PCM Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 The name change issue is a serious subject, but it's nice to see that Tony Gabriele, a columnist for the Daily Press in Hampton, VA, can have some fun with it. His column is titled Switch teams' ethnicities to Italian. I know some teams prefer an aggressive, warlike moniker, and it must be confessed that Italians have not been especially celebrated, in recent history, for military prowess. So reach back in history, to the days of the ancient Roman legions, and call your athletes the Centurions. Really neat outfit for your mascot, too. Or add an aggressive adjective, and call them the Fighting Florentines. (On second thought, no. If your teams dress like Michelangelo's David, you won't be able to sell any licensed team clothing.)
