First, What kind of comments does he make?
If you live in Indiana and he's an Indiana grad, why does he even care about UND? I live in Michigan and the only people here who have heard of UND are hockey fans. 90% of the people I meet think the interlocking ND logo on my Sioux sweatshirt is a Notre Dame logo and are asking why I have such funny colored Irish clothing. Do you wear UND clothing to school and is that why he makes fun of the Sioux? As a teacher, I would give my students grief if they wore clothing for a particular sports team, but they always knew it was in jest and gave it right back to me. Since he's an Indiana grad, ask him if he got high before Hoosier basketball games like the players did.
If you're sure the teacher isn't doing this in a joking manner, then my next question would be is your teacher Native American or are you discussing Native American history at all in your class? If you're talking about history in your SS class, it is possible his comments might not be meant as insults, but rather to provide an alternative perspective for you and your classmates. It is also possible he resents the nickname, even if he's not Native American. If that's the case, there is nothing you can do to convince him otherwise and he probably will continue to comment on it any chance he gets unless stopped. I would definitely talk to your parents about it if it continues, because a 6th grade classroom is no place for this teacher to be preaching about his personal beliefs.
I wear my Sioux hockey jersey and sweatshirt to school at least once every other week (every week for the sweatshirt). And I wear my watch every day. He is not Native american and we are not talking about that in class. We're talking about Rome.

I have this game called Tenchu 2 Birth of The Stealth Assassins ( a ninja game). It has a mission Editor and I made a level Based on the UND campus. I did it with the tools that they had on the game, so without looking at the title, someone who hasn't seen it can't tell. (I did the best I could) The object of the level is to kill all the evil ninjas on campus.

In all fairness to Grand Forks, when a crest comes in 5 feet above the prediction, there's not much you can do. If Fargo would have come in 5 feet higher than predicted this year, Mayor Denny wouldn't look like such a know it all. In 1997, I don't think Grand Forks could have built their main line dikes high enough (Weren't they 49-50 ft with 2 ft of "freeboard"). Add to that some of the crappy concrete dikes like in Lincoln Park area (Which I think was the first area to start leaking) and the front line dikes were just not good enough.
However, Grand Forks does deserve full blame in 1997 for not having a backup plan/contingency dikes.
All of this stuff about GF flodding in 1997 is making me sad!

I may have lost some of my reputation at school for being a Sioux fan and other 6th graders dont respect me as much anymore (except my friends) but I will NOT take any crap from Bisonville Show offs.
1. the allergic thing was a joke started at my school to talk about colleges we hate.

ARE YOU SAYING I'M A BAD POSTER TOO?#1 No, but I'm passionate#2 I'm from Wisconsin, and besides hockey, the University of Wisconsin - Madison is my team in every sport. I didn't grow up liking hockey, hence the reason I'm not a Wisconsin fan. I had a horrible boss from Northern Illinois when I was 16, and I hate hearing and seeing so much Davidson stuff since they knocked off a few teams in the tourney last year...including Wisconsin.
#3 You'd say they same about UND....and if you don't admit it, you're a liar.
#4 There's no reason to have anything against Crookston. They are not a rival in anything I care about.
#5 Good thing I didn't start the thread. I'm sure the original poster will be glad you could partake in it.
