UND will host the NCC Championship Cross Country Meet tomorrow, Oct. 22, at Ray Richards Golf Course in Grand Forks.

The women's race begins at 11:00, with the men to follow at noon. The Sioux women will be competing for the conference title, led by Veronica Sackett and Margaret Landberg, as well as local runner Jessie Lichter. Currently, the women are ranked 25 in the nation.

The men's team has had a rough season with lots of injuries, but look for some good performances from Skip Gilson, competing in his first XC season for the Sioux, and Richie Spitsberg, another local runner (East Grand Forks). Freshman Jeremey Jones, from Red River High, will also be competing.

With no men's hockey or football in town this weekend, it is a good opportunity for Fighting Sioux fans to come out and support one of the non-revenue sports that is usually overshadowed by its bigger brothers. I hope to see lots of green out on the course!
