  1. This is where you are wrong. The difference between the east and west this year is more dramatic than most years. I agree that Devils Lake is beatable, but frankly, RR, South and Grafton are worlds above any of the teams in the west. South is probably more talented than RR, but has some "chemistry" problems. They pounded Bismarck, and it was no fluke. RR pasted Minot, and Grafton beat by 3 goals. There is virtually no chance that the top 3 seeds from the east get beat by west teams, and frankly, I will be surprised if any of those games are closer than 4 goals. I expect that Devils Lake or possibly North will be the 4th team coming out of the east. They are both beatable, but if DL is playing its best, they won't lose to Minot, Bismarck or Jamestown. North is at least as good as them, as they beat Bismarck and tied Jamestown. North's top line is very good, they simply don't have the depth. The bottom line is that DL and North should also beat the top seed from the west, but it may be a very good game.

This is not intended to be "west bashing" as I realize that there are years when the west has very good teams, and I also realize that there are good players from the west. In fact, many of the top players in the west would be the top players in the east. However, the depth of the top teams is where they have the advantage. South and RR can roll 4 lines and their 3rd and 4th lines will be better than most 2nd lines in the west. That is reality.

Jamestown beat DL and tied North and beat West Fargo, so i would not be suprised if the #1 from the West beats the #4 from the east this year

  2. Jamestown 2 Bismarck 1, there was a fight in the end which resulted in Seeberg and Peterson kicked out for BHS and Spenningsby and Lindberg plus 2 jv seniors that were dressing for senior night. Thats some bad news for both teams going into the WDA tournament missing 2 of the better players from each team for the first round.

  3. Does anyone know of the scores from the weekend?? Especially Jamestown v. Bottineau.

Jamestown 6 Bottineau 0, game wasn't close at all i don't think Bottineau got into double figures with shots. They came out very flat footed in their last two games.

  4. Thanks for the effort on the update. My take will be West only, since that's all I see.

Minot and Bismarck are #1 and #2. Jamestown can beat either of them if they stay out of the box, get decent goaltending and their top line plays well, which they usually do. Williston is better than Bottineau at this point, but if Bottineau gets goaltending and you give a Dave Hoff team a sniff, they'll make a run at you. Depth has always been their Achilles heel, and at Regional you need to win 2 out of 3 in three consecutive days, so they need to have their legs and play well day three to get to state, which I would love to see. Century does not seem to be able to score. I have not seen Dickinson. Mandan and H/B are not going anywhere in the post-season this year.

In my opinion when Jamestown does the things stated above, they are better than Minot and Bismarck but Jamestown's problem is they are way too up and down, not very consistent at all. Jamestown has kind of been notorious for losing to teams they are better than but then again beating teams that they are worse than. I still see them coming into the state tournament as the 1 seed out of the west.

  5. Yeah im sure he would have gotten ran all game if he was playing in the East, haha what a joke. Like the kids that play in the east are tougher than the kids in west. It really doesn't matter whether this happened in the west or the east, either way there is no fighting in the east or the west. Do you really think it would be worth it to go and take Dillon Kraft out, get in a fight and be suspended. NO. These kids only play 20 some games, they certainly don't want to sit out a game or two for taking out Dillon Kraft. He's simply not worth it. If it was junior hockey he certainly wouldn't have pulled what he did because he would have got his head took off. Also there is a certain Colby Rehak who plays for Williston who certainly could have took care of Mr. Kraft if he wanted to, but once again why would Rehak (Williston's best player) want to take himself out of the game and probaly the next few games after that. So basically what im saying here is that the comment posted about how this never would have happened in the east is a complete joke. Rehak is just as tough if not tougher than anyone from the east. Lastly, I played in the west and played with plenty of kids from the east, and the kids from the east aren't any more physical or tougher than kids from the west. If you ask me I would say kids from the west play a rougher style of game than kids from the east.

I know that there will probaly be a bunch of people from the east who will respond to my comment and say the east is more physical and they are so tough but im not buying it. Most the people who post on here probaly never played hockey or else they come on here to brag up their son, so they really don't know what they are talking about anyway.

Speaking of that Jamestown beat Devils Lake tonight 7-4, one of the easts top teams getting beat by a team from the west.

  6. Bottineau is pretty good I think. I am giving them a decent chance to go to State this year. I see them possibly knocking off a slightly higher ranked team like Williston or Century in the West region turnament.

Was that a serious comment, they lost to Century's Jv and your predicting them to knock Century off. Bottineau has no chance to make it to state.

  7. I should make a correction though. At the time when he was talking about doing that it wasn't after making that breakaway goal...cause it was like 2-3 days ago when he said it and I doubt he has foresight and I just realized the game was yesterday.. But I could see him doing that though he's a very pompous person on and off the ice. None the less though I do talk to him because he's a Fighting Sioux hockey fan

And in case anyone wants to see exactly what he did here is the link to the video of the goal:

Dillion Kraft is a joke and should be embarressed after doing that

  8. I have to agree with dizzle and Messier on their comments. Lives-to-play-hockey-06 runs down teams and individuals. Hides behind a screen name and makes critical evaluations based on limited knowledge - such as the comment that Elite II is the equivalent of JV hockey, that a certain athlete will never play juniors, etc, etc. Lives-to-play also provides editorial critique of others on this board when in fact he makes a significant number of typos or spelling/grammatical errors as well - for example - spelling "equivalent" incorrectly, or saying (see above)...."Your seeing two brutal teams play." When it should read, "You are......." I guess if you are going to critique the spelling of others I would expect that you know how to write. Enough of this negativity - if you love the sport then why are you running down individuals and teams that are just doing what they enjoy.

I agree with everyone too, Lives-to-play-hockey-06 just talks down about everyone and thinks he knows everything about every team and all he says is each team is brutal........that guy is an idiot

  9. In regards to the DL/Jamestown game - Jamestown got lucky. DL's goalie did not have a good night. Might have been first game jitters or the fact he was ran over 3 times during the game. Anyway he was again solid when playing Minot.

Wow if your watched the game Jamestown's goalie let in way more weak goals then DL's goalie, Jamestown's better goalie is ineligible right now, Tyler Lindberg, he was the goalie for Elite 2

  10. I dont think anybody is giving Jamestown any credit, most things said about Jamestown are negative

Just a thought I wanted to throw out there. How many of these players that have a shot at winning Mr. Hockey put that above a state title. I know last year if South wouldn't have won state Weisgarber wouldn't have been satisfied with the way the season ended. Some of these players give me the feeling that personal accomplishments outweigh team success. What do you think?
