  1. Great post Big A HG

Did anyone catch a little sense of emotion in Hak's voice during post game interview with Anthony LaPanta of FSN following the championship when he spoke of "Fighting Sioux Tradition" and playing for those that came before you to uphold that tradition. A coach that truly knows the roots of a hockey program.

  2. One of the greatest Sioux players to ever wear #7, Troy Murray, is being honored tonight by the Blackhawks for his contributions as a player and as the Blackhawks radio color commentator for years.

    1980-82 55g 74a 129pts

One of the stories involving Troy was a game in which he lost the faceoff in the Wisconsin's zone and a Wisconsin player shot it down the length of the ice and it got by goaltender Jon Casey ala Frazee. the story goes that when Murray got back to the bench his comment was, "Guess I should've won the faceoff." :(

Here's another great quote from Troy by Blackhawks team historian Verdi...

"By the time the ambulance took me from the rink to the hospital, I had stopped gagging and could breathe again," he (Muray) recalls . "But I still didn

  3. when we were recruiting him everybody from other fanbases was talking about how dirty of a player he is and how hes a perfect fit for the sioux's dirty play, well i havent seen much dirty play on his part, but ive seen a lot of it against him, ive only watched him for half a season but ill already put him up there with my favorite sioux players of all time, glad i never had to play against him, i kinda wonder though if he would of dropped em had they dropped the puck and jackson was ready to go, or if he would of pulled a lucia and skated away...?

When you wear #26 on your back you better be ready to bring it. Radke would be proud.

  4. I agree completely on Hextall. His career is going to be a treat to watch. He drives opponents crazy, but also has demonstrated good hockey sense, offensive ability, and leadership. Not a doubt in my mind he will wear the "C" someday.

Brings back memories of Archibald. Not quite climbing in the stands like Archie, but definitely knocks the other team off their game. I 've liked the intensity and emotions Hextall brings to the game since the 1st game I watched him play. May not contribute on the scoreboard every night but he is usually a difference maker in every game.

  5. What would I do in that situation? I'm glad you asked. I would wait for an opportunity to lay a vicious hit on that player within the context of the game while the puck is in play. Any player wants to go around punching people in the face is obviously participating in the wrong sport. Those players need to trade in their hockey gloves for boxing gloves. Dropping the gloves and going after an opponent shows a blatant disrespect to the game of hockey.

That's maybe how one would write the script, but unfortunatlely a large majority of the time that vicious hit comes as a crushing checking from behind or boarding with intent to injure (just ask Bina) because the player hasn't had a chance to cool down and will take the next opportunity to deliver redemption at whatever cost. If the refs let two players go at it right away, they are usually over and down with it and nobody is critically wounded. And the rest of the team is not brought into the fracas!

  6. While watching the Goofs/BC game last night I noticed the team names in blue backgound on the boards and Holy Cross was on two of them. I knew the 4 teams in that tournament each had their team on two of the emlems on the boards but how did Holy Cross get on two of them. Was it because the the game was in Worcester? I guess the goofs just can't get away from Holy Cross! Must have messed with their minds seeing Holy Cross every time they came down the ice.
