  1. I know I'll get ripped a new one for this one (again), but I'll throw this out there anyways.

Mario Lamoureux should not see as much ice time as he does...ESPECIALLY with a guy like Brent Davidson getting scratched regularly. In my opinion, Lamoureux does virtually nothing offensively and while his defensive approach is worthy of applause, I don't agree with the demeanor he goes about doing it. He plays overly aggressive and takes stupid penalties when he shouldn't. He tries too hard to be the tough guy on the ice when I don't think he can back it up physically. In the end, Mario is a great PK guy, but not much more. Brent, on the other hand, is just as physical if not moreso, bigger, practices just as hard, plays smarter, and has generated some great scoring chances in the limited time he's been on the ice while still being rock-solid defensively (which is his role...like Mario). Imagine if he played regularly and could generate some chemistry with a line. There's a reason why the Genoway family told Hak & Co. that he needs to be a Fighting Sioux. Mario is a -3 in WCHA play while Davidson is a +2 in limited time.

    Just my $.02.

I will agree with you about Brent Davidson though I would not take Mario out but replace Rowney. In previous games when Rodwell, Laoureaux and Davidson have been on the same line they have consistentky played well and created lots of scoring chances as well as keeeping the opponents shut down. I think if Hak would have given Davidson the chances that he gave some of the others you would have seen the same results but prettty hard when you don't get a chance to play. now he's doing the same to Cichy and Bruneteau. I know we are loaded but there is always the possibilty of injuries and these guys need to play more often to be ready. Game play is far diffferent from practice. Myabe Hextall shouid sit a game or 2 and not take such dumb penalties.

  2. will gregoire ever come come back or willit be like chay last year? that said sounds like same lineup we had against the usa teenagers in which we struggled big time to score. that puts a damper on thursdays game. maybe it's a good thing it won't be on tv.

Well i honestly think in the USA under 18 game the boys were not up for it. They were all looking forward to Christmas break and i know they have said before it's really hard to get reved up for that game. Hopefully they are all ready to get back in the swing of thing for Duluth.

  3. Great! I checked B2 a few days ago and this wasn't listed.

Anyone know if there are bars in G.F. that will show the webcast?

I have signed up and paid for B2 3 times and it has never worked any of those time. i will never pay for them again. Have contacted them and never any reply back

  4. Good luck Wilbur.

We're in a reactionary era of sports. I truly believe that if Malone is given a lengthy suspension (to me, this means more than 2 games), then McLeod and Shepherd can claim that they are truly concerned about the players well being. Sure, that's an out and out lie, but look around you at where the NHL and especially the NFL is going in terms of physical play. Also, it makes them look good, so to speak, with anyone and everyone not truly familiar with the situation and the rules of the game. In other words, present the act, the aftermath (what happened and is happening to Martin), and the reaction by the league to some casual sports fan and how do you think they'll look? If the casual sports fan cares at all, I think they'd see it as a positive move.

McLeod and Shepherd have shown time and time again that they care very little for the integrity of the game. They don't care for the spirit of the game either. All they care about is their own professional self images and institutionalized parity.

My guess is that Malone won't be able to play on Friday but will play on Saturday.

Since Rowney and Malone won't play on Friday, I'm sure we'll see Bruneteau and Davidson. The question is, who will take Malone's spot on that line? Do they break up the Nelson line? Or do they put Bruneteau on that line?

  5. Explain... Agree wtih the Rodwell comment. Davidson is more that solid w Mario's line and have played well together. That line vs. BSU has a consistant of play as any line that night. Think Davidson is very undervalued for what he brings to the ice.

Well hopefully this weekend we'll have 2 good wins in our column. I too would like to see Davidson out there as he has shown that he deserves to play and be given chance. They seem to have good chemistry with Mario, Davidson and Rodwell.

  6. I guess I am waiting for Mike Cichy to show up at UND and be the player that he has been hyped as in the past. Also, Davidson played awesome against BSU and looked like a force on the ice I hope we see more of him.

I would love to see Davidson out there too. After listening to the postgame in Alaska it seems that line got the whole team fired up.

  7. I wouldn't discount Rowney. I didn't see him as a goal scorer, regardless of what he did in juniors. I see him as a defensive forward, a grinder, who can score on occasion. I think he'll develop into an Erik Fabian type player.

Corbin Knight... well, of those you list (Cichy was unlisted but he's in the same boat as Knight), looks like a true freshman on the ice to me. We've seen freshmen, Sioux or otherwise, come onto the ice and seem to be electric right away, but Knight fits the mold of gradual improvement over a period of time. I think he's shown flashes of brilliance, but when another freshman (Kristo) is out performing you by leaps and bounds... it's hard.

Cichy's speed was a concern before he came to UND. Even scouting reports talked about that. Cichy and Knight both play right now like they're trying to get used to the game and find their role on the team simultaneously. In my armchair coaching position, that's an extremely difficult task.

Who would I sit? I would probably rotate Bruno, Cichy, and Knight and leave Rowney in the game. I think the true odd man out is Davidson. I don't think he has much of a role on this team any longer.

  8. No clue. I would think after the dissmissal of Frattin this off season the players would be on their best behavior.

I think from what I've been hearing that some of the new kids coming in have been pretty cocky and maybe somone needed to be put in their place!!! LOL..

  9. Any idea on if UND is going to have some guys held out of the lineup due to injury? If Genoway was already banged up and Hextall missed some time (presumably due to injury), UND might have to make some early lineup changes; but I guess its better to do it against a team like UAA than a more skilled team (i.e: bring in some bigger guys and give some or skilled guys a rest and chance to recover - Fienhage, Davidson, etc. could work out well this weekend).

I agree. I would totally lilke to see Davidson & Fienhage in the line-up this weekend. They have to get some playing time as you never know when one of your top guys might be injured or sick and they have to step in. The same with Dell. He needs to get some playing time too.

  10. The story is obviously fabricated by an officer who didn't like either of those two players. Who in their right mind can "throw" a lawnmower? I smell BS. ???

Sorry not Bs. Actually happened and the boys spent the night in lock-up. I don't think a police officer is going to fabricate a story out of the blue and if they were so innocent why did they run?:p

  11. I think Walski as the Unsung hero stands out to me.

Every good Sioux team (NC or not) has had a player like Walski on it. Others I can think of are Lee Marvin, Scott Foyt, and for some reason I can't remember any more. ARGH!

Well, anyways, it doesn't have to be someone who doesn't play much (I think Porter and Fabian were examples of those with lots of playing time).

My question is, who is going to step in and fill those shoes (playing time or otherwise)?

Is it going to be Harrington? Davidson? I'm intrigued to see who it is.

I honestly think if Davidson is given the chance to play on a regular basis we will see him show his talents. It's pretty hard to be consistent when you only play every 3rd or 4th game. He's big he can hit and he can score goals. As for Harington I can't say. Have never seen the kid in any game yet so it's pretty hard to say what he can do.

  12. Seriously, the people who are complaining about those who are !@#$%ing...DEAL WITH IT. Our team just freaking lost. Don't try and tell people how they should handle a loss. Everyone has there own way.

Right so go home and have your fit at home. These boys will feel crappy enough without their so called fans backstabbing them at every oportunity.

Thanks for a great season boys and good luck to the seniors whereever your future takes you.

  13. Anyone know if Toews is still injured or just a continual scratch?? I would have thought after the Dogz game he would have been in there instead of Davidson. At least he has a chance to put the puck in the net. Anyone??

According to the pregame show Hak put Davidson in for his size and ability to score too.

  14. wow az, that is some dedication starting a thread at 3 am :silly: im not sure how many years it has been since i have been up that late on a weeknight, but kudos to you :D so with the spirit of azsioux's dedication, sioux win 5-3 tonight. hextall, vandy, marto, duncs, zajac (we never lose when zajac scores :D ), then tie tomorrow night 3-3 with kozek, watty and jones getting the game tying goal with under a minute.

Well it will be great to win the cup this weekend it would sure ne nice to have it presented in Gf where the whole team is there. Derek Lapoint has been a huge part of this team this year and it would be nice to see him be part of the ceremony as well as any of the other players that don't get much ice time. Davidson, Fineagi Harrington

    Weekly Wednesday update

UND coach Dave Hakstol said this afternoon that he's not sure whether Jason Gregoire will travel to Wisconsin. That decision will be made later on tonight and the team will leave Thursday by air.

Hakstol also said that David Toews is healthy and available for the weekend.

In my opinion Davidson should go on the trip. We need !00% healthy not somebody who's shoulder might go out on the first shift. Hakstol's comments aftrr last weeks game was that nobody works harder than Davey so mauybe he sould be rewarded by being allowed to play.

  16. If Trupp and Toews are both still hurt I'm guessing we'll see:

First line the same: Duncan, Gregoire, Hextall

Second line: Kozek moves up to play with VandeVelde and Frattin

Third line the same: Zajac, Watkins, Martens

    Fourth line: Malone, Lamoureux, Davidson

With two forwards hurt and one defenseman out for the season we need this to stop. We don't need no stinkin' injuries!

Would love to see these lineups. Kozek definitely should be up on the second line and he can showcase his great offensive ability.. Also davidson would be great with Malone and Lamoureax. At least he has some size and is not going to get injures every time he gets hit. I also believe that if he was given a chance he could show some offensiveness too

  17. Man I hope Trupp's OK - we really don't need any more guys down - we're already playing pretty dinged up - not a good time of year for this. :silly:

If it is his shoulder again this will be the second time this year. Maybe surgery might be a necessity for him. Isn't that the problem that Toews has too. Sometime we maybe need some bigger stronger guys in the lineup. Was it a bad hit on Evan or what happened??

  18. Everyone except Davidson and Harrington for sure, as I saw both on campus in the last few hours. And LaPoint (but that should be assumed). Word is Hexy made the trip.

Sorry you'r wrong. Must have seen someone else on campus. Davidson is on the trip but Toews didn't get to go.
