This. I have been thinking.  Why are we travelling to Florida to play an early season tourney. Why can't the Athletic Departments get together and do a tournament of the four Dakota schools?  Either alternate host sites every year.  Or better yet, IMO, alternate between Fargo and Sioux Falls every year.  I'm betting Sanford and Scheels could put some good money into this to make it happen. Obviously hosting at their places.  Get a TV deal done, "The Battle for I-29," something to market. I know quite a few people that would attend this. (Maybe this belongs in a new thread, if so, please move it mods)

Here's a little history flash back.  In the mid 60's  Bill Fitch had arranged for holiday  tournaments with Big Ten/MVC schools.  The only problem was that the North Central Conference was about to start its own annual holiday tourney in Sioux Falls.  Every school in the conference was required to participate.  This meant that participation in the D I holiday tournaments had to be cancelled.  This so angered Fitch that he started lobbying for UND to drop out of the NCC and start putting out feelers to the Big Sky, or whatever it was called then, for admission.  Before he could see that project through he resigned to take the hc job at Bowling Green.

  2. I remember Roger Thomas saying that if one of his teams performed with a lack of focus and little energy it was on him and his staff.  He felt that it was his responsibility to have his team prepared and ready to play.  He was right on the money, too many coaches today are quick to point the finger of blame at anybody but themselves when their teams have  a bad day.

  3. Citadel's win over So Carolina yesterday may not help our selection chances however I think our chances remain pretty good. Our bid to host a first round game may carry some weight with the committee as the weather forecast for the upper Midwest next week  calls for snow and ice and then mixed winter precip from Thursday into the  week end.  A playooff game inside the Allerus center next Saturday could prove to be appealing to the committee.

  4. We all know the injury problems the football team has had the last 2 years.  Then the men's hockey team is down to a walk on junior goalie who hadn't played in a regular game until a couple of weeks ago.  Now the women's basketball team loses its starting point guard for who knows how long, and two backup guards are injured and out for the year.  This is an incredible run of bad luck that hopefully will turn around soon.

  5. 1) The dr didn't give me, and I didn't repeat, any info that hadn't been made public already.

2). Instead of calling him the most athletic quarterback I said he is arguably the most athletic. He has a better arm than Studsrud and has better touch.  He also is better on his feet than Bartels.

  6. There is nothing wrong with Mollberg, his family physician told me yesterday that he is healthy and ready to go.The irony is that, arguably, the most athletic quarterback on the team sits on the bench. I don't think they're mad at him, he's a terrific young man who hasn't complained a bit. It could be his style is geared more toward a wide open passing game instead of the conservative offense that Bubba wants.
