came up with a real winner. Three feathers like the Brien and Blackhawk logos and the "N" is a tribute to the Geometric logo. It is as "Sioux" looking as could possibly be done and at the same time it is the new identity. I was hoping that they could find a way to honor the past while moving forward and they hit it. Roll out the merchandise.
I real comedian aren't you. What time are you on stage?

SMH I don't know what to say. I didn't have high hopes, but even this failed my expectations. Tell me... will anyone out of the surrounding states recognize that is supposed to be an N and a D? Seriously?

A year ago at this time, Dubey didn't have one team interested in him. Three teams later, he finds one that "fits". Not sure how he turned from a minimum wage backup player to an all-star in a few months, but the Wild need him. Hopefully Dubey will realize HE needs the Wild too and they can come to terms reasonably.

I get what you are saying, but in this day and age when you are adopting a new nickname, you would like to think a committee of educated indivuals would do better than Spirit, Pride, Blaze, Force, Sun Dogs, Etc.
Remember... these same educated individuals brought forward Bison Slayers and Wholly Mammoths for further consideration. Whoever voted "yea" on either of those should have been voted off the committee immediately.

Cavalry is the only name that really would catch on & I find that if so many Native Americans did not like us honoring the Sioux then it's tough that we would honor the Cavalry that helped us settle this part of the country
The rest of the names are terrible & I will remain Fighting Sioux for the rest of my life
But Cavalry seems a good choice in light of all the factors that took away Fighting Sioux
Im so sick of all the PC whiners & cowardly & stupid people in the world - these names & how anyone can like most of them makes me sad that we live with people even having the ability to stick us with such crappy names
& Rough riders is to me terrible & only makes sense to those that want a safe - but used - name that is weak as far as anything we who are UND Fans would want to be
As someone mentioned above, let's call a do over. For the life of me, can you take a committee seriously that recently included Bison Slayers, Drillers and Wholly Mammoths in the FINAL 63? I mean really!! Think about that. Someone(s) held up their hand and said "Bison Slayers" or 'Wholly Mammoths" should move forward and be discussed again? I can't lower my head any further in shame.

2018 West Regional - Attendance
in Men's Hockey
Posted
As many have said above, went to NCHC tourney and will be at the Frozen Four. Its easy to pass on a UND-less regional unless its in my "backyard" vicinity.
