  1. No way that replay is conclusive! Leave it to WCHA refs to decide a game in this ridiculous fashion. Poor Air Force. They just got hosed!!

Disagree. You can clearly see the puck travel inside the goal post, across the goal line, and out through the net. It was a goal.

  2. The Sioux didn't have any choice but to start a freshman most of the season; Walski's a great kid, but he isn't a WCHA starter. Adding another "starting" goalie to the mix next year will keep everyone sharp.

I really think we need to invest in a goalie coach, though. I do not understand why UND doesn't have one.

I agree 100%. I believe in everyone earning their keep. I'm with you in that I don't understand not having a goalie coach. Anybody?

  3. Stop talking and your apology will be accepted.

Finley didn't single handledly choke on a 2 goal lead.

UND lost the game. Not Finley. If you do want to blame him though, that's fine. Let the haters have one last hurrah.

It will be interesting to see who is the whipping boy next year though. Finley is gone. Genoway might have sucked today too, but he's too much of a fan favorite. LaPoint? Well.... all the pieces are there but there is a sympathetic side to his case and he did do a pretty good job on the PK... Blood? Fienhage?

OH! MacWilliam! Big, bruiser. Sure to take untimely penalties. Maybe he'll be the next Finley.

I don't know. Guess the haters have all off season to cook something up. I can't wait to see what they come up with.

You seem to be the guy who believes the Sioux can do no wrong. Can't criticize a hard-working college kid, his feelings might get hurt. Anybody with a complaint against how the Sioux played are just haters, in your opinion. You do realize that you can still love and support a team 100%, but still be upset with how they played, or how they were coached, right? The sky is full of rainbows and chocolate covered raindrops, right? I do not blame Finley solely for this loss, absolutely not. This loss against UNH is a choke-job of huge proportions. I, for one, am tired of this crap for the past 5 years. I want to see some grit and killer instinct from my lads come NCAA playoff time, and I have not seen it consistently lately. I don't know where the blame lies, and I'm not interested in pointing fingers. I just want different results. GO SIOUX!!!

  4. Goalies (3):

    Eidsness (So)

    Harrington (So)

    Dell (Fr)

    Defense (7):

    Genoway (Sr)

    Marto (Jr)

    LaPoint (Jr)

    Blood (So)

    Finehage (So)

    Gleason (Fr)

    MacWilliam (Fr)

    Forwards (13):

    VandeVelde (Sr)

    Zajac (Sr)

    Frattin (Jr)

    Trupp (Jr)

    Malone (Jr)

    Davidson (Jr)

    Gregoire (So)

    Hextall (So)

    Toews (So)

    Lamoureux (So)

    Kristo (Fr)

    Cichy (Fr)

    Bruneteau (Fr)

Possible early departures: Vandevelde and Genoway are the only two that stick out to me. VV probably 70% gone, Genoway 20% or less.

Probably want to add one forward and one dman to this list in case of multiple injuries.

    Thoughts?

The goalie situation is a tough deal. I'm always worried about the timing of bringing in the new heir apparent in the correct manner. But that's an interesting predicament when a team ends up starting a freshman most of the year. I believe in competition. I believe that Eidsness will probably only get better. My concern is bringing in another good goalie prospect who may get frustrated and leave the program early due to lack of playing time. It's probably a good situation to have in reality, though.

  5. The boys played well...till the end was sarcasim. I'm sorry you didn't get it, but we controlled the play for most of the game...most not 60 mins :( It's sad we lost because of our mistakes, that's hockey tho! The loss is not easy to take but....there is a next year, and we will see how they do. You can't fix what has happened already even if you are a "tough critic"

I also expected more, but we didn't get it.

We're on the same page, then. Sorry, but I'm just bitter right now. I'll get over it in a couple of days and move on to next year.

  6. Tough loss, but the boys played really well....till the end, mistakes cost us as we controlled the game, UNH got their chances off our mistakes so we beat ourselves in the end, great season though! Well get em next year!

I'm sorry, but "the boys" did NOT play very well. You're statement contradicts itself. I understand trying to be positive, but losing the last three games of the season does not sit well with me. Call me a tough critic, but I expect more from my Fighting Sioux...

  7. All the negativity in this town sucks......

Yeah, an OT loss hurts. Giving up the lead hurts.

But this team really is probably as big a bunch of over-achievers as we've had wearing the Fighting Sioux sweater for a long time. There is not a bona fide superstar on the team, and look where they went.

I like what I saw out of some of the youngsters today: Gregoire, Frattin, Hextall, and Malone played with some fire. I truly hope VandeVelde comes back 'cause that's a really good nucleus. Add in a reinvigorated Trupp and the incoming freshman and we've got some serious stuff up front. And Blood proved himself to me this last month as a WCHA d-man.

It's a lousy way for the seniors to go out and I'm certain they all feel like hell about it. I was going to say they deserved better, but after losing all the real "talent" of their freshman class, these seniors maybe didn't even belong in the tourney. I think they overcame a lot, and while their last three games were bitter losses, their time wearing the sweater for my alma mater was rewarding to me; I hope it was to them as well.

edit: btw, Finley and Genoway were -1 for those keeping score. Not bad in a game in which the opponents put 6 on us.

I believe Finley and Genoway were on the ice for 5 of the 6 UNH goals. I understand the plus/minus deal. I feel like I've been kicked in the sack. I never expected this team to get very far in this tournament, but there is NO EXCUSE for giving up a two goal lead in the third period. NONE. Eidsness played like crap. Why was he six feet out of position on the game winning goal? Where were the defensemen? This loss stings. I hate losing like this. I'd rather be rolled 6-1. This is the kind of loss I'd expect from Princeton vs. Minn-Duluth, NOT the Fighting Sioux. Something has to change within this program. I'm not sure what it is. BUT, we haven't had that killer instinst for quite a while. I will always love the Sioux, but...

  8. I strongly agree with the no-nickname approach. But make no mistake, there is going to be a strong push by those who pushed to see the nickname dropped to replace the nickname as soon as possible. They will deem all of us pushing for no nickname to be clinging to the Sioux name.

Personally for me, the biggest reason I would support having no nickname is that I have no faith in administrators and "constituent committees" to pick replacement nicknames that wouldn't make me throw up.

    Exactly!
