In a college town it would have been a very quiet night to worry about this. But still, don’t resist! Hope Bubba handles small problems correctly.... may stop them from turning into bigger ones!

Last year it was cut$$ from scholarships and suspended for a game for a minor!, lets hope he keeps this in perspective and maybe some community service, volunteer hours would be more than sufficient.  Lets face it, this is chicken s--t compared to some of the situations these young men could be in to.  Stop the drain of talented players leaving/transferring/getting booted out for some of these Minor Violations.  I know of Many programs that this type of infraction would NEVER make news. GF certainly needs a story I guess!

  2. Great sarcasm, please take no offense but I coached and played at low level ball however both my boys played on national championship teams and succeed. I have seen hundreds of games and trust the players comments when speaking with them. This team couldd be great with the proper support and  coaching. Doesn't help to be kicked in the nuts every time they read here. Hunt is a great player with some poor marks and a false accusations about drugs, Wilson is a good player that left after getting suspended and loosing scholarship money after getting a minor while walking home from football house. Mercer was part of the accusations as hunt and no further investigation after house searched. Bulls hit penalties by Bubba after some of the antics by captains this season that were overlooked.

I like Hunt, his folks are great people.  Hunt didn't run into the punter on a punt safe.

It was a punt safe call with a block called off the edge. Ask the coaching staff if you are that close to the team. Stop providing false information.

  4. Lots of criticism over the past months from arm chair players. Put yourself in some of these quick decision situations. Players do read this board and so do coaches. Has been very depressing to say the least. No wonder we have a hard time getting the top recruits. Who wants this negativity surrounding them.

Special teams is truly a talent game.  Linebackers that can run are a critical piece to that.......which we were depleted in for 2017.  That is part of the reason kick coverage was pretty average.  The other reason is our kicker was knicked up and he couldn't kick a touchback when he wanted nor get proper hang time.  By all accounts kick return was decent as it's a main reason Santiago is an AA.  (I guess other teams scoring so much on use helps in a weird way for return yards, too)  Punt team is usually as good as the punter.......nothing Kostich can do besides get a better punter.  Same with punt return, put someone back that's dangerous and when the opposing team has a bad punt, make them pay.

And the big thing everyone is pissed about, is the roughing the punter call against Richmond.  I guarantee you, know for a fact, "punt safe' was called.  In a punt safe the only time we should go for a block is if the punter drops the snap.  The player that committed the error is no longer on the team for being a habitual dumbass.  You can't put that on Kostich.

Kostich is a real positive for this program and I'll leave it at that.

Maybe stop speculating. The Richmond fame on film showed the kicker moved into the rushing und player. K ostrich and the Bubba actually apologized for the reaction after the game. Transfered out to get a new start may be best. Torrey hunt has his first 2 offers as well from Georgia and Mississippi state. Nice looking these talented players?

That would mean conspiracy, so then you have to ask the question why?  Conspiracy against Mercer and Hunt or conspiracy against UND football?  Does not add up to me.

Not a conspiracy just a tactic to maybe let the real perps divert attention away from them to allow easier operation of their business.

Yes that is what I am saying, innocent and nothing found. Management/ coaching made a gave error and it will bite them.  Perhaps the 24 hour cool down approach should be invoked before harsh punishment is handed down!

    Is 5 clean tests enough?

Over a 2 year period 5 clean tests, another sophomore I know had 6 by ncaa and all clean

Do you think at some point in all of this taht Bubba and the investigators may have touched base and gave him a heads up on exactly what has been going on?

Remember the first two raids netted drugs and scales.

This last part is purely hunch on my part, but GF just had the biggest seizure in years.  2 college students,  I find it hard to believe it is all coincidence.  Again the last part I s purely connecting dots on my part, but those boys have been under surveillance for awhile too and the timing was perfect.

Answer stated earlier perhaps the tipster giving GFPD was intentionally providing false info as well. No arguing that previous bust had great results but to raid and have zero results begs the question if they are profiling simply based on association.

Not sure what your point is?  Are you telling me that Hunt and Mercer were "innocent" or nothing was found?  If you are a fan of UND football and would like to see it prosper, Bubba has no choice but to use a baseball bat to clean up this mess now.

Yes that is what I am saying, innocent and nothing found. Management/ coaching made a gave error and it will bite them.  Perhaps the 24 hour cool down approach should be invoked before harsh punishment is handed down!

Bubba has the support of those above him.  Will be more attrition once random drug testing begins.

Violation of team rules, no mention of the Fargo Narcotics Task Force.

Looks like the witch hunt has turned up some serious violators, perhaps the tip that it was football players was not correct in the first place.  Hunt and Mercer were raided and nothing found, maybe decoys to get attention away from the real violators. Police investigators said there is no further investigation of Hunt and Mercer and no case against them but to late to pull back on suspensions now.

Not saying it had anything to do with the season as i believe the injuries this season were a big reason for the loses as well as the lack of play calling but the players not geting rings for last years conference championship left a sour taste in there mouths. That goes for all the players. Its bull---- that the school didnt find a way to pay, raise money or allow the players to buy the Rings. Just saying.

If it is the AD that decides there are no funds, why the other programs received rings is crazy to me.  Basketball, Hockey, WVball??? It continues with the other programs receiving winter coats and not Football.  Don't know what is going on, perhaps the coaches raises last season have effected the overall budget for Football to this degree??

  12. All I am saying is this team needs to get direction and stick with it, I am trying to bring attention to the fact that when you point a finger at someone there is always 3 pointing back so no one including the coaches is without fault on this team, and the blame for mistakes can certainly encompass all involved from Admin to coaches to players. And no it is not a relative of mine but a very close acquaintance and it has nothing to do with drugs, I simply love this game and its sad to see how everyone want firings, cuts etc at the first sign of poor season.

If anything, they haven't been hard enough on the players.  There is no excuse for the lack of discipline that some of these players have exhibited.

I agree with you but there are injured guys whom have been under treatment and given some pretty heavy pain and sleep meds whom may have been late.  Is this really cause for discipline when these guys are giving up injury and dedication and get this BS in return for being late?? Really. If only all of us were punished for being 15 minutes late coming home to the wife, or 5 minutes late from Lunch because of an accident.  I understand if it was a repetitive occurrence but please understand mistakes do happen and the level of punishment is becoming like a witch hunt proving what.  You have players that will be seniors and have had a large investment put into them.  Will it benefit the program loosing those guys?

Recruits come for a visit and players take them out to parties and bars, then we expect them to commit and never think they will consume??? Why does UND not have a " dry" program with ZERO tolerance.  Would it surprise anyone to hear that the top players are also some of the largest consumers?? Would it be fair to not punish a player if he was more " valuable " and have a lesser player suspended??  Where does the line get crossed.  Not talking about drugs just beer or alcohol. Zero tolerance for any drug use is final.

  14. I hear the players have lost respect of some of the coaching tactics as well.  Suspensions being prematurely imposed before facts , scholarships being cut by 25-50% for a late attendance to practice/Therapy/meeting etc. punishment that does not fitting the crime.  Coaches getting raises last year and no rings for the players. Equipment issued to Hockey/Basketball /Volleyball including Winter coats that FB does not receive.  More than  a handful of integral players exploring Transfers as the result of lake of respect for the players.  Arguments are heard coming from coaches offices.  Many feeling the coaches have lost a personal connection with the team, it does not always bode well to get constant criticism and never any positives. The locker room sounds to be in disarray.  Hopefully this off season will result in some positive changes before the spring camp starts. UND proud.

  15. Settle for what you have then, why do you think this is such a waste? Talk to the professionals and you will find there are many who have hidden allergies to things like Whey, Grains, Citrus.  Things that inhibit the proper digestion and extraction of the nutrients required.  This is no longer the days of 2 plates of pasta and a gallon of ice cream. for breakfast.

  16. Really?  Are we still not in a society that finds you innocent until proven Guilty?  Please, one of these was a senior and if found proven innocent he missed his last game of college ball " pending any relation to a previous investigation". Not right at all!

He doesn’t exactly look filled out to me. Skinny arms and legs still. I see plenty of room.

Maybe some of the Money they saved from not buying the Team rings this year should be spent on a full time Meal planning Nutritionist.  Most of the top programs will tell you this is where you can truly make a difference.  Individuals can try on their own but a professional can adjust the qty and quality of the inputs to get maximum gains. These young men get so busy with Training, film, academics etc that it can be tough to have the time to properly meal plan.  I know for fact that most quality FBS programs have custom meals peeped for the players who need that assistance.

I guarantee Wilson and Bennett would be more effective if they were 250. Not unreasonable to ask of soph DEs.

I agreed with that many posts ago.

At times last year Cieslak was dominant. Tanks job isn’t to get stats, it’s to eat blocks. Also, if you’re gonna compare stats you need to look at how many more snaps the defense is getting since they cant get off the field well.

Point being the only real measureables in this sport are numbers and stats.. Right from combines to training camp to season platypus it's all numbers and stats. No one gets credit for an almost completed pass or an almost tackle so please give some credit to what these guys have actually done! I'm tired of hearing all the banter about how you think these guys should be built or play. If we were really serious the program would have a proper nutritionist on staff and real testing for body types to assist in the daily menu choices and look for patterns of food reactions that are detrimental. Let's see what happens next year when all are healthy and we compete properly.

Von Miller was a 4-star recruit and had offers from A&M, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Florida. He has a little more natural ability than the guys UND (and other FCS schools) recruit and take a few years to develop.

The point a few were trying to make is that he took a few years to develop into the player he became. We can't always expect these students to come in at 220lbs and be 250-270 in 2 years, that is not healthy weight gain. Johnson was our largest D end last year and if Bennett keeps his pace he will have comparable stats as a Sophomore, wilson just behind and these kids get maybe 25% of the reps.  This year Ceislack is our biggest D-end and seems to have a hard time making plays according to our stats.  Does size really equate to better players? Is our system flawed with the personnel we have, our secondary is decimated and maybe this is the issue with the D.

Last year Tank had total of 28 points and 1.5 TFL totalling 5 yards and half a sack, this year he is at 23 points4TFL total 11 yards. Has loosing his 20-30 lbs in offseason really hurt him? He seems faster and more athletic. 270-320 lb lineman are great for a 4 man front designed to stop the run for sure but not for a go get 'em defines like we have in place and were successful with last year. Remember how proud we all were last year of our Defence? The scheme and size of D-line has not changed dramatically.

Freeney is 6'1" 268 lbs. Both our guys are taller than him and about 40 lbs lighter. Noah Johnson last season was our best DE and he was 6'2" 270.

Von Miller played his Freshman year at 220 lbs, currently 250 lbs and 6'3", Undersized Ends can and do succeed in being some of the best pass rushers.  Maybe need to go to 4 down lineman or even 5-3 at times??

Half the time Bennett and Wilson are on skates because they aren't strong enough. They have good speed and agility but they don't help us much against the run. Stats on a bad defense are misleading. Those two need to be above 250lbs.

Agreed they need that extra 15 lbs for sure, however for a pass rush I think they are a great tandem.Speed and Skill can beat size and strength any day for passing defence, just ask Dwight Freeney. I hope all these guys get in the Gym and have a proper meal plan for the off season!
