PCM
UI adopts NCAA policy on American Indian mascots The University of Iowa can now schedule games against schools with Indian mascots, provided those schools have given the stamp of approval from the NCAA. The UI Presidential Committee on Athletics voted unanimously to adopt the NCAA policy on American Indian mascots at its meeting Thursday. Iowa previously had its own policy, which required UI to never schedule non-conference games against schools with American Indian mascots. One nearby example is Central Michigan. Previously, Iowa could not schedule events against the Chippewas, but now are free to add them to their schedule. Now it's okay for Iowa to play NCAA-approved hostile and abusive schools. Chewey
UI adopts NCAA policy on American Indian mascots Now it's okay for Iowa to play NCAA-approved hostile and abusive schools. When the NC00, in its wisdom, determines that Central Michigan is hostile and abusive, then UI won't play them. When the NC00 determines it does not like that university anymore, UofI will stop playing it and adhere to the cogent, thought-provoking and well-discerned "policy." The UofI has a pink locker room, as everyone knows, for the visiting football team but that is ok and not "hostile and abusive." It's no big deal to me or to any reasonable person and I don't care if it's pink or white with padding on the walls but for the hyper-vigilant PC do-gooders it should be a blatant insult to homosexuals and women. Oops, I forgot. According to PC logic/mandates, "women" is supposed to be "womyn" now. Oh, now it all makes sense to me. I guess I am pretty thick after all. Chief Illiniwek Supporter
Absolutely hilarious. So when they refused to play the Bradley Braves, it was because of their holier-than-thou "policy". But today, with the sweep of a pen its okay for them to play the very same school with the very same nickname and the very same imagery as was present when they told Bradley that they were just too insulting to Indians for the Hawkeyes to even consider playing them? I would have been laughing ten times harder if there wasn't a limit on emoticons.
