An FBS move wouldn't start till later when ND will be financially in better shape  (think oil trust funds).  A WAC move now would cut travel to the west coast, as those teams would move to the Big Sky.  Most FBS schools lose less on football than FCS schools.  That should compute in your brains but it doesn't seem to.

I actually have more faith that an FBS move is coming than I ever had.  Moving conferences is normally very expensive but the WAC and Big Sky schools can slide over without cost IMHO.

Kennedy wants control of spending, because if it gets out of hand that will blow a chance of FBS.  Faison may not like it, but Schlossman knew something was coming.  Faison uses Schlossman for leaks.  That's how Schlossman was the first reporter to know about the NCHC.

If there is a story, it's how Kennedy and Faison are working together.

What?!?!!? UND is not going FBS.

  2. not saying that starting adam we are gonna win ten games but what if on some plays in the last two games everyone does what they are supposed to do and the running lane is there but instead the running back goes left for the hand off instead of right or the running back sees the hole and is either too slow or pussy footing around and gets tackeled for a loss?  what if the running back takes the hand hand off and hits that hole fast and hard and gets a first down or breaks a long one?  could be the difference between a loss and win and i'm hoping adam gets a few more chances to see if can get it done?

    Sentence structure. Try it sometime.

Jokes aside, the MSU game worries me this year and we got them at home!! This will be a tough test for you guys.

  3. This is like a time capsule going back to the early 90s. They're slipping. One step at a time in the wrong direction already while we are taking leaps and bounds backs towards legitimacy and success.

    You are delusional.

  4. Hitting the sauce a little hard during the game or what? I was only able to watch the first half so I have no clue why NAU came apart in the second half. Has Sumner played an average game this year? The games I've seen of his seem to all be not real great, which makes me think that his "average" isn't all that good. We heard how he was going to come in and carve up UND's defense at the beginning of the year and when the coach's put the ball in his hands, it almost cost SDSU the game.

Sumner has been very capable but he's taken a lot of bad sacks and hasn't made the throws necessary to take that next step.

To his defense, I think SDSU needs a couple more playmakers to help him out.

  5. What is average for Sumner? From what I've seen of him, which is not a large sample size, he is not very good.

He will be this team's undoing at some point in the playoffs.

I don't know his average but I'm with you. This team goes as far as Sumner and the WRs can take them.

  6. NAU is terrible. Probably the worst team I've seen all year. They were literally scared in the second half. If Sumner even plays an average game State wins by 50. What a terrible representation of your league.

I'm embarrassed the game was that close in the first half.

  7. I agree that timing is probably the biggest factor, along with continuity and competency of the head coach--which may explain why timing did not help UNC. Still, I can't help but think that being the only regional FCS program to still play outside is generally a recruiting disadvantage, especially for any recruits from outside of the immediate area. That is probably one of the reasons UND was able to win recruiting battles for kids like McGill and Sparks, even while not being playoff eligible at the time.

I'm sure SDSU has lost a couple recruits to UND but I know Sparks had a better offer at UND. That's what makes it so hard to compare between FCS schools for recruits. State could offer a half and UND could offer a full. Only the coaches know.

  8. That is the opinion of small minded people who never competed in athletics (if in anything). Normal people can see the harm this will cause our hockey team and the University. Those of you who have no clue of what it takes to recruit kids, run the equipment room, provide medical coverage, get these kids to class etc. will continue to spew ignorant crap like this. This proves there are a few people out there who can cower behind a blog and throw insults at others and is small minded and self centered enough not to care about the women's hockey team, the students, the administration, and the other athletes. Turn off the Oprah channel long enough to watch the UND women's game and you will learn about what tradition is. That is the same tradition for UND hockey and other sports and no one talks about the Sioux name or logo because it is meaningless when you walk into the locker room or onto the ice, court or field of competition. Tradition is about the relationships, teammates, coaches and the experience. People with opinions such as this are meaningless to UND hockey and always will be. The conclusion and this thread are evidence you don't see the big picture. .

    *(Standing up and clapping.......)

  9. You have got to be kidding. Schwarzkopf selected UND over NDSU. My oh my.

At the FCS level, you can give out 1/2 scholarships, etc. No one really knows what he was offerred. That being said, if the kid wants to be a pilot he probably would have chosen UND. Good luck to him.

  10. This is kind of a strange recruiting year in the cities. According to the Strib, UNI is the only FCS school with more than two commitments from the metro area: http://www.mnfootbal...ege-commitments

SDSU has two players from the same team just off the top of my head.

Edit: Although both players are from Circle Pines, MN, which is a suburb just north of the Twin Cities. I'd still think that counts though.

  11. Well I wouldn't trade Anderson, Webb, Schuler, Huff, Mitchell, Mathison or Stockdale for anyone on NDSU's roster. UND has oodles of talent, more than NDSU even. Just a matter of them playing together. I like North Dakota in this game, they seem to like playing in front of the home crowd. Got my tickets yesterday, and I've never seen them lose (in person) to the Bison. Hopefully it is a good one................

    /facepalm

  12. It's going to take another 5 years to get a decent basketball team together. Going through transition doesn't work well and the Bison are truly the exception when it comes to that. Although I haven't watched your team and know nothing about your coach, be patient. It's going to take time.

  13. My understanding is that SDSU's best player (Wolters) has a high ankle sprain and may be pretty limited, if he plays at all.

He'll be fine. He only sat out because it was against Dakota State University. No point in playing that game when he's nursing an ankle injury. When he hurt the ankle against UND on Saturday, he came back in and played the rest of the game.

  14. Any chance someone could give me a quick--one paragraph--update on what's going on with the name right now? I thought it was over but it seems to be revived?

Also, what was holding them back that made the school decide to drop the issue? And what has revived it to think that the school can still hold onto it?

    Thanks.

  15. I was the one who put it on the Bisonville board. Pretty interesting and clever. I guess I don't think it's something to get mad about. I don't follow UND although I did have a cousin play football and another played hockey at UND. I don't think the website is to make the new nickname 'Suhaki'. I think it's a fun thing for fans to do as in "Save Our Suhaki". That's why I think it's so clever. It would be funny to see a lot of people wearing that stuff around, although I would never see it much as I live in the Twin Cities.

I usually follow the SDSU and NDSU boards. Probably will be following this one a little more that UND is finally getting through to full fledge D-1. Best of luck in the Big Sky.
