  1. It seemed like there was more than 8,200 to me also. I talked to a person in the athletic department Friday afternoon and they said that there was a little over 8,000 tickets sold at that time and were counting on a decent walkup also, like usual.

Makes me wonder how only 8,200 were there? :D

  2. Actually, it was less than 12,400 in 2003. 12,267 to be exact.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Off-topic but I went to NCAA to check out the brackets and I saw something funny under the Headlines section on the right. Check it out cause I could've swore to god everyone in Fargo said the bison were Division I. NCAA must think differently.

Just thought it was funny--not trying to make a big deal out of it.

  3. Scoring Summary--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Scoring Summary (Final)

North Alabama (13-1) vs. North Dakota (12-1)

Date: Dec 06, 2003 Site: Grand Forks, N.D. Stadium: Alerus Center

    Attendance: 9652

We didn't lie about this one I know that! Not that impressive anyway!

  4. T-bone,

I realize it is force of habit for you to come over to our board at the end of the regular season to talk about football, cause there is nothing to talk about anymore on your board, but seriously. The numbers don't lie--if it sat 13,000, 10,000, or 5,000---your school said 18,500, 18,000, etc. You tip-toed around the point that they padded the numbers by talking about how we messed up the Total Capacity of Dacotah Field. Big deal--you guys were still off 5,000!! That is unless your SRO is 4000-6000 people.

  5. Diggler, all you have to do to stop me posting here is this: quit making stuff up.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I am glad we all don't have that rule cause we would be on your board all day trying to dispute myths that come up or just plain idiotic comments by your heirum.

  6. Haven't heard anything along those lines but I saw that it was $259 from Fargo and $192 from Minneapolis to fly there on NW. There are several direct flights from Minneapolis to Hancock each day (looks like same thing as Houghton, right next to each other).

Little over 500 miles to drive there so that isn't too bad either. Could be worse.

  7. I believe Dale (judging by your post) was talking about the GLAIC not NSIC (Winona). The GLIAC top teams (and NCC), with play-off hopes all play each other in the last two weeks. Winona would have be playing for the conference championship had CSP not lost to Wayne State.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yes I know he was talking about the GLIAC and NCC that is why I talked about them having decisive games at the end. There is nothing to talk about in the Northern Sun. CSP losing to Wayne State just reinforces my point. Wayne State is terrible. Now Winona just has to make sure they can field 11 players on each side of the ball and they will get in the playoffs. Sad but true.

UND just has to win out. Even with 2 losses they should get in but obviously with the way it is set up they may not.

    Quote by Dale Lennon:

"Their league (GLIAC) and our league both have key matchups during the final two weeks," Lennon said. "You have the top teams in each league playing against each other. And those outcomes will create many playoff scenarios."

When you look at that ball-busting schedule above, where are the key games where top-ranked teams go against each other and dictate playoff positions? Everyone in that league sucks except Winona. They would have to try hard to NOT make the playoffs. They have no worries at the end of the year like UND and G.V. and Omaha all have. To defend them is only kidding yourself.

But, that would be nice to have though, a virtual guarantee you are gonna get in the playoffs--can't fault them for that.

  9. Know your facts before you open your mouth. You talk and talk but do not know what the hell you are talking about. SDSU hasn't increased its football scholarships as quickly for one reason (and it was not poor planning like your university). The courts in South Dakota have come down very hard on Title IX violators. Look at USD , a former women's coach sued USD and won for Title IX violations. Look at USD baseball team - gone because the school either had to add women's sports, women's scholarships, and women's coaches or cut back on men's sports.

SDSU needs to get its new women's equestrian team up and running before dramatically raising the football scholarships. That being said, if the Big Sky comes calling sooner rather than later - there is a plan to increase the football scholarships to required 60 right away.

By the way, this year your football team would lose to both NDSU and SDSU. Last year UND won the game in Brookings for 2 reasons - 1. SDSU chocked in the final 9 minutes of the game blowing a 21-3 lead and - 2. The back judge called a catch on the final TD when the receiver trapped the ball (and yes the replays did show that the ball hit the ground).

And another point - when you guys did win the national championship in 2001 - your 2 best players were from South Dakota. Don't count on getting recruits like these again.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    Dude---settle down.

When is the last time you finished ahead of UND in football in the NCC? Don't compare UND and SDSU ever again.

  10. Bubbas boys sound like they are a little beat up coming into this one and they weren't that good to begin with. Real thin at some positions, including D-line and WR, for sure. This one could be a one-sided affair I am afraid.

    UND 34

    UMD 7

Lennon will keep the scoring in check for obvious reasons.

  11. I know that the home field is worth some points for UNC in that game, but realize that the home atmosphere at UNC is not even close to what is generated at NDSU or UND.....not sure if that diminished home points or not.  This is a very critical game for UNC.

And yes....NDSU will have their hands full when SUU comes to town this weekend.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Florida Atlantic is for real. They beat Hawaii AT Hawaii earlier this year, which is very hard to do. And also beat North Texas who is a legitimate team, although down this year. It will be interesting to see how Northern Colorado does.

  12. i would say the level of football UC DAVIS is playing is ahead of what is being played in the NCC and most of the Great West and DIAA for that matter.

Funny how UNO hasn't beat anyone of note besides USD (who hasn't beaten anyone better than my left toe) and some ranked them 2nd in the NCC.  What does that say about the NCC.  Isn't one of UNO's losses to western washington, didn't they lose to western oregon, who got pasted by UCDAVIS and SDSU.  No logic involved there.

I forget that SDSU smashed Winona St. as well the 12 ranked team in D2.

I'm not saying that SDSU would walk through the NCC or D2 but give some credit where credit is due, i think we would have had a good chance at winning the NCC.  I can admit that UND had a fantastic year last year and is on the premiere programs in the nation at the D2 level.

ps.  I will go back to lurking now on siouxsports, until someone puts down the jacks again.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You guys gotta stop and realize that the teams you are playing aren't much better, if some of them are at all, than the teams you played last year. SDSU added 2 scholarships--big deal. You haven't won anything at D2 level in the longest time. Now you all the sudden call yourselves D1-AA, so now you could win the NCC? Please. Why would you be better than UND this year when you haven't been better than them for the last 10 years?

Your competition might now be all that you think it is---minus Cal Davis! You are hanging with and beating (see NDSU) teams are not as great as they think they are. That D1-AA Tag is throwing some people for a loop. Davis, Poly--yah they are pretty good but other than that these teams are right around upper D2 level. I am pretty sure UND would be doing just as well if not better than you playing the same Great West schedule that you are playing this year. I really have no idea how they wouldn't be better than you this year--but we will never know.

  13. Please tell me Ferris has a team policy against talking smack on opponents' websites.  You can't be serious.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It really is sad if a player is coming on a message forum and talking smack about his upcoming game---I have a feeing it isn't a player because I would hope they are practicing or lifting or watching tape on Monday afternoon--but it is Ferris so they probably have the day off ??? . That is really sad if it is a player--speaks alot about there program and the discipline we are gonna see on Saturday.

You guys are gonna get whacked by the way. You just don't understand what you are in for this weekend--I will give you the benefit of the doubt because of that. Just wait. You'll see.

GL this weekend--should be a good game to watch!

  14. This game is gonna be tough--they always play us tough and I think they are gonna be pumped up for this one. This is there chance at being on top and Hedberg has waited for this one for a long time (thought he had it last year but lost it late). I see a real tight one and hopefully we can pull it out!

    GL Sioux.

  15. Definitely, although I think there is a better chance in womens' bball to advance farther in the tournament than on the mens' side. SMS made it to the final 4 twice in the 90's (the last one may have been 2000, but I think you get my point). Also, teams like Old Dominon and Louisiana Tech are consisitently pretty good. At any rate, first the Bison have to get into a conference, be competitive in that conference, and then worry about national prominence (if it ever happens). If Amy Ruley can recruit well during the transition period and we're in a conference, I see no reason why the women won't be competing for a tournament in their first year of eligibility.

Sounds like a typical "pumping up the other team", getting them thinking they are pretty tough and then going out and throttling em. There is no way in his right mind he thinks UNA is better than UND.

Speed? We had no problem with speed, we haven't had problems with speed since the early 90's when we had to go to UNA (when they were giving out 66 scholarships or whatever :D ).
