  1. I have watched this team all year . Too many turnovers for the #1 team in the country maybe it is time for a shakeup. How can a team start out flat in such a big game? This team lacks energy to start the game. Is coach Roebuck to old school to make some changes. This team is loaded with talent. The toughest part of the schedule is coming now. I hope he can bring it all together.

From what I saw, three main problems:

    1) Many missed shots right under the basket. Can't do that.

    2) A number of defensive breakdowns that gave USD an easy bucket. Several times, a player was left unguarded right under the basket.

    3) Lack of a viable 3-point threat. Baageson's injury hurts here. We don't have a player who can consistently hit 3's. Beck and Guinn can hit the shots, but are really streaky.

  2. The student section Saturday was worthless, they sat on their hands and did nothing to help the Sioux or to hinder USD! Come on can someone get those kids into the game.

They were saying on the radio that the students have been told to sit?:glare:?? Is that the case? And that UND had the tamest student section in the NCC??

  3. Your child is only a child once. Years down the road, kids won't remember the gift you bought them or the money you gave them as "payoff", but they will remember you being there and supporting their interests and activities. And you will be grateful that you went, or will kick yourself if you miss it (maybe not right away, but you will). I speak from experience, remembering all my activities my own parents went to years ago. And I see that in my own students that I teach today.

The Sioux will be in the Frozen Four again. They were just there four years ago. It's not like we go through decades-long droughts.

Things like this determine character. And any person who would put hockey, or any sport or event, above family is someone that I want no part of.

I commend you, GBpakrzz, on your choice (as tough as it is). You won't regret it.

  4. I have a feeling it was the man himself who was the tip and wanted to get caught.

Reminds me of a time at my high school when someone called in a bomb threat and everyone had to move to the gym.

Shouldn't ever threat be taken seriously, what needs to happen for that "procedure" to change?  a bomb going off in the gymnasium full of students?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

No, I don't think he called himself in.

The Herald report is accurate. A tip was called in reporting a man was going to come to the school with a gun. From what I heard, he just wanted to cause a scene by driving around the school with a shotgun. The school was locked down, students were locked in their classrooms. The man was spotted by police driving around the school and arrested. He was never on school property. Afterwards the students were assembled in the gym for an explanation. The students were never fully assembled anywhere during the lockdown, unlike the situation you described above. The lockdown ended about 2:40 or so after being in effect for about an hour.

  5. Best wishes to Robbie Bina, and for a full recovery. I've always been a fan of the 'little guys' of hockey, and I enjoy watching Bina play. But, of course, all that is secondary in importance right now.

  6. I had the pleasure of sitting near Mrs. Blais for several games at the old Engelstad arena. I really enjoyed chatting with her-- she was a delightful person with a great sense of humor.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Blais family.

  7. I usually never think about this until after the season has begun and by then these tickets are always sold out.  Anybody know when the specific date is you can start buying them?

I'm not sure. If you find some, though, you may be well-advised to not buy them, as the Sioux do not play the Gophers in Minneapolis this season. :0

  8. Will NEVER forget sitting at the Civic Center in St. Paul in 1997, Final Five championship game, watching that big juicy rebound come out front and PA burying the biscuit in OT to win that championship. Incredible game.

Amen. I'm sure that's what he'll be remembered for. Although Schweitzer was almost a god in that game.

I was at that game as well when I was a student at the U of M. Almost as much fun as the game was my friends and I going back to the dorms afterwards wearing our Sioux garb and watching all the glum students glaring at us. Then asking a friend of mine (who was a Gopher fan) to take my shift at work that night so I could go to the party for the team at their hotel. :0:lol:;)

  9. Is Hill going to start King tomorrow? Last week he started his other goalie for the 2nd game. I realize that last week he had the luxury of knowing there would be a third game. I suggest he start King(where they may have a slim chance), otherwise there is no chance of a third game.

UAA is guaranteed one more game-- there is a third place game (where we all hope they'll be), but your point is good. I think they'll start King again.

  10. What happened to Grant? I didn't see any injury

TH reported early in the 3rd that Potulny had a "3rd degree shoulder separation." Not sure what "3rd degree" indicates, but it doesn't sound good. It happened sometime late in the 2nd period.

  11. It's 1-1, end of the first. UND goal from Parise, assist to Stafford. MN goal on 5-3 PP by Potulny from Vanek and Koalska. Brandt is playing out of his mind.

Penalties all over the place on UND, but Hennesy hasn't registered too much disgust.
